Armchair General praises Final Blitzkrieg

As for my sarcasm, I didn't start like that... I started trying to be constructive minus any attitude, but I was met with plenty. So I've learned to expect the backlash, if that goes away I'd be first in line to say good riddance.

I call B*** S*** on that. Your skin is way to thin and you jumped on the sarcasm pretty fast. You are not one of the people who keeps the discussion on track. And before anyone else points it out I let my sarcasm out way to fast too. The difference is I don't claim not to :D

No, not really if you got back through all my posts I was pretty much in the middle of the road and usually just trying to help out... but whatever... I wanted to add: funding... maybe give fig/kickstarter a look. A lot of niche games excel with crowd based funding.

A five step plan to "help out" BFC......

1. Buy a game that you like and let Steve and the boys in band run their own company the way that they see fit. And don't rubbish Armchair General, Ithikial etc.

2. See No.1

3. See No.2

4. See No.3

5. See No.4

So basically provide no alternate view point to anything BFC is doing?

No thanks!

I trust them enough to see what we have to say and make a decision based on it.

I've done all the spending, and I've offered up my ideas/opinions, helped in the tech support forums (in the past I've done more than that)... and yeah at this point not much more I can really do... so we'll just have to see how the future of BF and CM play out, can't say I didn't try...

Sgt.Squarehead,

That pic of your model kit collection was truly gobsmacking and momentarily stopped my breathing, too. I thought, though, the neared kit boxes were for 1:35, leading me to wonder: How big is your house? I've been in hobby shops which didn't have even a tenth of the quantity in stock you have. Please consider making an OP on the GDF (which desperately needs traffic) and showing us some of your work. Way back in the early 1970s I was an IPMS member and went to an IPMS convention. Knew I was completely out of my league when I saw a 1:72 scale Panther a guy had built a complete interior for, including the entire turret interior and turret basket assembly. In many ways, I thought the Karl Gustav to the same scale was trivial by comparison because most of the components were so large. The builder had also lit the magazine!

Sgt.Squarehead and Michael Emrys,

Nice pics and othe info!

AstroCat,

Believe your heart is in the right place, but BFC's tiny and one slip could spell doom. CMSF was forced into release before it was ready (very nearly leading to armed revolt by the CM faithful, with a fair number leaving outright), and there was also the most unsatisfactory foray into brick and mortar stores, as well as licensing. Would more staff help? Absolutely. But there's a lot more to it than merely hiring someone, for a lot of other infrastructure has to be there, together with the means to pay for all that over the long haul. For example, we have no idea how much space BFC has in its offices. Finding out anything about the actual physical facilities makes locating the VP's "undisclosed location" during a crisis almost seem doable. Steve is far better at keeping secrets than some black project security officers are, and I see no sign this will change soon, if ever. BFC pays attention to what its customers say, but that doesn't mean that input (however vociferously expressed) will result in any specific action by BFC, particularly, as some have done, if that input's in the form of demands.

Thank you for the contributions you make to the larger effort to keep growing the CM community and providing assistance to the newly arrived or those with various technical problems. One thing I never understood was why BFC didn't continue with CM: Touch. One of my nephews, who's an adult, got into it and loved it, in part because he loves WW II and could play the game on his phone. As we all know, like the CM Demos, CM:Touch is a "gateway drug" to CM, an addiction for which there is no Twelve-Step Programâ„¢. (Cackles maniacally).

Again with the straw man arguments you're making! Alternate viewpoints on a broad range of subjects abound on these fora. I don't know why some people are blind to that fact. All they seem to notice is that their particular hobbyhorse is not inspiring boundless enthusiasm, and they are so attached to same that to them that is a great tragedy and injustice that is too much to bear.

Maybe I used a bit too much hyperbole by saying "anything", but the point still stands in relation to what we've been talking about.

I see no straw man here because it was still on topic ;)

This is my WWII 1/72 kit collection (as it looked a couple of years back, there's more now):

Many of the boxes have two or more kits in them.....I don't sell them, those are all for me. :D

You know, man, if you die before you get around to building all those, it is going to be a particularly cruel joke by the gods of irony! Still, you must experience an almost pornographic thrill every time you walk in that room and start thinking about the hour upon hour of pleasure just locked up in all those boxes.

:D

Ever considered that not everyone has flickering shadows and swirling pyschedelic patterns showing up in there game?

I mean I'm not going to say CM has great graphics and honestly Steve probably wouldn't either, but they do the job just fine in my opinion especially with mods. It looks like you should log a ticket about those graphical problems.

I wouldn't say the graphics are great but they're not bad, but then I'm using a 2Gb NVidia on a 40" screen. If people want dazzling graphics they should go play World of Tanks. Sometimes the shadows and rendering can be a bit off but again what the game is and does outweighs those minor issues.

Apart from the very first one, I used to buy my Airfix kits from the local sub post office. Also, my sweets, Bazooka Joe bubble gum, penny chews etc etc. on a Saturday morning, making sure that I was home in time for Grandstand.

You just described my childhood Saturdays perfectly...

You guys had some pretty amazing (from the perspective of a US guy) and to me incredible places from which you bought models and Matchbox vehicles. Our post offices were very, well, postal. I believe there were some Post Office related toys for sale at Christmas time at some point, but that was it. Nor can I imagine buying a model from a place where I got a newspaper or a magazine. One for the "I never knew that!" file. Here in the States, it was hobby shops (had one in my home before we moved, in fact) primarily, with some available in drugstores, maybe Woolworth's or similar. When I was in high school, before we left South Carolina, we used to go to little towns in the backwoods in a sometimes successful search for rare models from the '50s and 60's. Old Revell, Hawk, Lindbergh, Strombecker, etc. In the case of the last, we had a bunch of Strombecker T-2 Buckeyes, and the guy offered a pile of the previously unknown to us Army Green WW II history books, with all the maps still in them. What a fabulous swap that was!  Like to lost my mind reading the Ordance book.
