I have no CLU. And I would agree with that 50% of the time.

Odd how every military puts markings on everything - except drones.

Can't get into Pz Corps for similar reasons. I loved top down games like Steel Panthers and Close Combat in their day. But when CM1 came out, nothing else (other than CM2 of course) has come close in 20 years. I like Grigsby's massive WITPAE as a top down. But that is grand strategy and top down is completely appropriate. Plus it feels realistic.

New Scenario: Tactical Operations Center
Erwin replied to MOS:96B2P's topic in CM Black Sea Maps and Mods
Am finding this all rather brilliant. Starting 4th test game now with visible improvements in every version I have played, and as yet no major issues. I was getting burned out on CM2 as all the game families started to feel like I was playing the same scenario over and over and over again - just with different uniforms and vehicles. Karl's innovative ideas to add many more tactical and operational decisions are reviving an aging game system and bringing the gameplay fun back - almost as if this is a new game system. Am enjoying this scenario more than I have any CM2 game in years. -
You mean like the 12 year old kids I get to do all my IT work these days.

A related issue with a squad picking up a spare Javelin for use by another team is that no matter how I split the squad, the Javelin seems to stay with the least appropriate team. Eg. It never stays with the AT team. The Javelin always stays with the 2-man Scout team, or the Assault team (it would be preferable to have it stay with the support section).

Nicely written review. Would love to have a good DAK game - but like CMAK. Don't think I can go back to cardboard wargame-like counters for a tactical/operational game any longer. Hate those stacks.
-
Done. You can check the phenomenon out at the large FOB where 1st Platoon sits in a set-up zone with Javelin team and supply dump with extra Javelins. Oh wait... SS just had to step in and be "The Man"... When will you finish yer own scenarios and campaigns?
-
Actually, you should be able to replicate the above in any game with US forces and Javelin teams during the set-up turn assuming one has a resupply source with spare Javelins in the same set up zone. If you cannot replicate, then yes, I need to send you the file. Am asking MOS if it's ok to let you taste his secret sauce.
-
I have a scenario set up file (it's for MOS's new scenario am playtesting) that enables you to test all the above out (in the set-up phase). It's 903KB. How best to send it to you?

Vegetation and slopes that interfere with LOS is a solution that designers have used to enable maneuver so that not every place on a less that 2Km per side map can be seen and shot at. Another example: Have you noticed that every house that looks like it has a side that would have great LOS for one's FO or MG, somehow has absolutely no windows on that side?

Have a Javelin team with 2 Javelins far away from any ammo resupply source. An inf squad ACQUIRES 1 Javelin from an ammo dump (interface shows that the squad is now carrying one Javelin). The inf squad is placed adjacent to the Javelin team. Now the Javelin team shows 4 (not 3) Javelins. If the inf squad is split into at AT team the AT team does NOT have any Javelin. However, when the rest of the squad with the Javelin is placed beside the Javelin team it now shows only 3 Javelins. If I bring back the AT team (that has NO Javelins) and place it next to the Jav team and its squad, the Jav team still has 3 Javs. However, if one allows the AT team to recombine with its squad adjacent to the Javelin team, suddenly the Jav team shows 4 Javelins again.

A bit of feedback for When Trumpets Fade
Erwin replied to Bulletpoint's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Sad if Koh has gone. Have seen that a lot over the years. Talented designers or modders put massive amounts of hours into helping improve the game, then burn out and are rarely seen again. -
I like Stummels and also Wespes etc. But, you have to have long range LOS to targets just like with any other halftrack and that makes em hard to use in the relatively short LOS CM2 maps. It's the challenge of using a vehicle with a pretty big HE gun but with paper armor that makes em fun.

New Scenario: Tactical Operations Center
Erwin replied to MOS:96B2P's topic in CM Black Sea Maps and Mods
Scenario is awe inspiring. Re mods, it would be cool to dirty up some of them like the raised gate seen above and RR end of track buffer etc. -
Seriously doubt any war there and not losing any sleep over this. Trump is playing a good game getting Bolton, a known Hawk, in there b4 mtg with NK. It's all psychology.

New Scenario: Tactical Operations Center

Yes, some of MOS's ideas are quite brilliant and never been accomplished b4. Hopefully will inspire a whole new way to design scenarios/campaigns that feature multiple "realistic" complex sub-missions. -

Thank you. Forgot that this file needed to be updated.

It's only $40. But, am not into top down essentially "computerized cardboard" tactical or operational wargames any more. I play Grigsby's massive strategic WITPAE top down game as it is a completely different animal to tactical or operational.

By all means take it Raptor. Not my cuppa... -
It's a come on to invest in a kickstarter project.

Presumably they were designed for a war which featured static front lines and required overcoming trench defenses. One can see that if you could park one above a trench line it would be devastating. Of course they were preparing for the previous war - kinda like what we are doing these days heh.
