Pvt. Ryan
I don't know if this has been answered or not, but will ground units be able to fire at aircraft in CM:BN?

Sequoia
I have serious doubts. I don't see any gun listed that would be able to effectively fire at aircraft.
MikeyD
I think this was answered awhile ago. Unfortunately no. But aircraft's relative difficulties in completing a mission depending on circumstances will be modeled 'under the hood'. In other words, everything except for the flashy on-screen effects and noises.
Pvt. Ryan
I liked in CMx1 when all the vehicles MGs with AA mounts fired at the strafing aircraft. So no quad 50 half track, I guess.
Michael Emrys
So no quad 50 half track, I guess. Not right away. I hope that it will appear eventually, otherwise I will miss the ol' Meatchopper. Michael
Sequoia
Worst line in Saving Private Ryan: "They're killing us with that 20mm!" Well, duh, that's the point isn't it? Is it wild optimism to hope they're keeping AA guns out of the game until they can add on screen effects?
Pvt. Ryan
I'm not sure what you mean by on screen effects, but AA guns worked pretty well in CMx1.
Battlefront.com
Dedicated AA guns are not found in CM:BN for two reasons: 1. Plate already full with far more important vehicles and guns to add. 2. No time to add ground to air interaction this release. The interaction of ground to air in CMx1 was fairly "gamey". We want to do much better with it in CMx2. Steve
Pvt. Ryan
OK, if you insist.
Sequoia
I wonder which of these major features will be their top priority: 1. Flame Throwers. 2. Infantry riding on tanks. 3. On screen Air to Ground interaction. Or is it something else entirely?

ChrisND
And of course the ground fire application of every light AA gun in the whole theatre. Sure it is! It's modeled by there not being any air strikes at all. Ever.

Steve When you say "this release" do you mean this initial release of CM:BN or the entire series of modules that hangs off of CM:BN? If it's never going to be part of the Normandy named game then that's a big disappointment, along with lack of flames and riding on tanks. Am I being too pessimistic here? Lee
I certainly hope the AA guns and AA vehicles will be added in with the various Normandy modules. After all, that's why we have lots of modules with CM2, so we can get all the cool vehicles and guns modeled in the game.
Battlefront.com
Our general philosophy is that no major features are added to a Family (which in this case is CM:BN) after the base game is released EXCEPT when those features are necessary for new units added to Modules. Obviously ground to air behavior and flame spewing are necessary for certain types of vehicles, guns, and/or personal equipment. Therefore, these are features which could very well be added within the CM:BN Family. But we've honestly made no hard and fast decisions about what to include and when, so I can't promise anything specific at this point. Other new features will certainly get into CM:BN as the Modules come out. While our focus on Modules is adding content and not features, sometimes we can't help ourselves and we put new stuff in anyway. Sequoia
That's great news Steve. I'm sure you understand this is THE campaign for many gamers and it may be another ten years till it gets done again. We want it to have all the goodies we can get to go with it. For that reason even though I really came to enjoy CMSF I prefer WWII and I'm glad you didn't do Normandy first as Normandy will now have so many new features. I hope that makes sense
c3k
So, does that mean FLARES are in the base game, or will they be added with the flaretruppen? in a module

Steve Good to know that new features can still be added to the CM:BN family of games. Fingers crossed that you manage to find a way to add the features I mentioned before the family is completed. I would throw in moveable waypoints in that list as well. Regards KR
