Someone please, pretty please tell me what the "Peng Challenge" is.

Recommended Posts

Think Monty Python meets the Young Ones in a seedy balkan bar in a city being put to the sword by fundamentalist Huns........... or look at the Peng thread like choking a rattlesnake to death with you d**k, you can do it but will you really enjoy yourself?

It is a place where truely "gifted" people can present themselves to their peers without annoying the rest of us normal folk. By order of a Consent Decree, this high browed humor thread is to be limited to one thread at a time. Politely it is called "The Pool", and when its members get out of The Pool they have to be escorted, like the bad childeren that they are, back into it. When they have filled a thread to its capacity (roughly 13 pages), we close it up and allow another thread to be opened. This does two things... a) prevents them from crashing the Forum and causing hundreds of posts to be lost (not that THAT has ever happened before!) and B) it apparently continues to keep them from bothering the rest of us, so if it makes them happy... the less people we have to ban the better.

Now... my advice... if you have soiled your eyes by actually looking at the posts in The Pool (if you can call them posts), and still don't get it after reading the FAQ, then steer clear of it in the future. It certainly isn't for everybody. And I thank whatever Gods their might be for that too.

Oh, and I am not afraid to use:

:D

You see...the problem is...that FAQ is _funny_. Funny enough to lead newbies into thinking the current Peng threads are funny as well. But they're not....not even close. They're bitter, angry, cryptic, senseless places so awful that they may even turn newcomers off the game entirely should a visitor happen to venture in there on a first visit to our site,

Battlefront, why not create a password protected hidden enclave for these misfits where they can frolic away without _any_ contact with the outside world whatsoever??? Prestige for them, more sales for you, peace and quiet for the rest of us. It's a win/win.

I just wanted to say that if there were an Oasis in the paddock, ducks would want to swim in it and that would be mostly unbearable.

And I suppose one would have to suffer the odd mirage... and there are enough vapid disappointments without having to watch a scantily-clad Nobbit floating before me snout... that would be unbearable too...

... and I don't suppose yer really are an Oasis... so I suppose the point about ducks is pointless. Pathetic... I shouldn't have made the effort, its hurting.

Yes, by all means. Send them to Canada, Quebec would be punishment enough.

By George, I think he's got it! We tried the "always funny, all the time" thing for a while, but then people started thinking it was just a place to post their favorite Python lines, over and over and over...

Kinda like that table next to you at Denny's at 3AM with the four guys and one gal taking up a big table for the last four hours drinking $3.00 worth of coffee while they play Magic: The Gathering and you're looking at them and thinking "aren't they a little old to still be in college and that chick could probably be cute if she'd wash her hair more often and I swear that one guy with the twig (an honest to gods twig) in his hair and the Army Surplus jacket was the cabbie that drove me to the airport last week and Oh Man I have to stop coming to Denny's late at night."

Anyway, that got old so we switched over from "somewhat angry, some of the time" to "always angry, all of the time". Except for Joe. He just mostly drools. Mostly.

Hmm. So should I remove the humour from the FAQ or just put a warning on the Peng Thread section saying "If you have a sense of humour, it will be surgically removed by your very entry into the pit of inane depravity that is the Peng Threads". I'm just worried that would encourage people. You know the type, the ones that stand and watch the car accidents.

That's not entirely true, though. Their sense of humor (such as it may be) won't automatically be removed by entering the MBT (Standing like a beacon in the night). Rather, we'll remove it FOR them. With pointy sticks, or in some cases, explosives.

Uh, Steve, there has been an unusually rancid stench coming from the General Forum lately. I'm afraid there might be a leak. We've also been getting the smell of molten TNT (which isn't really a bad thing). Have you done a bed check lately?

If you've ever read Lovecraft, you'll know there are questions that shouldn't be asked, and answers that never should be heard.

"As I looked down the corridor, my eyes refused to focus, the dimensions of the corridor where somehow wong, somehow impossible. A mere glance left my mind reeling as a flood of images entered it, displaced all that I had known in my normal life. I clung to the doorknob as if my grip could hold me here . . ."

Maybe he thought the doorknob was his wong?
