  1. You are all welcome. Hope you all get a kick out of it. I'll probably update it when the Repos goes up. I am still not happy with the Bradley file. Wasn't there a Bradley sound mod for CMSF? If anyone knows where it is could you give me the link, I may try altering that one. The original sounds too squeaky and doesn't blend very well with the chatter. Mac users, please chime in and let me know the mod is working ok for you. I am pretty sure I got the properties for the files right but wanna make sure. Also note in the readme there are files (as of right now) that you don't ever have to take out of your z folder. Files that aren't shared. That will probably get a bit more complicated once they release some addons. But as it stands, the moving files for the US; Brad, Abrams, Stryker, and Humvee won't be shared with any of the Russian/Ukraine stuff. Mord.
  2. Stuff looks really great, Kieme. You've been a busy dude. Mord.
  3. That's crazy, they aren't even that big—too big to email, but the Mac version is only 68 Megs. The other is half that. Let me try a couple links to dropbox. 4. Not possible unless they were hidden under the helmet, and the helmet came off. I haven't played any battles yet so I don't know if CMBS guys lose their helmets. But there are no dedicated textures for wounded/dead dudes, all soldier textures are the same live, wounded or dead. Mord.
  5. That stretcher base is damned creative. Mord.
  6. Pretty much what it says. When you add this to your game you'll get static laden radio chatter coming from all your vehicles (while sitting and moving). SEE the readme for all the info. There's regular and Mac versions. Links are after the pic. And if by chance there's a lot of down loads and my bandwidth runs out on Mediafire do what you guys can to help get the files to people that missed out. PC Version http://www.mediafire.com/download/4q9qbyrpo89kg33/Mords_Vehicle_Radio_Chatter_Mod.zip Mac Version http://www.mediafire.com/download/3vhtqvex64e1jqo/Mords_Vehicle_Radio_Chatter_Mod_MAC_VERSION.zip NOTE: For guys that might read this in the future the Black Sea Repository section should be up so, just check for it there. Mord.
  7. What took you so long? Games almost been out a week. Mord. P.S. Good show, buddy. I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with for this one.
  8. To illustrate waclaw's response a little bit more succinctly, if you say, have a brz or folder named "waclaw's Sounds" and one named "akd's sounds", the one that is furthest down the alphabet chain takes precedent. The game reads the folders/ brz files sequentially. So, whatever files waclaw has that are duplicates of akd's will overwrite akd's because "w" (waclaw) is further down the alphabet chain than "a" (akd). If waclaw only has one sound for a 50. cal and akd has three, waclaw's 50. cal will only overwrite the files that have the same exact name. The beauty of CMX2 sounds (at least as far as weapons effects go) is that it isn't an all or nothing deal. If you like all of akd's stuff and all of waclaw's stuff you could just rename all of the files to play together. In the example above he showed the m4 gun 5 0, m4 gun 5 1, well, you could just rename all of them sequentially and use both mods together if you wanted (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.). Or pick the best of each. It's set up to be definable by taste. As an example; my old CMSF sound files are a mix of every single sound mod that was ever released for the title. Hope that wasn't too confusing. Mord.
  9. Oh, yeah, I gotchya, I had the moving sound in my head when I typed that. Yeah, the Abrams is the only vehicle that gets its own special idle file, everything else is shared across the different nations. Mord.
  10. You sure about this? I have been messing with the files all day and the T-64 is using the mod I made and the Brad is using another. There's only one T-64, right? Mord.
  11. Depends on the vehicle...most had their own sounds, some were shared with Syria. ALL engine idle sounds were shared across the nations. Mord.
  12. Absolutely the smartest and most important thing you can learn while modding. I can't count how many times I neglected to save templates thinking I'd never need them again. I learned that lesson well after redoing the CMBN portraits for like the third time and having to start completely from scratch each time. Now, I have templates with just heads, patches, you name it, so whenever I have to return to it I have a lot of the grunt work already complete. I won't make a mod now without having tons of templates saved for every little thing. It can save you tens upon tens of hours (as you know) having those files pre-made and ready to go...especially if you are updating something. For anybody new to modding take this advice seriously, it will save you a lot of heartache. BTW really nice work, Kieme. Mord.
  13. Even with the vehicles it's hit and miss. The engine idles are all shared, and certain movement engine sounds get shared. Not that big of a deal until you start modding them with particular ideas in mind. It'll get worse though once they start adding other nations. You'll see what I mean pretty soon. I am working on something as I write that will highlight my point. Mord.
