Excuse the vagueness but I came in half way though a program once. It was something about a range of low hills in the USA. If you see ripples in the sand of a beach the height of the ripple, like a cm on a normal beach, is proportional to the high of the wave, maybe 1.5m.
This set of hills was about 20m crest to foot and had been caused by the same action. Apparently an ancient inland sea had drained out there, leaving the hills.
Must have been a hell of a sight. 3km high wave...
