No they were yanked because they didnt work as intended. I cant remember them shooting off a round in the beta build they were in. Kind of silly to have them if they dont shoot. They may get in someday but thats up to Steve and Charles.

Come on guys, BFC has never stated that 1.05 is gonna be the last patch. They are already working on it and have been since 1.04 was released. If 1.05 doesnt fix most of it I would bet 1.06 will come along at some point also. Doing a module doesnt mean they will abandon the core game. Let the testers break it some first.

1.) Dont know but I suspect they will be like expansion packs. 2.) I would imagine CMSF will be required to play them although I am pretty sure you buying another copy of the core game would be good for BFC's retirement fund. 3.) Pretty sure there is, but the timeline for most of it is up to them and I would bet when they drew this game up that a rough release schedule was part of the plan.

First off, its not the forum regulars that I am worried about. There are lurkers and people that happen on this site from everywhere else on the net. I would have thought you had already bought the game Abbott, seeing how its your favorite gaming company. Lets see go to say Blizzard,EA, Operation Flashpoint, the Counter-Strike boards, Lineage II, Baseball Mogul and see if you are still posting negative comments or that people will being seeing them in a few hours. And when did I say any of my closing comments were about you Abbott? And ofcourse feedback is good in any profession. Bile induced and repetive rampages are helpful how again?

I am sorry, didn't I just ask you who your worked for or what games have YOU worked on? I didnt ask for the keys to the house or the wifes bra size did I? You are a wee bit sensitive and why anyone who is so "wary" would use thier name as thier forum name. I dunno, Sixxkiller. You were pretty interested in my personal information... if that wouldn't make a person wary (especially a person who is easy to find via Google) then that person would be an idiot. Also, Sixxkiller, you were pretty damned insulting in your posts. If you really think that what you posted was to the "tune" of what you've just recalled, you need to go back and re-read. Maybe if you start acting like a professional, people won't feel "assaulted". As for the CMSF killer, I dunno. I have a full-time job and a family so even a 100-hour project can take months. I am working on a tactical game at the moment, but I doubt, being the work of one programmer/bad artist/designer (all in one) over a few months, whether it'll be a "CMSF-killer". </font>

So Phillip, you think I dont care about customers? Well actually I do care about the people that are going to read your (and to be fair quite a few others) posts and not buy the game because you cant seem to see the forrest for the trees. Who's interest does that serve? It sure doesnt serve the guy (or gal) who wants to play a game of this setting and will miss out because of the constant gimme gimme gimme attitude some of you exibit. Disappointment is fine as is frustration, but someone who is in the "software" business not truly understanding that every single game or application ever made was #1 buggy, and #2 essentially a beta throught the whole life of said software, sure needs to get into something else. Oh ya and I dont have any vested interest in this game except the same reasons you do. I do not get paid, being a beta tester doesnt get me anymore leeway in posting guidelines than a non-beta tester, nor do I get anything except a license to test. What you are failing to understand is I want this game to be just as good if not better than you do. The only difference between us is I have a wee bit more of an objective take than you do as I realize (and can see) that its a small company that is doing thier job in the fastest manner they can. What you do know is why it was released in the state it was and you still cant forgive them for it. But in these type of threads the only loser will be the guy that reads all the negative uninformed stuff you guys write and will potentially miss out on a product that can be great.

