  1. Right - cheers, think I'll start with...Piccadilly Circus. Thanks all.
  2. Nice foliage - what does it look like at a distance? Still dependant on video card capability or does it degrade to tactical impact?
  3. If you place all the worms in the Earth end to end, one of them would wriggle and spoil it.
  4. You know what'd be cool? Seeing the SF version of that...
  5. I haven't played CM1 since SF came out. I tried to and everything seemed a bit too...neat. I dunno. Once you're used to less abstraction the compromises made in CM1 seem a little too pat. There's abstraction in SF too of course but the whole lot seems a lot messier and more realistic. Have you tried the Brits demo?
  6. British scenario to play PBEM? All opinions, reasons etc gratefully received.
  7. Not going to go all Gerry's way. One of them's a Firefly.
  8. CM:SF won't run properly on that video card. At least not with the latest drivers. I had a ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series that wouldn't run it at all, due to being too new to run 9.3 drivers - which were the last set that weren't phuqued. I've just got an nVideo GTX 260 for the same price. More stable and not nearly as noisy.
  9. Hey! I was in a gallery in NYC and saw that poster. Loved it so went to buy it...wasn't a copy. Didn't get it.
  10. Just think. If the Russian officer had said "No backsies" it could have all been avoided.
  11. The search sucks. That's as constructive as I can be I'm afraid.
  12. Reach for the Sky. Natch. OT but 'Winged Victory' by Victor Yeates is great for WWI.
  13. There's mods about to replace the sound files with blanks. Check the repository.
  14. We should definitely make a club - "The Unkissables".
  15. It was a bit of a let down really. I waited weeks for an ultrasound. When I was there I got talking to the nurse, she said you could see if a liver was fatty because the fat came out lighter on the scan. Even my untrained eye could see it - looked like I'd swallowed a luminous salmon. So when I went back the doctor he just shrugged and said eat the Mediterranean diet - lots of salad, fresh veg and moderate amounts of red wine (no definition of moderate thankfully) - and take care of myself. No cause given. I'm not fat. Don't smoke. Don't drink...too badly. I cycle to work, I've got two young kids so it's not like I'm welded to the couch. I'm not saying this is the cause but it looks like something to keep an eye on.
  16. Personally I don't like any kind of toolbar on a browser. Why have the overhead when you're not doing anything to do with the game? A standalone for me please. Even a one off paid-for client PBEMH.
  17. I think you can hold down a key as it boots. Try "M". Other than that there are mods out there that overwrite the sound files with blank ones. Check the repository.
  18. I'm actually really glad you put this up there d/t. I was diagnosed with None-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease earlier this year and given that I'm not that overweight I'm very interested in the fact that fructose may be a factor in me having it. I'm certainly going to make every effort to cut it out of my diet. Looks hard to do though.
  19. I don’t see how you can say stopping eating is not a valid evolutionary response. People evolved in groups – more for one usually meant less for another. Organisms are actually in a very complex relationship with each other so it’s not as simple as eating everything possible. The position is also shown to be false by everyone who isn’t bursting in McDonalds as soon as they have the money to do so. There are satiety mechanisms – it’s just that certain foods subvert them and, as shown here, certain calories have a greater effect on weight gain. Not to say there isn’t other mechanisms at work. Of course people in the West need to eat less and exercise more. But what this study seems to show is that the diet we’ve set ourselves up with is the exact wrong one for being able to stay at a reasonable weight and to use the natural mechanisms we have as they were meant to be used. I thought it was interesting why he promoted exercise. Not as a balance to calories coming it – he makes the point that one cookie = 20 minutes jogging – but as a stress buster and to stop our muscles becoming insulin resistant.
