finalcut
Are they in,didn't notice them on the TO&E.Really want a couple scouts on the Zundapp KS750 with MG42 mounted on the sidecar. http://www.olive-drab.com/images/id_ks750_700_02.jpg http://www.olive-drab.com/images/id_ks750_700_01.jpg The one pictured here doesn't have the MG42 attached, but many did and were used primarily in the scouting and recon role. The U.S. Army also used many Indian and Harley Davidson models during the ETO campaing, though not as many as the Whermact.Maybe in a future update.

Battlefront.com
Motorcycles are found in many HQs, both German and to some extent American, as messengers. They could be used for recon I suppose, but their primary purpose was to move information around the battlefield. We have to abstract this because motorcycles are too difficult to simulate correctly. Less so with the sidecar types, but still there are problems we don't think are worth spending time on. Steve
Martin Krejcirik
How is a motorcycle different from a car ? It's just a single person vehicle with no armor :-)
Lanzfeld
How is a motorcycle different from a car ? It's just a single person vehicle with no armor :-) When BFC does get around to creating them lets hope they dont make the damage model like the "Super Heavy Duty Pickups" from CMSF! 100 Rounds of 7.62 to the front and it still runs! HA!
Sequoia
The thing about motorcycles is people would use them in ways no driver would ever be crazy enough to do in real life like try to drive them behind the enemy front to scout. Lose them-no big deal, it's just one guy and a really cheap vehicle but you just uncovered the hidden machine gun nest. That said, maybe someday when they do 1941/42 Ostfront or North Africa again we will have a place for German motorcycle recon units when they really were used for recon. Now let's talk about horses!
c3k
And if sidecars don't tip, the motorcycle grogs will let us know!
MikeyD
Motorcycles? I want horse transport. And I want the models animated so their sides expand in and out as the horse breathes.

MikeyD
There's also the well known anecdote about British(?) troops moving off the beach on bicycles when an 88 round takes the man's head off but he kept on pedaling. No matter how much stuff is in the game there's always going to be one more piece of kit left to request. It seems for some people the glasss isn't 7/8ths full, its 1/8th empty

But yet you can do the same thing with jeeps and kubelwagons, which are in the game. No, I think it's because they had negligible tactical combat impact during the time frame. Kind of like horses. I would adore a module that does 39-41 and has horses (for transportation anyways) and motorcycles though.
Elmar Bijlsma
I'd prefer to see horses before motorcycles. They were still one of the Wehrmachts most significant means of schlepping things around. But yeah, neither is truly required on the tactical battlefield where both horse and motorcycle wouldn't be if they could possibly help it.
Dietrich
And if they get killed in action I want Fleischschneidertruppen to turn them into sausages! Or Metzgertruppen if they're from a south German regiment. =P
Battlefront.com
I agree that tactically speaking, horses are more important than motorcycles. And even more important than either are handcarts. But we have to draw the line somewhere or we'd be looking at a 2020 release. Motorcycles would be of marginal tactical value so they weren't even on our lowest priority ToDo List. And as you guys might suspect, neither were horses or hand carts Steve
Michael Emrys
...maybe someday when they do 1941/42 Ostfront or North Africa again... But first, France and the Low Countries 1940! Yes!!! Michael
Battlefront.com
Yes, early German Aufklärung units employed tons of motorcyles. Each Squad had 4 or 6, IIRC, with 2-3 soldiers on each motorcyle. They would then dismount, form up into a fighting unit (probably leaving someone behind for guard duty), and do whatever it is they need to do. This is not something we would have an easy time simulating. So the longer we can put off needing this sort of thing the better.