What makes for poor post-release PR is when employees start popping onto forums and attacking -- no, *assaulting* -- customers. The two worst exchanges I've had here have been with you and Rune. If I'd known Sixxkiller here was also a BFC contractee when he attacked me and my professional integrity (and made me pretty wary of him, honestly), I would have brought it to your attention sooner. I think it sucks that employees can mercilessly flame paying customers, then play the "we work here!" card like Rune did. I thought Sixxkiller was just a particularly abusive troll -- now I know why he wasn't worried about flaming me so cruelly. As for our complaints, Sixxkiller... I'm a beta tester too. I just *paid* for the privilege, and I get less access to BFC to boot. So you think there are only imaginary customers who read message boards and decide to buy a game based on players reviews. Hell go on other gaming boards and try to post negative comments about the game and see how fast your post is removed and you are banned. That aside, from the gitgo, BFC has acknowledged CMSF was rushed. Some of you guys know from being around here that BFC does thier best to make good games. They arent trying to pull the wool over your eyes or insult your intelligence. They said we have issues, we are working on them, hold one, when the patch is ready, we will get it to you. What did some of you do? You continued to complain like it was the end of the world, that the 45-70 bucks you spent on the game went the same way as Enron, and that your favorite gaming company is now a sell-out like Mettalica and just looking for the $$$. Well thats poor PR right? Ya the CEO down to the lowly beta testers try to answer questions for you and its bad PR right? Go t any emails from Bill Gates lately on how bad Vista is? And IIRC, Steve has said many many times that CMSF wasnt going to be like CMx1. So expecting CMSF to be CmAK is whos fault again? And you are right, we beta testers do know more than you do about whats coming. We tell you what we can insofar as not violating the trust of BFC and the NDA we signed, then we get told we dont know what the hell we are doing and we cant see bugs on a daily basis. So some of us react. We are fanboys right? And in closing, BFC hasnt changed, the game has. If you dont like the subject matter, thats fine, CMx2WWII will be out eventually, will more than likely have been polished up pretty good from CMSF's growing pains and you'll be back, bargain bin or not. All the imaginary customers? In my opinion what drove people away was an extremely buggy release, poor PR right after release and expectations of what the software would do that it does not do. Plus the fact that Combat Mission has morphed into something that many posters to this Forum didn't expect with CM:SF multitude of missing Combat Mission style features. Of course BFC is doing a good job of catch-up with patches but even that seemed strained for a time. It came close to appearing forced after the comments of "CM:SF is almost done, now we will concentrate on the other module" That has changed to "You bastards we never said we were done patching so knock your ****te off!" The name calling of "whiner" at the folks who expected more from their favorite game company by those supporting the poor release of CM:SF however does seem to be endorsed. I have yet to see someone reporting a bug or posting their disappointment with the poor release of CM:SF call anyone on this Forum an A$$hat but some of the Beta testers do it almost daily. I plan to wait awhile longer, maybe even two more releases before I plunk my money down for CMX2 and that is the exact advice I have given the friends I game with. I guess they might be a few of those who were driven away eh? Of course if I stumble across CM:SF on sale somewhere with the A$$hat Forum coupon intact I may purchase it. Then look out! </font>

I never said you made a personal attack. Nor did I attack your personally. I simply said cut the guy some slack. You come back with some notion that you are a help. He even took offense to your comment. Thats not a help. I dont believe he said you were defending anyone. You would actually fall into the opposite of that scenario.

I came in when you said without a question mark, "Do you even read the forums or use the search." And helping isnt saying that unless his question was, "Hey how do I search for why they released the game in whatever manner blah blah blah?" And I "come in" because you have most likely already driven a few people away with your crybaby attitude in previous threads even after you were told that it was being worked on, wait for the patch. So why be "hostile" to someone who may have a legitimate question and may not know how to "use a search" function like you do. We had to listen to your rants. Why doesnt he get the same respect?

Well you are one to talk about attacking BFC. Should we revisit some of your previous posts? I think a link would be sufficent instead of asking if he reads the forums or uses a search. No point in making this any more hostile to someone who is newer around here. Besides, I dont use the search button and dont have enough time to read everything and I have been here far longer than most. Steve addresses a lot of things in multiple posts because you guys keep asking the same questions.

US Army soldiers dont ride them because in places like Afghanistan and Iraq, tanks are the prime target. They even take small arms fire. Who wants to ride the "bullseye" so to speak? Also its gotta be pretty hot on a tank in 110 degree weather.......you may pray to be shot and end the torture! :eek:

There were no bugs the "beta" testers didnt find. Its just harder to fix bugs when there is only one programmer and 24 hours in a day coupled with need for sleep, family life, throwing darts at Moon's picture, and resupply of Red Bull.

You know wood, you yourself basicly stated the same **** over and over when you were more unhappy with the game and we read it. So if you look at his name and see that most likely he is from Italy and English isn't his first language, maybe cut him a bit of slack for not using the "search" button to find a reference to his question.

A sniper in a good location in CMSF is worth his weight in gold, especially a US one without counter fire or arty for the enemy. I still think buying individual troops yourself is best for the fun factor. I mean the other guy could have bought equally idiotic troop formations and you still won with your canned OOB.

I think there should be BOTH options. A lot more work for Charles, but they will still be making Red Bull in a year or so..........

Paradox isnt the only issue. The bugs would still be there and being fixed. Just you guys wouldnt have seen most of them as BFC may not have released it yet. Then you would just be pissed the game wasnt out yet instead of feeling like you were beta testers...... So in short, some of you guys would be pissed no matter what, Paradox release schedule or not. 1.04 might make some of your gripes dissipate a bit though.

Steve most likely reads most of the posts here. I think in his neck of the woods they give you a few extra hours a day. I think it comes with buying a Weasel. Just think if he got a PzIII, he would get two days for the price of one.

Vista is a flop? Maybe you should go look at the sales figures before you make such statements. Infact its been a better seller than XP was. Convincing BFC to make a game on a platform that hardly exists while making statements that are wrong isnt convincing.
