1. Pillar, what did the folks at Customs tell you when you called them to have your package inspected? Were they able to tell you if it would be released today or not? Were you able to keep your cool?
2.
quote:
Originally posted by KingOPork: Sure it would be bad to have to wait. but these people should also understand that it's out of their hands, and venting on the board gets them no where either. but i may be wrong? Is there anything BTS can do? -KOP

KOP, There may be nothing they can DO now, but there may be some things that BTS can confirm. Take this example from Canada Customs: "...we consider the person sending the mail to be the exporter. Exporters have to complete a written declaration and attach it to the mail item they are sending to Canada." Maybe the folks at the distribution didn't know that or some were missed. I doubt it; I agree with most everybody else that the holdup is in Customs. But it would calm our restless souls up here a bit if we could get the "good word" from Steve that all the paperwork was filled out. Then we could, as Homer J. Simpson put it so eloquently "get back to killing our brains with beer!"
3. Excerpt from the Customs document on importing: "...The Customs Act gives us the authority to open any mail that weighs more than 30 grams. Before we can open mail that weighs 30 grams or less, we need permission from you, or from the exporter. To get your permission, we send you a letter telling you that we are holding your item and asking that you allow us to open it for examination." I sure hope that manual is a heavy sucker!
4. I saw what looked like a parcel card in the mailbox today and I actually got butterflies in my stomach just like I was 7 years old at Christmas. It turned out to be some propaganda from the Canadian Alliance Party. Boy what a downer that was. :-( I might vote for Uncle Jean next time for that
5. It cost me 78.78 Canadian (billed on 15 Jun). For the GST, in my past experience, if the parcel is being delivered by Canada Post customs will put a bill on the parcel and they expect you to send them a cheque to cover it. If the parcel is being delivered by UPS then UPS adds an administrative fee on top of the GST and generally expects payment at the door.
6. I only pre-ordered a week ago, but I live close to the NY/Ont border so maybe that will help?????? Here's hoping!
