  1. I find myself looking forward to playing CMSF as a rest from the multitude of WW2 CM titles. I really like scenarios which challenge one to accomplish missions with minimal (if any) friendly casualties.
  2. Yeah, often you can't target a low target (like the ground) but anything higher - a walking man or vehicle can be seen. That's what makes the cone idea not that useful. Nice try though...

  4. They look wonderful. Are these unsuitable (re historical accuracy) for CMBN or CMRT?
  5. I am asking how the Aris mod interferes with the Umlaut mod. Is there interference only with the "normal" files? Do I only have to renumber the Umlaut "normal" files to have those also show up (randomly) with the Aris files?
  6. Is there a list of which CMRT mods will work in CMBN or CMFI - as in which units are present or not present. Altho' presumably the camo may not be historically correct for all theatres.
  7. Do I have to renumber the Henschel if the file in already tagged "muddy"? Or will those only show up only in muddy conditions. (The Aris K2 V2 mod has no "muddy" tags at all.) If so, do I only need to renumber the Umlaut Henschel "Normal" version files??

  9. I thought it was the Saudi et al causing the price crash. Higher prices meant that previously unprofitable oil fields (in the US for example) suddenly became profitable. Isn't it a strategic move by the OPEC nations who can produce cheap fuel profitably to damage the competition?

  11. What happened with CMSF is eventually, after people got a bit bored with using the west's massive firepower to basically win by blowing everything up, many realized how much fun it was to fight Red vs Red (ie: Syrian factions or uncons). It is more challenging and a little less lethal.
  12. I never tried it in CM2, but am sure that in CM1, you could run a tank directly over an inf unit (maybe it was a support unit like a gun - I can't recall) - but I do recall that the unit would surrender.
  13. FWIW I was in a Red force wargame team (made up of wargamers) at an Army base vs Blue US team of serving army officers. Our Soviets decimated the officers team forces - largely with massive Soviet arty and air. We could concentrate, the Blue team was decentralized. (Which may only go to show that wargamers are better at playing wargames than serving officers.)
  14. Doesn't loading games in a 2nd HD tend to slow em down? I was told to keep everything in the primary HD with the OS. Plus, I plan to get a large SSD to make that even faster.
  15. Uh oh... I just realized that I only have 3GB free on my HD thanks to all the other CM2 games and mods!! My BF Folder = 141GB; 135,417 files in 7,626 folders. Gotta get that new machine fast.

  17. "CMBB also works but not CMAK." That is weird. Getting a new machine soon but I think I will stick with Win 7. Don't see the advantage of 8. (What are the advantages of Win 8 in your opinion?)
  18. There are some xnt Red vs Blue campaigns developed by members for CMSF. So, the talent is there.
  19. I think MOVE is needed for units that are tired, otherwise we'd have to create such an order. I do think that HUNT is too tiring however. What was the reason for getting rid of MOVE TO CONTACT? That was an order I used all the time in CM1.
  20. You really have to get down to level one and see exactly what the troopers see. The wall may be too high and another unit is the one seeing the target. Or, your unit is on HIDE in which case his head is below the level of the wall etc.
  21. FYI: The B/W headcovering signifies Palestinian. Red/W is mostly Jordanian altho' I see that color all over the ME. Looks good so far!
  22. Hope you release em. I do also think that scenarios featuring IS/uncon forces vs conventional Iraq/Syrian army, or vs Peshmerga/PKK uncon would be the most interesting. The uncon forces have learned to NOT fight vs western forces using the western game plan advantages. By forcing close combat in urban situations and or hit and run tactics, uncon/IS forces have leveled the playing field and neutralized much of the west's firepower and tech advantages. Making scenarios in which the west can simply stand off and bombard with long range HE is going to be the rare exception to the more common uncon tactics. Now, we're down to close range knife fights which will likely be determined by who is more willing to die for their cause, and get close enuff to stick a knife thru their oppos' eyes, (or decapitate them). A professional "mercenary" army in which troops are trained to see their role as "just a job" and a step towards university credits is at a disadvantage when dealing with fanatics willing to die and take you with them.
  23. I really tried to like this system. But, just couldn't get into it. Liked the operational level aspect. But the interface seems awful.
  24. The Pack was great. But, not having well-made, tested scenarios to immediately play with the new units was a major "coitus interruptus".
