  1. Thanks. I couldn't find the plain Priest. But I agree with the "just because it was in CMBO" statement. BFC has had 15 more years of research behind them and by looking at it, anything that was cut, for whatever reason, well we sure benefited with the other vehicles that were added that's for sure. My main reason for updating this was to show that just because the timeline may have shrunk doesn't mean the content has. On the contrary, it's swelled. Once the Bulge and it's modules come out and we have the full "CMBO experience" it's going to be beyond what anyone had imagined when this thread was first posted! I'd like to see someone do a list like that of CMBN and CMBO. LOL. Not me, though it probably wouldn't be too hard if you just went by the titles of the formations. But I'll bet when those are added into what I've posted here people will start to understand just how much more there really is. If you look at the "smaller scoped" titles as a whole (CMBN/Bulge = CMBO) etc. You start to grasp how much more vast our experience is gonna be compared to CMX1. That's what I was trying to say to some of those guys in that RT thread, who can only see the right now. If RT (and the other Eastern Front titles) go the same way CMBN has it'll be beyond what CMBB was. But some people can't look past their nose. Yeah, we get smaller portions of content doled at a time but in the end it works out better and BFC can assure they stay fed while it's happening. Mord.
  2. I thought that Jeep was in CMBO. It may have even been a typo, I can't even remember adding it I was so tired. It was a real PIA hornet's nest. I found quite a few mistakes from the original list I made at the beginning of this thread. BFC hasn't added the code yet for HTH sharing of content as far as I remember. That was/is their plan, though but it's been a while since anything was mentioned. Right now to use what's in all of the modules/pack in PBEM or RT HTH, both people have to own the content that is portrayed in the scenario or QB selections. EDITED: Looking at the online CMBO vehicle list (I originally made my list from using the CMBO game editor) I gave CMBO credit for a medium MG Jeep instead of the .50 Cal version. CMBO didn't have a Jeep with a .30 as far as I remember. So, it doesn't change the tally count, just the unit. Mord.
  3. My first addition to the RT version of the After Action Series is more of a tool than what was discussed above. You can use it for your AARs to high light specific damage or just as a forensic kit to help you better identify battlefield damage. I got the idea awhile back from Bil H, he used something similar in his BETA AAR for RT. This pic will give you a good idea of what I mean. I would've never have noticed the ricochet after the shell pierced the gun mantle. I thought that was really interesting and cool. Mord.
  4. I have had this idea for a VERY long time now and decided to go ahead and post and see where it leads. With the addition of hit decals to CM, BFC upped the cool/immersion factor by a mile. The holes and ricochets on tanks and vehicles really adds to the experience. But the one problem I find we have is that vehicles just still look too pristine, even after they have burned for ten turns or suffered a catastrophic brew up. Yeah, we have ragged holes but nothing else to tell the tale. That's where the After Action Series of mods step in. Having seen the pioneering work that Blimey, Umlaut, and Kieme have done playing with vehicle flavor objects and the manipulation of alpha channels and such, I thought it would be cool to try and start a series of mods that can be used to show more extensive damage to vehicles in game. They would look great in AARs or just plain old screen shots. Or if you only had one type of the particular destroyed vehicle you could load the mod and leave it for the duration of your game. Here's a before and after example of what I am talking about. These were done very quick and dirty just to illustrate and emphasize the cool factor. Imagine what they could be with some thought and effort. Yeah, the shiny decals would need to be addressed. The project is open to everyone. There's no rush, it's something that can be done over time, here and there. We have a lot of talented guys that haven't flexed their modding muscles in a while...MJ, DC, ahem. All I would ask of anyone is that you follow a few very simple rules to keep the project coherent. 1. When filling out the name in the File Title bar on the upload info form start it with AAS, so when it is uploaded to the Repos they will all be in order and people can find them together as a whole. Example: "AAS Destroyed Greyhound". A lot of us usually put our name first but in this case it would be best to have it further down the title or just put it on the promo screen shot. 2. Put "After Action Series" in your promo shot (that'll help identify them at Gaj's) and people will start to recognize it's a collection. 3. Announce your mod in this thread and we can keep an updated list of what's been made as we go. Though, It won't matter if guys end up doing some of the same vehicles and what not, you can't have enough carnage! I am gonna start a thread in each mod forum to cater to each flavor of CM. I hope you guys like the idea and will join in. Mord.
  5. Yeah, there's enough out there I think where they could squeeze another pack out. The French were left out completely, the Wasp is MIA, quite a few German AT guns unless new research showed they weren't in service at the time. I am sure we could find enough to warrant a release. LOL. I couldn't remember what was said about the Jumbo (and was too lazy to read more). I spent 9 hours compiling what I thought would take me about 2, and I was was pretty fried by the time I posted this. So that puts it down to 7 MIA. It's funny seeing the completed list after all the speculation way back when. We really ended up with a lot of killer equipment. A couple of my choices for what constitutes a countable vehicle could probably be disputed but even if you sheared 20 off the list, it is a huge amount, and out numbers CMBO. So much for the quantity argument. I didn't take it any other way, I was just joking along...except for the exhuming bodies part...I never joke about my sex life. Mord.
  6. Yep, DC got it right on both counts. The modding would be of in game BMP textures and even parts of the vehicle models themselves (as in removing things with alpha layers). I referenced flavor objects just because those guys had done a lot of model manipulation making their vehicle flavor objects look beat up. Actual game vehicles is the way to go because even when knocked out they can afford units some benefits such as protection. In the Greyhound example I could have a couple different versions of damage textures, the one you see, something else, and maybe an alpha layered version that makes the turret look half gone/ripped open etc. It's all up to the imagination. Just look at the craziness umlaut has been able to create as a great example of forward thinking. Mord.
  7. @Doodlebug...You're welcome. A man's gotta to finish what he starts...even if he looks like a girl. Mord. P.S. It's not the first body I have exhumed...

