  1. Thanks. That's where my family is from so will check it out.
  2. In terms of getting info that is useful for playing the game, suggest you get the CM1 series - esp CMBB. The CM1 series had extremely useful equipment information that popped up when desired and gave range and IIRC comparative HE power. Info that for whatever reason BF decided to not include (in an easy to use format) in the CM2 series. I find the CM2 manuals not that useful for how to play the game. Better than spending many hours reading a ton of books in order to find specific info, playing CM1 will quickly teach you what you need to know to be a decent CM2 player.
  3. Truly amazing work. The test will be if the map "plays" well.
  4. I found that a CMSF mod that gave range and caliber for all weapons worked quite well in CMA. But, is your mod available for d/l??
  5. Hopefully, the French ones should be good. Maybe wine?
  6. Have been requesting an overhaul of the ACQUIRE process for years. Adjacent units should be able to swap ammo and perhaps even some weapons (all with limitations of course) and with a time delay during which they couldn't do anything except maybe take cover or react to an attack. It wastes far too much of a player's time trying to do all the orders and clicks needed for significant numbers of inf units to ACQUIRE. And if you make a mistake...
  7. Well then we may as well have ammo dump demolition... and then we get into bridge demo, minefield clearing etc. All good fun, but the "realism" grogs will object.
  8. Sorry - I wuz thinking "Empires In Arms"... Alzeimers...
  9. Bullet proof windshield mod? Actually, will be useful when doing a sim for uparmored Humvees in CMSF2 as well.
  10. It would be good to have CMSF2 have the ability to sim Afghanistan as well. I really like CMA but you can see that the 3rd party developer did weird things to make the game not compatible (eg: skins etc) with other CM2 titles.
  11. Hmm. Disturbing when you compare with the discussion how easy it is to kill the gunner of a halftrack behind his gun shield.
  12. "I still remember our first try to play "Age of Napoleon". Looked like a "beer and bretzel" game with perfect components. After three hours of rules discussion, we concluded: Unplayable." OMG - I remember that monster as well. All the hours of rules lawyering. Where does one get the "proper" rules?
  13. IIRC Only a % of roles are open to women - so there is no real equality. I love women and help them become all that they can be - my wife is very successful and am very proud of her. But, the concept that we are all equal and everyone can do everything just as well if only they were given the opportunity is a dangerous example of political correctness imo. My family is from east Europe and you wouldn't believe the crap they would eat and drink, smoke etc. But. they live to their 90's (98 and counting for one lady), while their "fit and healthy living" friends all die off. It's genetics. But, the effect of genetics is rarely discussed as it's politically embarrassing that we are not all equal and that we may well have different abilities/talents depending on genetics. It worries me that we have different test standards just so that "equality" stats can be met. Personal experience is of a company where they want to reduce the white dominance of executives. But, they can't find minority folks who are qualified. Simple solution suggested: Reduce the qualifications required. And so we live in an age of mediocrity where everyone can finally be equal.
  14. Was thinking the same. However, "Subslime" is a better moniker.
  15. That's wonderful news, Steve! PS: Are you saying that the current CMSF content (mods and scenarios) will work with CMSF2? (That would be even more wonderful.)
  16. I agree that tanks seem to spot infantry way too easily - no matter how much smoke there is (not sure if degraded AFV systems make spotting nearby inf harder).
  17. Sounds are not acted upon by AI. eg: If you have friendly AT team hiding behind a wall and a noisy enemy tank is on the other side, the friendly AT team will not notice and pop up and shoot. (At least not in the games I played.) However... I have several times seen an AT team QUICK move and in the middle of that QUICK move, they spot an enemy tank and the AI has them stop, aim and kill the enemy tank(!) before running to the next waypoint Wonderful to see that happen.
  18. If we can use CMSF mods and scenarios and campaigns in CMSF2 we will all be thrilled. Do you have a link that confirms that?
  19. Can't help thinking of those young troopers in the CV90 thread as I watched that.
  20. IIRC it was made clear that a CMSF2 will not be compatible with CMSF(1).
  21. BF says they will do an updated version of CMSF. The only sad part is that all the truly excellent content (mods and scenarios + campaigns) created for CMSF over many years will not be compatible. Each new game released has less and less user-made mods and scenarios and especially far fewer campaigns than the previous title. That could mean that many will continue to play "CMSF1".
  22. Yes am good at manipulating my mods in Z folder etc. But, Reshade in the form you have done it seems very complex by comparison in that it seems to require installation rather than just moving files into folders(??). It may be that I don't understand the concept of where it's supposed to go. (How does one reverse the process and delete it btw?)
