  1. Great video. Some of it looks like an ad for CMSF2! One can only hope that it has become the #1 priority for BF. To me all the WW2 titles are getting boringly similar to each other.

  4. The mod I use in CMSF has calibers and ranges. Most of it works in CMA. I see you also have done new screens and silhouettes for CMA. However, I think Scipio's work is easier to read. I loaded up a scenario and could not immediately find any weapons left out. If you PM me I will send you all the CMA mods I currently use which feature easy to read caliber and range. PS: This thread needs to be moved to CMA area.

  7. Some mods do not work when CM is updated. The problem is that one can't know which unless one tries em all. I have dozens, probably hundreds of mods from the early days of CM2. Don't have time to check thru em all - it would take weeks full-time. So...

  9. Sorry - meant Rinaldi I still think that mines are an effective roadblock in this case. One cannot be sure there is any way around them, and simply running trucks into a known minefield to see if or how many get blown up seems a rather unrealistic expectation (in RL). That would be my only criticism of the design - assuming the Russians cannot win by simply fighting back and destroying the Uncons.
  10. My concern is that taking geographic locations doesn't really matter and may have been a tactic to bring all those allied troops to a region and waste our money. All those ISIS folks will now disperse across the globe and it will be whack a mole all over the world. We have yet to get started in Africa, Libya, SE Asia etc etc... And that doesn't mean that homeland terrorist events are going to dissipate...
  11. It also seems that SS knew when the Hinds would appear and hence was able to get his Muj exiting b4 that happened. Otherwise, the Russian could sit in defense and wait for air power and only then coordinate an attack. The question is how much damage can the Muj do if the Russian simply hunkers down in defense and waits? Can the Muj do enuff damage and then escape b4 the Hinds appear? If they can do that then maybe the scenario needs massaging.
  12. Definitely there are tracer mods. Can't see why on can't make textures blank - but that would make ALL similar textures on ALL vehicles blank/transparent.

Unfortunately, mod sluts like me have hundreds, perhaps thousands of mods for a particular game and it's impossible to keep track without folder and subfolders. Eg I have many sub Z folders called TERRAIN; SFX; SOUNDS; UI; UNIFORMS; MOD SETS etc. Most of the time the desired mods show up if you put enough ZZZ's at the start of the desired mod folder name. (Sometimes there are unpleasant effects like a mod not showing up ie: "blacked-out".)

  16. Great video. One can almost simulate this in CMSF since we have wonderful Muj's and Uncon mods. Not sure if Syrians can be modded to look like Russians. I thought SS was playing the AI at first. Seemed odd that a 2nd and 3rd convoy would advance into a known ambush. Also, Am assuming than the Russians can only win by reorienting from a "Convoy Mission" to an "Assault Mission". ie Get the trucks back to some sort of safety and reorg the combat troops? Once one knows the bridge is mined, that makes the bridge pretty much impassible. Not sure what the point was of trying to cross it after the first explosions.

  19. Ahhh... STA = Steel Tanks Add on?? Couldn't find the d/l area for JSGME at that site. Or does one Google for it? What is the latest version? Is that good for ALL games eg SH4 WOTP etc?

  21. Am hoping that due to interest in the topic, CMSF2 has been put on the front burner for speedy release. Surely that would be the best seller at this period of time.
  22. Re your original "...how to properly use artillery, cas, and snipers." Re ARTY and CAS: You have to accept the artillery (or CAS) time delay in the CM games as they are more realistic than the average entertainment "wargames" out there. A large part of any CM game (as a player) is sitting around patiently waiting for a barrage (or CAS) - but having a plan that you can immediately put into effect as soon as the barrage starts (or ends). So, you need to evaluate clearly WHY you order a barrage - ie: pick the right target for indirect fire vs direct fire. Ideally you should be doing something while waiting for the barrage. But on a small CM map, sometimes you just have to wait. CM requires a lot of patience. One technique (maybe gamey) is to order an arty barrage at set-up on a suspected target that would benefit from being blasted but with a time delay (max allowed is 15 mins). You then spend that 15 minutes getting an FO to a position where they can confirm that there actually is a valid target at the desired spot. If not, the FO can ADJUST the barrage to another location. This is usually much quicker (and more accurate) than canceling the original barrage and ordering a new barrage. IIRC one cannot adjust CAS but you can still have it ordered so it arrives in 15 minutes over an area. Re Snipers: They have binoculars. Useful for recon - maybe partner them with (and provide overwatch for) a scout team or recon team. Ideally specialized troops like snipers, engineers and recon should be one or more experience levels higher than regular infantry. That is when you see them do good work. Snipers should be placed carefully in good covered locations with good LOS and just let them either do observation (short covered arc so they don't shoot) or long/no covered arc and let em select and shoot at their own targets (better to not use TARGET order for Snipers imo).
