  1. I was wondering what divisions/formations would be found in Black Sea for the Americans, Russians and Ukrainians? I didn't see anything in the PDF about it. Kinda sounded like they wanted it to be abstract. A list would be great for scenario designers and modders to give us all an idea of what would be viable and realistic in this setting. Mord.
  2. Great. We'll have a nice little selection to keep them fresh. Thanks. Mord.
  3. The Nashorn was originally in CMBN but was taken out. The VP Nashorn bmps may have been left over by accident seeing they are shared by the Hummel. There's been a few examples of bmp textures left behind that the game doesn't actually use, such as the red berets in CMBN and the kaeppi caps in Red Thunder. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/93376-cmbo-cmbn-equipment-comparrison-chart/#entry1211258 Nice work btw, as usual. Nashes and Hummels look awesome. Mord.
  4. It would be really great if BFC would include some stuff like Kieme is making in the next module. The games are really getting to the point where everything looks the same, and some more dedicated modern objects, like civilian vehicles would really add to the atmosphere. If they get around to uncons they could maybe make some cars/trucks and such where we could pick them in the editor and have a choice that marks them as parked (removes passengers from game), instead of dismounted/immobilized that way they wouldn't be sitting around idling, would provide cover and concealment (until destroyed) and also still be subject to FOW (though that's not that big a deal to me). Anything would help, because the houses and stuff just don't feel that modern to me at this point. EDITED: Or maybe the few maps I have seen so far just haven't utilized everything to their potential. I'd still like to see the vehicles irregardless. Mord.
  5. I think what he is saying is that if you don't think rubble provides decent protection, read about what the Allies dealt with at Monte Casino. Mord.
  6. I can't speak for improvised but I think it's high time we see some Dragon's Teeth. Which, if included, will be a first for any CM game. They'd definitely be something for the engineers to tackle. I personally am really hoping they can improve fog. It's pretty bad as it stands. The extreme setting isn't even visually as thick as CMX1's light setting. Mord.
  7. It's really cool being able to flow back and forth depending on what your interests dictate at any moment. Between CM and Total War I have just about all my historical warfare/history interests covered...all that's really missing for me now is Nam and Korea. I think this is the best time I've ever seen in PC wargaming. I really dig having all these choices. I've said it many, many times but it's really cool being able to read a book, or watch a documentary and then jump straight into a game and interact with the subject matter so intimately. Although CM and Total War are completely different games, I am finding TW scratches the same itch Combat Mission does. I didn't think I'd like TW (only ever played Shogun I) but I am really taken with it. I have managed to pick up Rome II, Shogun II, Medieval II, Empires and Napoleon (with all the DLCs) since December through 75% off sales. TW fills in the gaps CM couldn't, and now thanks to both, I am in history heaven. As an example of what I was saying in the first paragraph, I was watching Turned on Netflix the other day, so I decided to start a game of Empires (using Darth Mod). I picked Britain for my campaign so I could eventually act out the Revolution. Last night the Huron and Iroquois declared war on me. A massive force of Huron ended up over running a small trading post I had on the Hudson Bay (my only British foothold on the continent at the moment). They killed everyone to the last man. I already had a ship with troops inbound, figuring the Indians would be attacking there, and wanted to bolster the defenses but it was too late. When my guys landed they tried besieging the captured post but the Huron counter attacked. When it was all over 54 out of 500+ of the Crown's men were all that remained. The survivors ended up fleeing north west along the bay, deeper into the wilds, in the middle of winter. A couple turns later France declared war on me after I attacked the Cherokee. Thus began my version of the French Indian War. THAT is why I love these games! CM and TW both draw you in (albeit in different ways), involve you, surround you with their history and provide the vehicle to tell your own stories. And for me, in particular, that is the main draw. It really doesn't get much better than that. And the Bulge will be one more setting to add to the mix—one more stage to showcase the drama. Mord.
  8. I was thinking the hammer might come down on this one but didn't want to jinx it. I always figured we were pushing the boundaries with hex edits but I guess actual model manipulation would be a mod too far. Then again I was only assuming 'cause I still don't know exactly what sbob is doing to the models, if anything, other than looking at them. Mord.
  9. With your skills you are gonna be a rich dude one day. So, by doing all that is there potential for actually applying it to the game? Like changing them or making completely new versions? Mord.
  10. I doubt they won't slip some new things in. They always do. Mord.
  11. Save the theatrics. You're as transparent as ever and apparently, genetically incapable of hiding the real you. The only question that remains is how long we'll be subjected to this "performance" before the ban button is pressed for the fourth time. You are like forum herpes...just when we think you are gone here comes another flare-up. Other than that, welcome back! Mord.
  12. Original setting with an extended timeline. I always thought the two or three months we had in CMSF was way too optimistic—at least a year would be nice. Here's what I said a few months back (it still applies); "I definitely DON'T want them updating CMSF 2's setting; Keep it Syria, keep the time frame (but they could expand it beyond a couple months). At this point it has history, even if it's fictitious history, it's our history, that we all helped create. I just wanna see them update it to the new engine and such, maybe add some extra equipment/forces if we are lucky. The newest bells and whistles will really add a lot of depth to it. They could always create a spinoff module for some newer setting or what have you, but c'mon, leave CMSF in Syria, circa 2008." Mord.