  10. Funny you said that cause in the original thread I started, MikeyD said the same thing. Italy and CMAK weren't a part of CMBO or my tally. But there is a tally here from Sequioa for CMFI. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/107802-cmfi-vs-cmak-vehicle-comparison-list/?hl=commonwealth Now, the final tally for CMBN...even if one argues some of my of choices for what includes new vehicles (Rhino variants) it still far exceeds what you thought! http://community.battlefront.com/topic/93376-cmbo-cmbn-equipment-comparrison-chart/page-6 I hope the hell you appreciate it, LOL...it only took me 9 hours! Mord.
  11. CMBO had a total game count of 125 armor/vehicles for the period covering June 44-May 45 CMBO has a total count of 97 armor/vehicles for June 44-Sept 44 CMBN has a total count of 185 armor/vehicles for June 44-May 45 CMBN includes 90 armor/vehicles that were not in CMBO for the time span or at all. CMBN is missing 8 vehicles that were in CMBO. You can figure out the AT guns and Mortars.... NOTE: I included Rhino variants in the final tally but left them out of the total New Vehicle count. Even if you exclude them completely it is still an impressive total. Mord.

  19. Yep. Even made a mod for it... http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=2283 All the CMX2 games allow you to create scenarios that can include Blue Vs Red, Blue Vs Blue, Red Vs Red, Blue and Red vs Red etc. Mord.
  20. Yeah, I get what you are saying but the "where they really were" part is what's important. I saw enough to know they were there, what they were, but the spots disappeared quickly and it didn't result in every guy in the immediate vicinity auto targeting them when they were seen, which is what would've happened with Borg spotting. That's what I was trying to say, anyway. I didn't mean it to come off as didn't see them once or at all. Actually the particular battle I am thinking of DC kept moving them back and forth so it really screwed with the spotting. He couldn't have done it CMBO 'cause they would've been pounded. Mord.
  21. And that was the part I edited out of my first post. If one thinks about it, using CMBN as a gauge, it's actually kind of bogus when players make this argument. We have depth as well as breadth, quality and quantity, more so than in CMBO. Yeah, CMBN doesn't cover June 44 to May 45, but what it does cover, June 44 to Sept 44, has more units/vehicles (minus the French), more terrain types, and even country specific buildings, than CMBO had for the same time span. And once The Bulge title is completed the full CMBO experience will have been replicated, bigger and better. And that's how I feel about RT. Yeah, okay we don't get everything at once, but so what, if we get everything eventually, and you guys make money, it's the same result (but better 'cause you are still in business). Saying RT doesn't have this or that isn't being completely honest (or is ignorant) if anybody has been paying attention to what BFC has been up to since 2011 because it's not done. And until things change, that's how I am viewing it. Mord.

  24. Oh, they are great games (CM:A, CMSF) no doubt, just I have been playing that engine version since 2007 and after waiting and struggling through the growing pains of CMX2 it's hard to play what is basically .5 of the engine. As great as CMSF is/was (and I have a huge soft spot for it in my heart) CMBN is where I think (arguably) the engine finally got to a true 1.0 version. I can easily see where newer guys could fall in love with either title, though. CM:A is modern but not too modern, covering something rarely ever covered and is a bridge between the 80's and CMSF, which is a nice snap shot of the technology of the mid 01s and topical (A-Stan, Iraq). There's still years of game play left in them if you are just starting out. But some people may not be able to jump backwards from what we have now to what we had then. They could end up pining away for missing features. Personal choice of course but at this point, for me, the advances are too great. So, I figured I'd pass that along. Glad to hear you are having fun with them, burroughs. In the end THAT'S the name of the game! Mord.
  25. It was such an ingenious post I had to write it twice...but decided to edit it...'cause true genius knows when less is more. Mord.
