  1. Why does hunt tend to tire your guys out? I always looked at it as no different than walking, they are just being more cautious. You'd think it would be just as easy as walking. In real life, guys would move a bit, stop, listen, continue. So, what's the deal? The stress? And yeah, add "move to contact" and change "hunt" back to how it used to be in CMX1. Mord.
  2. Yeah, it's very cool. I have seen it happen with .30 cal ricocheting off vehicles. It's definitely a code precursor to spreading fires. I was doing a test a while back and a T70 had been hit and sat smoking for maybe a turn and a half (definitely a full turn). I watched it smoking and was like, is this a bug?...and 2 seconds before the turn ended it burst into flame. Full on flames are gonna rock if they put that much thought into them. Mord.
  3. So, can we look forward to snide comments in every post or have you reached your quota today? Ok, man, we get it. You know how to code better than BFC. How's about being productive and positive for a few posts? Mord.
  4. Among other things... I do have exceptional toes, though...'least that's what my podiatrist tells me. Speaking of which, when did they add prostate exams to podiatry? I've now developed a limp that has nothing to do with my arches. Dr. Feelgood, my eye! Mord.
  5. Ain't that the truth... Mord.
  6. You're a funny guy...War movie mode LOL. Mord.
  7. No. We are not. There's nothing "complex" about stealing something that doesn't belong to you. It's a shame your parents didn't teach you that. World would be a much better place if there were less people that thought like you. Your "philosophy" is utter b***s***. But it's a great way to excuse anything anyone might do; it's not wrong to molest a child...it's a choice. It's not wrong to kill a an innocent guy standing in his yard...it's a choice...it's not wrong to take things from other people...it's a choice. LOL. WTF? Then maybe you shouldn't be playing games? I can't afford a Yacht, no matter what currency it's in...be cool to have one though...maybe I should pirate me one? I deserve it. Mord.
  8. I am, indeed. In all senses of the word. LOL. I don't ask for much out of life...and it doesn't take much to make me happy. The smell of a brand new book, a cool autumn night, a clean sheet of paper, a brand new Bic mechanical pencil. I revel in the simple pleasures of life...anything else is icing. Mord.
  9. Right now, I'd rather see that animation time put into gun movement. Mord.
  10. There is nothing subjective about right and wrong, my friend. If I take something that doesn't belong to me or that I didn't pay for, then, it is wrong, period. It's not like we are talking about a man that steals a loaf of bread to feed his starving children. A game does nothing for humanity or survivability but entertain. Theft is theft. Doesn't matter what your economic circumstances are or what country you live in. There's no gray area. No semantics. Mord.
  11. Yep. Just from the modding I did in CMSF, CMBN, and CMFI I have already gotten my monies worth. That's without the game play. I can remember that I did something involving CMBO for three years straight. I don't think I missed a day without loading it up. As entertainment value goes, I can't think of any other purchase I have ever made that has brought me as much bang for the buck as a CM game. I think part of the attraction is there are so many ways to enjoy them; playing, modding, scenario design, testing various equipment, messing around in the editor, etc. The only thing it doesn't do is feed you...if it did a lot of us would look like Jabba the Hutt with a mouse. Give me books, music, a computer, and Combat Mission and I am a happy Mord. Mord.
  12. I thought it was pretty cool. My favorite CM vids are the ones without all the game play stuff showing. My most favorite are the ones without narration but I did enjoy your banter. There is a certain charm when you can hear the enthusiasm for the game in the narrator's voice. My only criticism would be to let people see you toggle the trees on and off throughout the video just so anyone that has never seen the game understands there ARE trees. That point where the jeep is just slogging along could be confusing to newbies. And, man, I hope BFC does something with gun movement animations in the future...it just looks really bad compared to everything else that goes on in the game. It's a weak point in otherwise very nice graphics. Mord.
  13. This is gonna help a lot of people, umlaut. Thanks much! Mord.
  14. Good points but you figure, you don't have to buy every upgrade and module at the same time as they are released. If it does say, get to the point where there are 6 or 7 titles you just stretch the costs out over a longer period of time. Concentrate on buying upgrades for the handful that you are playing a lot at that moment and then a few weeks down the road another couple, so on and so forth. It's not near as overwhelming that way. Mord.
  15. This is a hard question! I am really getting excited about Black Sea. I'll probably get worse, once they start showing us more. CMSF really got me into modern like I didn't know I could be, so having a 3.0 modern game with all the bells and whistles is gonna kick some major butt. I am looking forward to learning about the new weapon systems and Russian equipment. I love being out of my comfort zone when it comes to kit. I see it as a chance to expand my knowledge and interests. I am also counting the days until they upgrade CMSF. That probably has me most excited, at the moment. Really though, I am just happy all around. Everything that is in the pipeline has me pumped up. I LOVE that fact that there are so many choices headed our way, in so many different flavors. The CMX2 engine (and it's upgrades) is like seeing for the first time compared to the black abyss that was the years between CMBO and BN. Just knowing our titles are not frozen in time makes every title/module/pack better than the last...because as each one is released more of the future is laid out...and what may lie in that future, and the future of our games is the most exciting of all. That, there, fellas...is known in the Wargame Biz as optimism! Mord.
  16. Yes. From an overall game stand point, the most significant addition, the one that gives much bang for the buck, and will completely change scenario making and game play from here on out are AI triggers. But since I bought CMBN way back before they even told us there'd be upgrades, I am entitled to the AI triggers for free...along with anything else they decide to put in the games, from now until eternity. Mord.
  17. How about they just don't upgrade CMBN or CMFI with anything from here on out? There ya go...you saved ten bucks! Your world would then be at peace again. Hopefully, the pessimism and misery that's been displayed on here over the last two days won't dictate the future for the rest of us. It'd be a sad day in hell if some of you guys influenced BFC into stopping these upgrades. And the sick thing is, some of you'd be happy about it. Cheap *** ****** ******* PERIOD. Mord.
  18. Agree. There's a dark feel to CMA that I really like. I don't know why. maybe because it was Russia's Vietnam. But I dig this game. Mord.
  19. Looking really nice, Kieme. That dome is damn nifty. Mord.
  20. Glad to hear you are still using them, Letha. The vehicle chatter mod adds better atmosphere than the background mod, I think. You end up only hearing chatter when you are near vehicles and you don't notice once it starts to loop like you might with the background stuff. Of course, some people may use both. Mord.
  21. Yeah, when I mod I shrink the map down to the smallest size and only load what mod unit/model that I am working on. It saves some time. Mord.
  22. I believe the helpdesk provides some kind of scrubber software so that you can clean your CM keys off the computer and load new hardware without wasting any Keycodes. Mord.
  23. You could actually set the 3D model quality (before entering the game) as Fastest, then, during the game toggle through the model quality settings using the { } keys. Granted, you will have to redo this every time you leave the game but it may save you some time during loading. Mord.
