  1. @Boche Yes please I'd love input to improve the Allied order of battle. When referring to Almansa as Cavalry does that mean it's a reconnaissance unit? @ithikal_AU Yes I see what you mean about the duplication. I'm pretty sure that's a copy and paste error. As I mentioned it's been some years since I wrote up this list. I believe the US units coming from Iraq were the actual units that were in country at the time. I'll have to research that again. I'll sort out which of the two divisions that brigade should belong to. I wonder if some one will make an Australian mod someday? I don't have the skill. Anyway I am thinking of making a "Vassal" module some day of this with the units mostly broken down by brigades. Some special units would be battalion. To make everything battalion level would require a very large map to make it the right scale Search for Vassal Engine if you are not familiar with what that is.
  2. If I recall correctly ( I wrote this up years ago) I just selected what I thought was a reasonable mix of units from each country's forces at the time. I think there was a NATO brigade on Battlefront's map with the label of just "Sp". I'd be more than happy to hear of suggested changes.

  4. And for convenience here is the Allied order of battle I composed years ago, again much of it inspired by the map from Shock Force I. Someone commented I have been over generous with the force I have given the Allies, but Allied forces would have months to prepare and the the dirty bomb scenario Battlefront came up with would inspire a NATO resolve much like the US had after 9-11. 5. Hi, A few folks were asking for this. I have the 2004 annual "Military Balance" periodical by the Institute of Strategic Study. It lists the Syrian Armed Forces as consisting of the following in 2004: Army c. 280,000 3 Corps HQ 7 Armored divisions (3 armored, 1 mech brigade, 1 artillery regiment each). 3 Mech divisions (2 armored, 2 mech brigades, 1 artillery regiment each). 1 Republican Guard division, ( 3 armored, 1 mech brigade, 1 artillery regiment). 1 Special Forces division (3 SF regiments.) 4 independent infantry brigades. 1 Border Guard brigade. 2 independent artillery brigades. 2 independent anti-tank brigades. 10 independent Special Forces regiments. 3 surface to surface to service missile brigades each of 3 battalions. 1 coastal surface to surface missile brigade. Reserves 1 Armored division HQ 4 Armored brigades. 2 Armored regiments. 31 infantry regiments. 3 artillery regiments. Navy c. 4000 2 Petya III class fast frigates. 18 patrol and coastal craft. Air Force c. 40,000 Fighter/Ground Attack 5 Sqds with 50 Su-22s 2 Sqds with 60 MiG 23s 2 Sqds with 20 Su-24s Fighter 8 Sqds with 160 MiG 21 5 Sqds with 60 MiG 23 2 Sqds with 30 MiG 25 1 Sqd with 42 MiG 29 8 Su 27 reported Recce Aircraft 5 MiG 25 40 MiG 21 Attack Helicopter 36 Mi 25 and SA 342 L Air Defense Command c. 60,000 2 AD divisions, 25 AD brigades with c. 150 SAM batteries, 23mm, 130 mm. c. 472 SA-2/-3 , 100 SA-6, and 4000 AD artillery pieces. 2 SAM regiments with c. 48 SA-5. Actually the map that came with the physical copies of Shock Force reflects the OOB above pretty well. I have more detail but it's mostly derived from research forum member SDP compiled for the meta campaign he was going to run back in 2010. He came up with a quite detailed Order of Battle which I discovered I still have on my harddrive. Some of it is fictional but he identifies what's fictional and what's not in his document. If you are interested in the document, I don't think he would mind me sharing it. Just send me a pm. SDP if you are still around and would rather I not share your OOB please let me know.
  6. Best to leave this thread to just chug off slowly to the sunset....
  7. Hi, sorry, I've been tied up the past couple of weekends. I'll see if I can dig it up this coming weekend. Thanks for your interest.
  8. I can only add that late projects with huge cost overruns are not unique to Germany as evidenced by our Bullet Train project here in California. It has recently been scaled back thankfully, in my opinion, to something that may work. I am not an engineer but I never understood the practicality of building a bullet train route over a major mountain range. On the other hand in California we know how to build to withstand earthquakes as a major quake causes many fewer deaths than a smaller one does in Italy. Perhaps that's unfair as Italy has many more older buildings but it seems newer buildings are failing in earthquakes there as well. Sorry if this is getting way off topic.
  9. I guess I haven't looked at the Germans yet in CMSF 2 . They didn't have those patches in the original game. I am trying to identify what the Unit patch is. Anyone know? My understanding is the modern Heer uses "mission badges". If that's true this one may be fictional, yet I have strong doubts that's the case.
  10. I don't recognize the uniform and badge of the fellow shooting the M4.
  11. It's likely it's just awaiting its turn to be uploaded in CMMODS IV.
  12. I also seem to recall an elaboration on the explanation years ago that the round count wasn't the number of rounds the artillery battery had in hand but rather the amount of "tube time" allocated to your unit from a higher headquarters for the duration of your mission.
  13. Does that mean the Syrian Special Forces are considered part of the Republican guard then? IIRC there was an entire Republican Guard division plus separate Special Forces units.
  14. Mark, not that you need more to do, but in an earlier thread some one asked for Woodland DPM shirts with Desert DPM pants, and provided some photos of troops dressed that way. Just thought I'd bring it up. Thanks for all your work. I'm working on putting patches on the stock game British uniforms myself right now.
  15. They look really good to me. Is the red stripe on the epaulette unique to Special Forces? Also do you or any one have a bigger picture of the badge on the shoulder? Finally what is the big circle on some of the helmets about?
  16. Parallel dimension where Elvis and Jim Morrison are still alive too. The bad thing is there are still a few posters that haven't been banned yet so I prefer to come here.
  17. I was killed by an A-10 in a Reforger exercise many years ago.
  18. Yeah the bottom 3 shots appear to be a desert pattern but one different then the stock uniforms.
  19. Out of curiosity what is the stock game British camo pattern called?
  20. Hello, There is a mod for use with a Spanish Blue Division Mod package that consisted of six different downloads. There is still a link to them in the CMX 1 CMMODS area but it appears the files are corrupted. Does any one happen to have the voice files? Thanks
  21. Alright, I will dig it up and post when I can. I have this pipedream of making a virtual boardgame Vassal module http://www.vassalengine.org/ which I have experience in using of the fictional war at brigade/battalion level . Once upon a time someone was going to run a online campaign of the war with various players in command of units on both sides and battles decided by using CMX1 but it became problematic and the project was dropped. I did obtain (with permission) a graphic file of the map that was to be used for the campaign that would be ideal for a Vassal module.
  22. There is a link of the second page of the Multicam 3rd infantry thread. The thread it links to has two orders of battle. The second one is more detailed. I also have what I think is a rather complete Syrian order of battle for 2008 on paper (before the civil war of course). I can post it if there is interest.
