  1. I would love to playtest, Koh. However, it depends on timing as currently I have little time for anything other than visiting these boards. Am hoping to have more time to play in a couple of months.
  2. Thank you for the offer. But, I am very short on time these days, so vs AI is all I can manage and not much of that either.
  3. Used to do "TARGET BRIEF" by making several move waypoints. So, would do a regular TARGET order and have the unit move after desired number of seconds either behind cover so it no longer has LOS to shoot, or to another waypoint that gives a FACE order which replaces the TARGET order. The primary usefulness of the TARGET BRIEF order is that it has helped speed up play since it's so much easier and faster to implement.
  4. FWIW I am traveling and playing CM2 on a laptop with SSD and I find it seems to play as well and perhaps better than on my more powerful desktop.
  5. Had to do a lot of travel over the last 6 months and am still abroad for a long time. So very little time for play or here unfortunately.
  6. Ditto to the above. I still enjoy CMSF and CMA a great deal. There are many terrific campaigns and scenarios as well as mods for both games that you can d/l from the Repository (CMMODS no longer supports CMSF unfortunately). Both are a wonderful change of pace to the WW2 titles, and even though they are not as sophisticated as CMBS, I rather like the "environment" of CMSF and CMA.
  7. Very nice. Some colors seemed a bit bright, but very atmospheric movie quality.
  8. When CM1 first came out I was a big RT proponent. But, as the size of scenarios grew, WEGO became the only practical method and became far more satisfying. But, I can see the fun of playing RT if you have maybe a reinforced platoon-sized scenario. Even handling a company in RT sounds like a lot of stress. I enjoy large scenarios, but am realizing that the huge CM1 scenarios (which I still play) are not practical in CM2 due to the far greater micromanagement that CM2 demands.
  9. Yes, I get the impression that RT players stop the clock every time something happens and then issue new orders - effectively instant communications with every unit in the scenario - something not possible even today. If players can play RT all the way thru without regularly pausing, my hat is off to them.
  10. Strange... I always thought the exact opposite. In WEGO you can't make any changes for one minute, whereas in RT you can pause and instantly change the orders for every single unit on the map at any time and as often as you want. I think WEGO players need MORE time than RT for that reason.
  11. Am curious: Has anyone attempted to run wav files 00000900 thru 00001632 inclusive from their CMBB WAV folder? Since mine do not work, am wondering what they are.
  12. The graphics are truly beautiful. My point is that we don't need extra eye-candy for its own sake. If you want to add anything extra, please make it some useful info that might help speed up play. I would say that speed of play is a major issue due to the complexity of the CM2 game system (compared to CM1) and the micromanaging that is necessary in CM2 in order to "play effectively". I used to ask for larger scenarios akin to CM1. However, I have come to realize that huge scenarios that are eminently playable in CM1 are not practical in CM2.
  13. "...part of Mastering CM games consists also in personal research, manual reading, experience..." I think CM is a game and who has time for research these days? That is work and what one gets paid to do (well some of us). Personally, I want a recreation experience and a simple interface that gives me as much info as possible so that I rarely need to refer to the manual. If you want a game that requires constant consulting of the manual and research, try Grigsby's "War in The Pacific AE". I am currently playing that, and it is a real headache, albeit quite fun as a rare superb strategic level game when I burn out of tactical level games like CM.
  14. Thank you for the new campaign. they are in short supply.
  15. This is sounding better and better. Will you do an improved version, or is it good enough to release as a final version as is?
  16. What I usually miss in CM2 and CMBS especially is more detailed info regarding the weapons systems capabilities. Hopefully we will eventually get the graphical icon mods in CMBS that we have in the other CM2 series to show ammo type and effective ranges. Also, it must be rare that we need to be reminded what nationality we are playing or what sort of unit we have selected. So, that sort of info is less important to duplicate. However, what other really useful (while playing the game) info would be good to put in that upper rhs space that Kieme mentioned? For just one example: Maybe something to do with passengers, or passenger capability - like how many troops can be carried on the selected tank? Or, perhaps if the vehicle has a weapons system mounted that can be dismounted. (Note: I am NOT talking about weapons that can be AQUIRED.) For example: CMSF has some vehicular-mounted weapons that could be dismounted. But, it was very hard to figure what was dismountable without experimentation. Not sure how many (if any) CMBS has.
  17. Since we already have a flag mod in the LHS soldier face pic, is there any other useful info that could be placed in the pic with the tank?
  18. If you have a standard install of the game, go to Documents/Battlefront/Combat Mission/Black Sea/Game Files and copy the campaign game file to "Campaigns"
  19. Thank you Kieme!! Giving us ammo type and ranges would match all the other CM2 titles. Unless one is expert in the weapons systems, ranges are also essential. It takes forever to look em up in the manual. And the manual is often vague about such things.
  20. Yes this will be very welcome and helpful. Especially the weapon icons to remind us what ammo to acquire and what ranges are optimal.
  21. Wow, this sounds great. Unfortunately, due to travel it's doubtful if I have enuff time these days to do it testing justice. (What about the Estonians btw?)
