That does sound great.  More than I anticipated.  I was very pleased when Steve told us that partisans made the cut which wasn't the case when this module's possible contents were first hinted.
I am bit surprised that minor nationalities were even considered.  Weren't we told years ago that BF had no inclination to go down the research rabbit-hole that those nations' TO&E would require?  Further, after the apparent coding nightmare that was including various "minor" nation formations into Rome to Victory, I would think BF wouldn't dare want to touch the Finns, Romanians, or Hungarians.  However, that they even considered it does make one hope of a possible pack including one or more of them someday, but I certainly would not hold my breath waiting on such a thing.

They were considering other nationalities but the module had already grown to massive proportions. New fall, winter and spring foliage, terrains and horizons,. Snow, whitewash for all vehicles, a new region (Germany) and specialized artwork for the Berlin maps, Lend Lease vehicles, late war vehicles, partisans and Volkssturm, multiple uniform swap-outs for the seasons. Plus some vehicles even got alt late war camou schemes. This module is a monster.

I've been playing a lot with smg squads. You really do not want to get caught in the situation where the enemy is outranging you by 80m+ and there's nothing you can do about it. The PPSh is a buzz saw but you've got to get up really close to use a buzz saw properly. I appreciate having guys with long rifles around to help me out in that situation. Better yet, bring a lmg along but they do tend to die fast.

Nope - rather because it is hard to hit a man-sized target at anything beyond 200 meters.

Rifle target range distances and actual combat distances have nothing to do with one another. Using the former can lead to some very tenuous conclusions.
A more useful thing to look at would be data collected by different militaries on what they determined to be actual combat ranges for a given period, as well as their doctrine and training requirements.

Think I managed to knock out the entire Luftwaffe today. I am happy with everything so they should be keepers. Even managed the SS armor portrait. I collected the base pic from another forum back in October and have been dying to take a crack at it. I am SUPER happy with how it turned out. I REALLY love it.
Here's a preview of ALL the main Armor for CMBN (Bocage style background as in the American pics above).

As you can see there's NO argument that this new style was the way to go!

Mord listens. Mord hears the lamentations and suffering of the players. Mord feels their pains deep in his blackened soul. And so, with a flourish of his cloak, Mord retires to the bunker, keyboard in hand, and with furious abandon delivers unto the curse-ed, a cure for their all ills (or a small patch for the less romatic). Behold, an end to their misery!

After a year and and five months it is done! The SF2 mod really burned me out but I managed to FINALLY finish this bad boy after lots of breaks and procrastination. There's over 1700 portraits included. I hand made 60+ unique faces for this one, there's plenty of variety.
Thanks to MJ for sending me the new portraits so I'd know what was included in RtV. He didn't have the SS so I had to guess, but going by my research I think I have them covered.
Guys, please read the included "Urgent" readme in the zip when you get a chance. Things are pretty tough for me right now so I'd appreciate it.
I sent the mod off to Booty so it should be up some time soon (or maybe Ian can get a hold of him and let him know). In the meantime here's the splash screen and I posted a pic in my FI Mods thread.

Hope you guys enjoy them and stay healthy, the world has definitely taken a weird-ass detour.

Myles Keogh got a reaction from Warts 'n' all in To buy or not to buy
I've had that happen a few times.  The workaround is to bring the rest of the squad/team back to the location of the "stuck" individual and then plot another movement order away from the hedgerow.  That usually "unshakes" the stuck pixeltruppen.
And the "retreat through the hedgerow towards the enemy" issue is still present in CMBN and will make itself noticed in any scenario featuring bocage.  BF did have success in limiting that behavior with the 02 patch, but it still occurs enough to be frustrating.
As for whether to buy or not?  As others have stated: check-out the demos.  That's the best way to determine whether this game is for you.

That is something these games have badly needed going back to CMx1.  A "follow-the-leader"/convoy command was on the drawing board to be included in one of the CMx2 upgrades, but somewhere between that upgrade's inception and it's release it was dropped as a feature.  It appears they couldn't get to work within CMx2's code.  A shame.  So, CMx3 is probably only our hope we'll see ever it in one of their games.
I agree that plotting road movements for numerous vehicles/squads is a pain in the neck that often seriously detracts from my enjoyment.  In fact, I come to deeply resent any scenario/campaign that features waves of reinforcements whose movements then have to be laboriously plotted from the back of the map to the front.  All that waypoint setting and use of the pause key to avoid traffic jams, it's got to be one of the worst parts of the game.