  13. I was wondering how long it would take for his inner-Adolf to pull out the poms-poms. This guy just can't help giving himself away. It's like retarded clock work, the same exact MO every...single...time. You'd think after being banned in triplicate he'd figure out a way to suppress it all...but in record time we are graced with yet another one man circle jerk...which I predict will once again end in tears...and blisters. It's downright pathological. Mord.
  14. I don't understand. What exactly are you doing here? making new models? editing models? If so, I didn't know that either was even possible! So, technically could you create completely new buildings for the game? Please explain, 'cause I am completely lost as to what is going on here. Mord.
  15. Unfortunately I don't have them. The US version is from CMSF and the Russian stuff was just some clips I grabbed off Youtube. Normally I have all my stuff backed up but I didn't this time (for Russians, CMSF stuff is two computers ago gone). I actually did a background mod with radio chatter but it's also long gone. The only ones I have left (on the Repos) are the backgrounds with soldiers screaming + radio chatter. There is a background mod in the CMSF Repos that has just radio chatter for the US side. It's a design decision that came after many, many, hours of testing, cussing, and hair pulling. From all my testing, any lower and the chatter got lost in the engine noise and it all becomes a big garbled mess. But it's not supposed to be realistic, it's for atmosphere. Think of it like the Tie Fighter noises in Star Wars...we all know there's no sounds in space but the effects add to the immersion even though they are completely bogus. The only vehicles in the game you'd probably hear any radio chatter from in Real Life would be the Humvees, Tigers and trucks. Mord.
  16. Then there ya go. It wasn't wasted time. Kinda weird that after all these years Mac guys are still officially out of the loop. I can remember way back when they said Mac mod tools were forth coming (circa 2008). That was even before they had an actual Mac version of CMSF. For some reason the mod tools wouldn't work even when Mac users were using the Windows version. I personally don't use the brz format when I make mods so that people can go right in and take what they want without having to explode the file. This will definitely make it easier for Mac guys to get at the base game files by being able to explode the brzs, seeing their only alternative would be to have a Windows user send them the files. The first step I always take when BFC releases a new title or module is to explode the brzs for easy access/research so I can see where this will be a godsend for Mac users. LOL. OK I now withdraw my first post...I have seen the light/point. Mord.
  17. I don't know. I know during CMSF's heyday Mac users couldn't do anything regarding brzs. I am not sure now, though. I was thinking about that when I was watching your video...wondering whether Mac users could use it but figured you'd made it for Windows 'cause you were using Windows. And I haven't heard any Mac guys complaining about not being able to unpack/pack brzs in the last couple years. But if that is the case (Mac users can't deal with brzs) then you definitely made something that will benefit them. Only way we'll know is if a Mac guy speaks up. As far as Linux goes, I don't even know if CM runs on it. Mord.
  18. While I applaud your initiative (and obvious skills) I don't understand the point of this. I can go into the mod tools folder, drop in files and pack or unpack brzs with one click. I don't have to DL any third party programs or have to learn a hundred different commands. It seems like you created a more complicated way to do what we already can, with the tools BFC has already provided us. With that said, welcome aboard. I look forward to seeing what else you might come up with. Mord.
  19. It's not. Hint...Sieg Heil! Another hint...Cross of Iron Last hint...superdouche x 2 + 12. Mord.
  20. I uploaded the file to the Repos 8 days ago and it still hasn't shown up. Then I uploaded again yesterday or the day before still nothing. WTF? Mord.
  21. UPDATE: After much pain-in-the-assery it looks like the Mac version is finally working. Buzz tested it and all vehicle sounds are playing in his games. So, I just uploaded the revised version to the Repos. Let me know if it works for the rest of you. @Ordeal, sorry may man, that is a can of worms I don't wanna open. Believe it or not making just one file takes about an hour and there are like 19 files. I cannibalized half the mod from an old CMSF one I made so that saved me a little time but with all problems I have had getting this to work right, I am sick of dealing with it. This was the worst mod I have ever done from a technical issues standpoint. Mord.
  22. I don't know, I think I worry more about infantry now than in CM WWII. You figure a single squad probably packs 5X the punch of a Stuart. Death can come from anywhere in this game. Javs can reach out from huge distances and piss in your Cheerios. Spotters can bring in silent death while never having to come close to the enemy. RPGs have a decent enough range (1000 m) that I am really paranoid about where they might be lurking. I am learning not to take any unit for granted in Black Sea especially infantry. I think mostly you just need to get used to them and the differences in the technologies. Give it five or six games and you'll probably find that sweet spot between aggression and stealth Mord.
  23. My design plan has always been to make my sound mods blend into the landscape so that you get the effect but aren't sidetracked by it, or drawn to it, if that makes sense. With the chatter you have all that beeping and booping and static gibberish playing in the background giving you a sense of communications going back and forth but no particular word or phrase that is gonna pop out and catch your ear every minute or so because it is a looped track. I always figured if that happened people would end up hearing it every time and it eventually would start to irritate them. Thanks, Ian. Glad you are enjoying it. Mord.
  24. Cool. Good deal. I'll get a revised Mac version up as soon as I can. Mord.
