  1. Fair enough. I like beaches. I am having alot of fun with Du Hoc and the Omaha Mods as limited as they are. So I am just waiting to see what enticing nuance will be added to the sequel that may attract me to it. I'm part of that minority that rarely moves to the add-ons. I solely own CMBB, CMSF, and CMBN. Love CMBN and will keep playing it to the next generation.
  2. Seeing the excellent du Hoc and Omaha community maps, I am a little curious as to why CM Normandy did not start on the beach. A low res blue world skirt tile would be all required for background, maybe a couple beach flavour objects. Seems CM may have missed the higgens boat on that now that the US campaign is over. Or is it? Is the sequel going to include a new US campaign as well as the British? Would this include beaches? I have a feeling it will start inland to Falaise and beyond, but thought I'd ask.
  3. For what its worth, I participated in combined arms exercises, and Balkan deployments with cougar AVGP squadrons as an infanteer. The Cougar uses a 76mm L23A1 low velocity main gun same as the Scorpion. The tankers I teamed with explained the gun and optics were similar to a Sherman, maybe they were generalizing a bit for the pongo heating his hand near their exaust pipe. A gunner I new very well said they had to stop and fire once a target was a acquired. I never inquired as to what would happen if they fired on the move, sorry, not the expert opinion we were hoping for.
  4. I suppose if they would have showed the prime mover a block away outside of the rubbled area, the 20mm being unhitched, and the crew stuffing a few of the big box clips in a bag before it was rolled into position, it would have been more palatable. But really it was not ridiculous. I would like to have in the game that panzerbusche pak36 they had in the Band of Brothers Carentan scene.
  5. Satchel charges need a little refinement. Can you throw them without getting up and running to the blast zone? They should be used a little more like a grenade or bundle grenade. But in CQC they would be dangerous. Its a tough to balance for a game.
  6. Spotting rounds especially for mortars are pretty slow, with long intervals. When I see a spotting round hit, I try and determine which unit is the likely target. Then I wait for the next round with my cursor over the Fast key. After the second spotting round iI click the fast destination and the squad Di di mau's two bounds away. The impact zone is empty and everyone survives. Very predictable but not real life.
  7. here's a youtube video with these same two guys at 6:02 DON'T BLINK. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJTEfkR7CyA
  8. Not exactly the same, but related topic. Noticed this with bazooka soldiers in whole squads. One may want the squad to actually fire at and suppress the building, And prefer the bazooka soldier to use his rifle. But it is treated as a hardpoint and the bazooka is used first. I would think the Target Light command may remedy this? But haven't tested yet. Maybe someone else knows.
  9. Actually Lehr had 8 Tigers at the time of Normandy, which is not too moddest for a campaign.
  10. I find some of the QB's end a tad too early with th AI giving up. Doing a post game review of the battlefield it seems, in many cases I would have been knocked down to a draw juding by what the AI still had on the battlefield. Same for precooked scenarios.
  11. RT. Never considered wego yet but I think I just may give it a go to see how I like it.
  12. I say again: why no repeat...over. I launched a heavy short mortar barrage on a target. Waited 5 minutes for it to be spotted and on target. The target was still intact and called it in again. Had to wait 5 minutes again for the second barrage? Considering the mortar is already registered shouldn't this be less than a minute now? Seriously, no other game models artillery support as good as CMBN so I am just saying if it is not in there then maybe a repeat fire mission option could be added.
  13. Acheiving a "Total Victory" on warrior was becoming a personal matter for me although I could quite easily get a german tactical victory. Now I can move on. I won't give away how I did it. And I suppose I could do the same thing now that I did it once. I will say that heavy short mortar barrages into the open top of two priests helped immensely
  14. Move past the sherman. Its knocked out by a mine I believe. The squads have a very high affinity for pathing on the bridge here.
  15. maybe not a common bug. But something that should be looked into maybe. There were alot of shell holes under the bridge, maybe it has something to do with it. I dunno. But this bridge kept swallowing my units and wouldn't let me move them. Its from the second battle of the Courage and fortitude campaign.
  16. zip. notta. Not so far yet with open top tanks anyways. But I am not surprised with this as its closer to reality than the exception.
  17. limited to OSS missions, and sabotage in France until paris. By then the French army was back in swing. But a must for an East front release where partizans were an organized irregular combat force.
  18. Talk to a Scorpion light tank gunner, or a Cougar AVGP gunner. The closest modern day example to a WW2 tank are these "training tanks"... if you can't find an actual sherman gunner. I did, and I asked him about firing on the move. They will tell you a lateral shot while moving, from their 76mm pumpkin launcher is a waste. The commander orders a stop before the gunner fires.
  19. As a general rule all ww2 tanks have to stop and shoot. The target can be identified and acquired on the move but the shot occurs when the tank stops. panthers one example, did have limited gun stabs and could shoot forward, as in 0 degrees, while moving on a smooth surface, but any lateral shots on the move are pretty much a waste.
  20. So the hide command only takes effect when movement is stopped, I take it.
  21. The only thing that bugs me is that all the troops are wearing the boots of the little chinaman in the Hangover. Size four and a half.
  22. Not sure if this is related, but its pretty funny. I had a breach team get separated from one another. One guy lagged way way back. I ordered a blast to a wall in a building. When the first guy got to the building he prepared the charge. But the blast occured at the location of the guy who lagged behind. I this he was the team leader. This was in single player.
  23. Priests make a great catcher's mitt for on map mortar rounds. When they catch one there is a big secondary. Sometimes it will bring a building down if next to one.