This is not meant to be taken literally but rather it represents "Infantry Close Assault". Disregard the animations in this as the game was not designed to display the precise actions that take place in this sort of attack on a vehicle.

This is a terrifically made player made campaign featuring historic missions about the Canadians attacking dug-in SS positions at Carpriquet airfield.  It does feature some of Hobart's funnies most notably flail tanks in its 2nd scenario.

It's a mistake with that scenario.  If you have a green check then you control that objective and should get the points for it, but the campaign creator missed adding the points for that objective when he made it.  So you get nothing for your efforts to take it.
As shown by the attached thread, I reported this issue nearly four years ago.  The campaign creator acknowledged it and said he'd upload a fixed version.
Sadly, there were other niggling issues with that campaign: a scenario in which the OOB for an infantry platoon can change every time you play it.  Sometimes it will have an attached 51mm mortar team and other times it won't.  (It was as tough scenario that I restarted several times in order to win it, but also had to restart numerous other times just to get that mortar which I found to be very important to having any chance to win.)  And another scenario that has flamethrower teams without flamethrowers.  When I saw that I threw in the towel.   That was four years ago.  Maybe those issues have been fixed in one of the patches/upgrades.

Been a while since I played it, but if I remember correctly, the biggest "problem" is due to the TO&E changes between versions.  While tanks still appear, after the first scenario, you don't get the full complement any longer, so you have to be VERY careful with them.

I suppose that's true when you count all CM games and maps.  Within CMBN though, this specific bug regularly ruins play.  It is not trivial within that title.
However, I do understand that debugging it will be a major effort diverting resources from other more profitable work.  I hope someone might wake up in the middle of the night, say "Eureka!", and find a fix for it soon though.

They're not missing. You just lack the imagination to see them. The tile says 'Indian Army'. It doesn't say Punjabi, Pakistani, Nepalese or Tamil. It just says Indian Army. What region they're from is up to you.

There's also no Greeks, but as far as I know this is the first game to offer Indian (including Sikh) and Brazilian forces at this scale. And there are South Africans, Kiwis, Free French, and Poles.  It's sort of a glass half empty-glass half full sort of thing I think. Myself I some hope time gets put into bringing the Free French to Northwest Europe.

A bit surprised and disappointed that this bug, which I thought was received and acknowledged by BF months ago, apparently fell through the cracks and, as a result, nothing has been done about it.
Yeah, it's not as bad as it was with the "01" patch, but play any CMBN scenario that has bocage and you'll probably still see this very undesirable TacAI behavior with the 02 patch.  (I'm playing a CMBN campaign right now and I've run into it a number of times already.)
So, I'm joining the chorus: Please fix....

In the book Snow and Steel it says the majority of the troops were recent conscripts from the Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe with most having only 3 - 6 weeks of training and no combat experience. The troops that had combat experience were intermixed with them and in most cases the leaders were of good quality. But as the battle wore on the leaders were killed off as they were always at the front so that left them basically leaderless as things started to bog down. I'm pretty sure that that most if not all the tank crews were pretty experienced.

    Hello everyone,
A long time ago I took JuJus CMBN interface and made it for Fortress Itally by adding the missing mod files for vehicles, weapons, etc. Well, I just finished updating it again to include everything for Rome to Victory. Compressed, it's 7MB. I just posted it to onedrive.
Please feel free to distribute or host this file wherever. The majority of the credit all goes to JuJu. I just ported it to CMFI and updated it as needed.

Myles Keogh reacted to benpark in Should railroad embankments provide cover for infantry? They don't.
A flat rail tile is not an "embankment". Use the Editor, place the rail embankment on a height or two above the surrounding terrain. That's how you get an embankment with cover.
The cover you get from a flat (terrain and track same height) rail track isn't much good as cover from directed fire, as it would be in real life- Unless you are about 2 to 4 inches in height. In which case, hiding behind a pair of slightly raised tracks could just be a really bad idea, instead of a really, really bad idea.
