Good one ROFL. I had a tank round hit a tree and it was stripped of its foliage and looked like a big tooth pick.

Question about Panzerfaust's
MG TOW replied to Kurt Jäger's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Looked closely while playing and I've only seen faustpatrones and panzerfaust 30. the patrone is also called a panzerfaust30k (k for klein) in the game. -

So what's the plan for other titles??
MG TOW replied to Capt Cliff's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
How bout the Medriatic. Italy, Greece, Yugo, Sicily, Crete. Has all elements and branches of the German Forces. US, British, Canada, and colonial minors for the allies. -
Anybody know if you can Demo charge an enemy armored vehicle?

I don't know if balkan houses in the early 90's are comparable to Normandy 1944 houses. But I have seen what a variety of different calibers do to those dwellings. And have dozens of photos, not scanned though. Roofs were usually destroyed. But direct fire weapons splat into the wall, or through the wall. Surprisingly there were small houses with hundreds of small arms hits, including 20mm, and up to 76mm bullet hits that left holes only but did not take out walls entirely. I have a photo of the same house below and as you can see what I described above. http://skiprhode.com/w7.html

great idea. No need to include an error factor IMO. Consider the ground christened before the attack anyways. Or its a game feature because the human player can't see all parts of the map and give orders at the same time to all units simultaneously. The most successful PC games are those which clearly relay game information to the player. Auditory information is seldom exploited to its full potential. And no, WW2 squadlings did not have motorolas so its a figurative tool used in place of a soldier saying "hey sarge, that's 2nd squad over there getting zapped from the farmhouse"

Will more vehicles be added later?
MG TOW replied to GhostRider3/3's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I always liked the german recon vehicles like the 233 or 234. They didn't make much of an impact on the war but they are fun to have in a game such as this. They can be very successful at times and others are knocked out straight away. -
Will the camera controls make a progress as well?
MG TOW replied to DeLaVega's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I actually run out of desk top on occasion when I do step 2. Maybe I'm trying to go too fast. -
Will the camera controls make a progress as well?
MG TOW replied to DeLaVega's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
It stands to reason that people who only play intelligent tactical wargames only would not know what the optimal method for camera via mouse control is. There are genres of gaming where the mouse control is the bread and butter of the game. Bottom line I can deal with the camera controls the way they are because I am used to it, but it is not optimal. -
CM:BN vs PC:O like Blur vs Oasis?

Are these types above ground and invisible to the enemy? -
How did you find out about Combat Mission?
MG TOW replied to ChrisND's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
musta been my third time back to Bosnia. Some local guy on the side of the road sold me the first Combat Mission. I never even heard of it. Stayed in my foot locker and when I got home I fired it up. Loved it and bought all of the "Authentic" copies in the series. -
good little video, hope somebody does a skin mod in CMSF portraying the rebel soldiers wearing the bright lime traffic vests.

Played this one wrong the first time, After 20 minutes not a tracked vehicle left on either side. The battlefield looked like a minnie kursk. Luckily most my infantry was dismounted. To which in became an infantry slog fest for over an hour then went into 14 minutes overtime. Ended with a draw. Two zones taken out of 3 but high casualties.

Nvidia or ATI that is the question
MG TOW replied to phil stanbridge's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
ATI uses architecture of design to increase processing power whereas Nvidia concentrates on adding frequency accelerators to older chipsets and giving them a new designation. Both will take older model cards and add more onboard memory and sell them as budget vs performance cards. -
Argh I thought it was a disgruntled CM1 fan pretending to be a spam bot.

Well that strategic shell would be great to have for the CMBN series, why waste the effort on CM1 which is a very old game now. I know some people still go back to it, but many have moved on to new series.

it may not be totally appropriate to bring this up in another games forum But TOW Korea may be a more suitable game to adapt for vietnam since it already has the same helicopters the marines used in the early part of that war anyways. No palm trees or M-14, but that could be modded with little effort. Suited for infantry heavy battles. But of course you have to like the engine and many don't.

Anything too close to the truth may be considered inappropriate, and somewhat provocative my guess. Syria vs Nato is not as probable as lets say Iran therefore more acceptable. The prologue in the manual gives a long explanation of why they chose Syria, and how they were considering Fantasia etc. etc. Btw Did anyone ask for Nato vs Warsawpact 1988 again this month? If not I am.