  14. Yep. I knew what you meant. My point was if you'd seen those movies enough those particular files would probably draw your ear. The second you hear the wav you are gonna go "Hey, that was such and such, from such and such movie, the scene where this and that happens" which in my opinion would take you out of the moment. The other problem would be getting clean versions without music and movie sounds being part of the clip. And then there's the recording quality compared to other files. Mine, for example, aren't as clean sounding as some clips taken from other games. Like I said, it's all personal preference—what your ears enjoy. Someone could give it a try and see how well it sounds. Madmatt did an SPR mod for CMBO and it was so-so because of a lot of what I listed. What's up Dietrich? Long time no see. Mord.
  15. EDITED: I was able to save it. This is what I wrote: Not really. The sounds are all labeled the same with a number after them which makes them random (Ex. helicopter 1, helicopter 2 etc. ). You could technically load up just a Hind sound file for all the helicopters if that's the helo support you picked for a scenario, but if the AI or your opponent has helos in their force selection you'll hear the same thing for them. A scenario designer could do a mod tag for a specialized battle, say, but still the opfor would not be able to have that particular aircraft (jet or copter) in their arsenal without the sfx being shared. Mord.

  17. I could see where that would be kinda cool but a big problem is making everything gel together and I always aim for an overall aesthetic if that makes sense. As far as my voice mods go I try really hard to make the files unobtrusive to the ear. By that I mean, draw you in and immerse you but keep them generic enough that you don't get drawn to any one wav file. Essentially I want them in the background adding to the atmosphere not upfront in your face. If I had say some quotable snippets from movies in there I think it would break the realism. That's just my take on it. Once it's out there people can mix and match to get the best results for their own ears. Mord.
  18. LOL. Thanks, brotha! I still remember that awesome review you gave me on my second shot at the CMSF mod. It made the entire effort worth it. Mord.
  19. Thanks, Splinty. I have something in mind but need the right time to do it. I may actually be able to get some other "actors" involved this time. And if I do get then I'll probably be able to update CMBN's mod as well. But like I said, it's the timing, I live in an apartment attached to my uncle's house so I need to wait until he takes off (which should be fairly soon), I doubt he'd understand all the screaming coming through the walls. Mord.
  20. You guys better completely avoid CMBN, FI, and RT because your delicate sensibilities will completely shattered if you ever play those games. I always get a kick out of the self-righteous manufactured outrage that flows like water nowadays. People live their lives just praying something will pop up and offend them. Mord.
  21. Damn! It's a Tom sighting! It's like Groundhog's Day but only comes around about every three years. Mord. P.S. Did you see your shadow?
  22. Crushing my enemies, seeing them driven before me, and hearing the lamentations of their women.

  23. My biggest lesson from playing CMSF (and this will probably apply even more for Black Sea) is that mistakes will come at a HUGE price. WWII isn't very forgiving in itself but compared to Modern, it's a picnic when you screw up. I remember one game where I thought I had a street cleared so I sent in a squad of Marines. They were trucking along towards their waypoint destination and up pops an uncon with an rpg in a five story building directly in front of them. He took all of two seconds to plop a round dead center...BOOM!...scratch one squad...or at least 90% of it. One guy, one round, two seconds, and I was looking at a massive amount of KIA/WIAs and the removal of a helluva a lot of fire power from that particular mission. It's a fine line between caution and balls...and you are gonna lose many a dude finding out were that balance is. In other words, it's gonna rock! Mord.
  24. LOL Too late, already picked up Medieval II, Rome II Emperor Edition, Shogun II, and Sniper Elite V2 during that huge Steam sale. I did a bunch of reading on Rome and figured with all the patches and mods it would be doable at this point. There was a lot of bitterness to wade through and took a good portion of it with a grain of salt—I know how petty gamer's can be and sometimes they go on these hate-quests that actually cause me to be more wary of them than the game (CMSF and CMX2 taught me that). Youtube was a big help, I got enough pointed criticism and fair reviews to figure I'd be good with my choice...and hopefully they'll throw a few more patches in before they abandon it. I still have three DLCs to get for Rome and about five for Shogun. Which I am gonna do for my birthday this month, I think. Right now I have just been playing around setting up and testing small battles to see how the fighting works and testing mods to see what looks good and helps with actual unit tactics. I'll say one thing, the battles in both Shogun and Rome are engrossing, specially with the blood packs! I love all that carnage. I am interested in Attila—looking forward to getting it. But I will probably wait a while unless it comes out of the gate without a bunch of problems. Mord.
  25. Thanks for the info. I'll probably put that in my list for after I get Black Sea and the rest of Rome II and Shogun II's DLC. Mord.
