Mailman came and went, absolutely nothing. This is ridiculous, it was in Vermont like what? A week and a half ago!

Does anyone know what the standard procedure would be - will it be the mailman or the truck?

I used to work for Canada Post, in marketing.

You will not receive Combat Mission to your door. Your mailman - er, ahem "Postal Carrier - will deliver a card to your door telling you to come pick up your package at the nearest postal outlet.

You'll need to bring the card, some ID, and your wallet with you. Canada Post will collect the taxes on behalf of the government, plus a $5 fee for doing so.

It's the stops along the way that slow down a package from the US.

Canada Post can have a package from Victoria to Fredricton in three days.

But Combat Mission first needs to come to Canada Post's hands from the USPS. The USPS won't fly (yes - most mail from the US comes via air) a plane to Canada until there's enough mail to justify it. So, Combat Mission may be waiting on a plane until the plane is full of mail.

Then Canada Customs & Revenue needs to approve all the packages that come into Canada. No fruits, vegetables or plants. No guns. No drugs. On and on ... They at least read the maifest for every package. Sometimes they open them for inspection.

Then CCR must determine what the package is worth, so they can figure out how much in taxes to charge you.

Then it gets handed to Canada Post. Once they have it, they'll have that card in your mailbox within two days. One day, if you live in a major city.

Well, postman arrived and left again without delivering the expected package. mad.gif

BTW, I believe that the postman will actually bring the package to the door. If nobody is in to receive it, or if you cannot pay for the gst/pst and handling charge, then a card is left directing you to the nearest post office where the package can be picked up.

Well I hope they release CM2 in the winter. At least we can then opt for dog sled delivery which is sure to be faster than airmail.

Who would have thought that folks in Europe would be getting theirs first

Toronto

Nothing today

If I don't have it by this weekend

I will REALLY be....

A) Bummed

B) Pissed off

C) Suicidal

D) Seriously considering downloading it from some "other" internet source (That may sound like a threat but it really is not as there is no known downloadble version for a Mac available, (I'm on a MAC), and yes I've been checking, because I can't wait any longer)

So, its my roomates birthday on Friday....and he is getting all sorts of parcels in the mail....and theres all these parcel pick up cards in the mailbox...but do you think one was for me.....nope. I thought that was rather insensitive of him to have his birthday around the time when I'm expecting CM.

Well I'm not going to delude myself in any false hopes that my copy went out even in the middle of all of the shipments, nope, probbably went out the last day, in which case that means it MIGHT be here by the weekend, provided all those government employees handling my game don't get too caught up sipping coffee.

I sincerely hope that when CM2 ships options like Fed-Ex are available so I can at least get my game before I get my credit card bill.

None here, but I guess thats what I get for not ordering yet.

Fellow Canadians, be sure to post a review for ME when you do get it. I will eventually buy it, but I would like to know if the Canadian Regiments are represented well in this game.

Still no joy in Ottawa either yet. I ordered in October, but I've experienced the pain of getting stuff from the states before. It's like we're being penalized by Canada Post (which we are!). That Gold demo is sure getting a run for the money - considering it was free!

I don't think the delay is being caused by Canada Post. What we're experiencing is the delay of getting packages across the border.

I saw what looked like a parcel card in the mailbox today and I actually got butterflies in my stomach just like I was 7 years old at Christmas.

It turned out to be some propaganda from the Canadian Alliance Party. Boy what a downer that was. :-(

I might vote for Uncle Jean next time for that :)

The packages are probably under a large stack of porno magazines and films currently being closely inspected by customs officers... wink.gif
