Professional humor there, well done 😁
I know some folks would say that by 1985 & 1989 the NATO side would be overpowered relative to warsaw pact. What is wrong with that?  Recent events make me very much want to kick the living daylights out of some RU forces.

I know BOAR is of course the current focus and the future is uncertain. If more expansions are to come after BAOR, what is the likelihood of the timeline being extended beyond 1982?
I would really love in the future to see the game pushed out to 1985. 1983-1985 really opens the door for some Able Archer-gone-wrong scenarios. In a perfect world, seeing the timeline stretch all the way to 1989 would be the dream and would leave open such a vast stretch of time for all sorts of campaigns and scenarios, but I also recognize that leaping that far ahead pushes us closer to match ups like we already see in CMSF, as far as the typical East vs. West equipment is concerned.

Can second that. Maybe we will get to that point in the next module. But the more important point IMHO is to get East- and West-German troops combined with Belgian and Dutch troops into the game.

I would strongly suggest for a good overview:
"Spies: The Epic Intelligence War Between the East and the West" by Calder Walton

Have you looked at "Winter Work" by Dan Fesperman, "Bad Actors" by Mick Herron or even Anthony Horowitz's "With a Mind to Kill?

Congratulations, I had to pay full whack for all of those, and for FB 🫣.  They were worth it though.

Graviteam has amazing physical detail. But I didn't see much effort put into things like accurate TO&E. And options for setting up complicated scenarios seemed very limited. I was in awe of the physics, but they seem to have forgotten everything else.

The vehicle is currently available in-game in the Panzergrenadier Battalion B (Panzer Brigade) formation, though it is only the early one with the 15mm guns.
In CMRT the late version with the 20mm guns is introduced in December 1944.

CM1 can look tidy when modded though.

Aragorn2002 reacted to Commanderski in Just finished Heart of the Dying Sun scenario
Just finished @George MC 's Heart of the Dying Sun scenario and it's one of the wildest I've ever played, it auto ended with 43 minutes to go. For one look at the Soviet Casualties! Some parts of the battlefield you'd have a hard time not stepping on any bodies. The amount of Soviet artillery was amazing, there were very few turns where artillery wasn't falling. The Soviets must have literally fired over 5,000 shells, a lot of times the noise was just incredible, massive artillery, tanks, AA guns, machine guns firing, and Soviet planes flying around at the same time. The planes may not be too effective but after seeing them in here it adds a lot to the battlefield noise.
At times it seemed like things were winding down but it was just a pause as the next human wave of infantry was coming through the smoke and dust. It's not that easy but a very fun scenario.

"Ordnung im Chaos" by Gen. d. PzTr Hermann Balck, who was commanding the whole thing, is also worth reading, as it gives some background information on the circumstances prevailing in German High Command at the time. The English translation is ISBN 978-0813161266.

They could always just play with less troops, or not play CM at all in that case.

The mission editor is clunky to be sure... but Command: Modern Operations? Crying out loud, that game is so clunky it's difficult to just get units to move and do things, let alone create missions. And don't even start talking of AI abilities to react to the player's moves, that AI is basically playing a card game based on vehicle stats lifted from Wikipedia.
CM has flaws, mainly in regards to the AI, line of sight/fire calculations and performance, but @Aragorn2002is right: Combat Mission is more rare than unicorns with a double first from Oxford.

Here's a thought. After BF has finally closed business (and long mey they rule), NO ONE will ever produce this kind of complicated and labour intensive wargames anymore. So let's praise ourselves lucky we've already got his much.

I think I do too, I've tried most of those other games but what do I spend nearly all of my game time playing?  CM.

Those games are not direct competitors and offer a very different experience.  The closest game to CM I recall was "Panzer Elite" which was  far ahead of its time back in the last 1990's.  But, the CM2 series is way more sophisticated now.  So I agree with Aragorn:
