  1. I checked into it last year. It looks like fun. But I had a couple problems; I couldn't find a demo. And demos for me are very important when it comes to seeing how well my comp will handle something. That's my first priority...next would be actual game play. The second being that it's RTS...the thing I dislike most about these games is built right into the name; Real Time. These guys make these incredibly beautiful games, like Rome II and Wargame, in full glorious 3D, but when you play them (as you see in the video) it's from the nosebleeds, and you are all over the screen clicking this little unit and that little unit, and something goes boom, so you jump over here, and something goes boom over there, so you jump over there, and you are all over the place. Meanwhile, you have these gorgeous, jaw dropping graphics going to waste because you are so busy clicking everywhere you don't have time to enjoy them. I never understood the point of the 3D when you spend the entire game well above the battle. Now, if there is a save feature where you can re-watch afterward that goes a long way in helping with that, at least you can go back and see 80% of what you missed while you were just trying to beat the scenario. But that is exactly why I like CM. I can play in WEGO and get the benefit of the VCR instant replays on each turn which do play out in real time. I don't have to miss any of what the game was supposedly designed to show me. The 3D graphics are there to enhance the game play and immersion, if they weren't then all these games would look like Steel Panthers. LOL. It's not that I am old, or crotchety (like a lot of RTSers will tell you), it's that I want to enjoy all the game has to offer, not just the clicking faster than my enemy part. It's really hard to find that happy medium with these full on Real Time games. For every one cool thing you get to see, you are missing twenty on the other side of the map. I want to see all of it. But I'll probably give this one a try eventually. Mord. P.S. does it have a replay feature, and single player missions? A battle editor? It was almost a year ago when I checked it out.
  2. Are you always this arrogant or only when you get answers that you don't like? Show us your game company seeing that you are the authority telling a guy who has made his living for the last twenty years making games how he should run HIS business. You're coming off as a snide, petulant broken record that got his answers but refuses to accept that BFC doesn't agree. Do you work for Steam or something? You get paid in referrals? You sound like some kinda goose-stepping fanatic. A Steam-Trooper LOL. So, yeah, I am gonna keep wondering what is wrong with you. Mord.
  3. LOL. I don't know but his axe is now a nub. Mord.
  4. LOL. Man, what is wrong with you? Mord.
  5. You are the only one I was hoping would acknowledge me...and now I do feel hip. Well, we can't all be super cool, insider programers with our fingers on the pulse of the software industry making snide remarks about BFC and how little they know, in every post...but if we get a guy like you to talk to us we can sure feel like we are. It's that "I spent the night at a Holiday Inn" osmosis. Mord.
  6. Yeah...I guess it is because I don't even care one way or the other about the topic but I keep responding. I guess this is how we blow off STEAM waiting on a new release. Yep...I went there. Mord.
  7. I'll reply in any thread I wanna reply in, you dig? Take your own advice. Don't like it, don't read it. Goes both ways. He isn't having a discussion he's giving you guys the same f***** answers he's given a hundred other times that then are ignored... Steve: For the hundredth time this is our position (insert long explanation). Steamie-Krishna: Nuh uh! Steve: Uh huh. Steamie-Krishna: You are elitist! Steve: That's our answer. Steamie-Krishna: No it isn't Mord: Something, something, something (usually halfway witty). Angry Steamie-Krishna: You can't post here, this is for converts only. So on and so forth...until Steamie-Krishnas have conquered all of gamedom. Mord.
  8. Face it Steve, you just don't know what you are talking about. Wind. Spit. Repeat. Steamie-Kirishna! Steamie-Krishna! Mord.
  9. Steve, you are spitting into a howling wind. A deaf, blind, howling wind. Mord.
  10. I noticed 'cause you are always telling us. But anyway I don't have a dog in this fight. If BFC stays away from Steam I am fine. If they join up with Steam, I am fine. It has no bearing on my existence or gaming. So, ok software genius type guy...see if you can figure out how to fix the blood bug in Shogun II. You do that and I'll join the Steam scream team. Mord.
  11. So, show us this super successful game company that you created—you always seem to have a smarmy little dig to throw out there—put your money where your mouth is. Show us this ingenius ground breaking tactical wargame you've made, show us your super-awesome website, and show us your massive sales figures. You seem to be quite the authority. Show BFC how it's done. Mord.
  12. I don't give a **** either way, whether it's there or isn't, but they said NO. Stamping feet and crying about it every month or two doesn't change what they said. That's the point. No still pretty much means no in most dictionaries. Steve possibly, yet again, spending precious time explaining why they said no, on the fifteenth stupid @ss Steam argument is a waste of resources. I'd rather have him talk about the actual game. Big deal, 1200 views...every argument thread gets lots of views. Wait, let me guess...it's the magic of Steam! Steam makes reading fundemental! Lose 100lbs of fat in only 9 hours...with Steam! Got wrinkles...Steam will fix them! LOL. Look, I am on Steam. I have no problem with Steam. I have Rome II, Shogun II, Medieval II, Left 4 Dead, and Sniper Elite V2 all on Steam. So, what? Mord.
  13. Thanks, Normal Chris Dude! Or better yet, AAR-ors? Mord.
  14. You guys don't bother beating the dead horse you go right to the corpse fornication....here are just a few of the half a hundred threads on this tired (answered a million times) argument. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/104171-steam/ http://community.battlefront.com/topic/115759-combat-mission-and-steam/ http://community.battlefront.com/topic/114499-combat-mission-and-steam/ http://community.battlefront.com/topic/84898-combat-mission-on-steam/?hl=steam#entry1554732 When people who have been here a long time, and particpated in many a thread on this subject tell you it's been discussed to death...yeah, just ignore them. Here's the deal, BFC doesn't want to do it. Get over it. Mord. P.S. Jim Jones called and wants his Kool-aid back.
  15. I am always at a loss how people can't be interested. I doubt BFC could put out a CM game that wouldn't capture my imagniation somehow, regardless of how obscure or foreign the theater/topic would be. Sometimes I think I might be cursed with an overabundance of curiosity...as in not enough lifetimes to learn and delve into all the areas I'd like. And yeah, I have noticed all the new blood since the new forum opened. It's nice to get all the fresh faces and perspectives—keeps things from getting stagnant. Mord.
  16. This is a great Christmas bone! The one thing I hope we'll see (and I know it's a minor thing in the overall scope of the game) is some better looking pine trees. Pines that scream "Hey, I am a pine tree!" The ones we have right now just don't look/feel very "piney" to me. Sounds like it's gonna be another great CMing year! Lots of cool things ahead. Mord.
  17. We have anybody here that never played CMSF planning on buying Black Sea? Do you play RT, BN, FI? Or will this be your first CMX2 game? I am gonna be interested to see how well you guys handle the culture shock of the technology leap. I actually had to unlearn a few things stepping backward in time from CMSF to BN. Modern had beat caution into my brain so much I was loathe to lose a single team once back on the WWII battlefield...it made me cagey and unwilling to take many chances. Whelp, if the body count in my latest game of BN is any statement, I can rest assured I have been cured. I am really looking forward to Black Sea and even us Shock Force vets are gonna have some major learning to do—habits from both WWII and CMSF will need some adjusting. It looks like it is gonna be a really fun game. Let me know what you guys are looking forward to and what you think your hurdles might be stepping into the modern arena for the first time. Mord.
  18. The explosion pixels (shrapnel) look really nice, they are smaller and rounded, much better asthetically. It's funny how something so seemly small can make such a difference to the visulas. EDITED: Or does the "Shrapnel is modeled with higher fidelity" mean something completely different than visual effects and I just haven't played RT enough to realize the pixels had already been changed? Thanks for the patch. I wasn't even close to expecting another one antime soon. Mord.
  19. Yeah, but what about it? It's old, from Nov 8th. Or did he think it was just uploaded? Mord.
  20. Metalhead, hell yeah. Hippy...ewwwwww. Rockin' Harry is another longhair as well, I believe. So what was Sergei talking about "notice anything new", with the video? Mord.
  21. Gravatar is what I meant to say. It must've been grabbed from there. Mord.
  22. Very cool. Lots of nifty little options...but how the hell did my picture upload here? That was really weird. I don't do facebook but I do have a Goodreads and Discus account. Mord.
  23. No worries, glad you liked them. My progress has been a bit slow lately. Been really busy with my father's Christmas lights (Iam finally done I think) and am suffering like a MFer with a molar infection/cavity. But after Weds I should be back on track—gonna have it pulled. I can't wait, I've been nursing it for a month but the last five days or so I have been in agony. Once it's pulled I am gonna tape it to a mass of bottle rockets, shoot it into the sky, and blow it up. Mord.
  24. I'd really like to have completely separate vehicle sounds for both sides along with the turret traverse. And a sound for RPG rockets when they fly by. Mord.
