Photo from a new angle may shed some light on how the AFU took down the bridge:

    Sorry, sorry. Couldn't help myself...

And Professor O'Brien brings the rail map....

    Extreme magnification, Mr. Sulu
Next phase:  Operation "WAR OF THE RAILS: FALL 2022 EDITION" ?
    (LLF preens modestly)

So the UA doesn't even need to storm the Azov Highlands to effectively split the Russian armies!

Yes, all coorect. Our soldier very angry on Russian and swears it in each word (English translation doesn't reflect all spectre of Russian filthy language 😀 ), but anyway he says "we are not like you" and tried to free his leg.

I think that was rather a reference to H.P. Lovecraft and this guy: https://lovecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Yog-Sothoth
Since the center of gravity of the whole gun assembly is probably directly over the wheels, there is not much force going into the barrel. Mostly from the drag from the wheels, which is in line with the barrel. That is a direction a pipe can handle well.
Also, not much of a momentum for the same reason. The only input here is drag difference from the wheels. But the length of the lever for this is in proportion to the length of the gun very small, so small momentum.
It may be a bit reckless to pull a gun by the barrel, but it is actually quite clever. I can't imagine the ridicule the engineer that first thought of it had to go through.

Let's face it - our cathedrals are nicer than anybody else's.  On a less light note ... it illustrates the power of messaging and how it sticks in the psyche if promoted often enough.

    LOL.
Britain must be behind the rumour that Britain is behind everything.
More seriously why do certain sources keep alleging such things?  The fact that Boris strolled with considerable swagger through the streets of Kyiv early in the conflict does not mean Britain is running the show 😀.

Let's imagine for a second that video games were a thing in 1935, all other things remained equal in the world, technologically and politically. What would a CM-like game covering a hypothetic World War II look like:
    - Tanks would have multiple turrets and guns
    - Infantry platoons would be like those of the Italian Army
    - Cavalry would be a thing
    - It would have an amazing model for fortifications
    - Uniforms would come in bright colors
    - Etc.

Doesn't that just kinda mean they might be right? Considering the Iraq war was probably a mistake and in hindsight completely based on lies.

There's some irony in "LIBERAL SITE, ENTER AT OWN RISK" when its the con sites that are pushing the Kremlin propaganda.

Similar tactic used Russians during Phase 1.
Probing in wide front with platoon-sized forces, when free sapce was found - signal for gathering to aother groups and calling the column of main forces behind. This even more similar to Mongols advance tactic in 13 cetnury.

    More evidence of systemic collapse:
Thousands of Russian Soldiers Call the Ukraine surrender hotline (eutimes.net)
    "
“The hotline has received a lot of calls from Russians who were called up recently, and even from some who have not even been called up yet.
“They’re calling and asking ‘What should I do if I get called up? What do I have to do, what’s the right way to surrender?’”
    "
And, as many here have been calling for, this is how Ukraine says it will treat surrendered Russians:
“Among other things, we are talking about three meals a day, medical care, and the opportunity to contact relatives.”

I do wish these videos would show the actual engagement, without edits.  These edited videos, which skip from the early fight to the aftermath, without the interesting bit in-between are frustrating.

T.E. Lawrence, Orde Wingate, Popski, and all the other oddballs are giving UA a cheer from Valhalla!
And Guderian nods (although Schneller Heinz still has some time to serve in Hell).

Sorry to be so bloodthirsty, but the VDV units north of the Dnepr need to be aggressively cut off and destroyed -- as in KIA or prisoners -- not allowed to escape, even weaponless, across the river.
Is mining the Dnipr -- letting a steady stream of magnetic mines drift down -- fair play?
The paras will likely sell their lives dearly, like cornered animals, but it is best that they do not furnish veteran cadre for new formations, whether for purposes of a future war, or for internal repression on behalf of the next set of thugs who take control in Moscow.

    @Homo_Ferricus

He had also insisted on the fact that the HIMARS and their use against the ammo dumps would be absolutely useless, that it was not a gamechanger and that it was a waste. Since then, although the Russian artillery is still present, their infinite amount of ammunition seems to have eroded and is no longer really capable of stopping the Russian attacks. Conversely, this is what our forum has clearly demonstrated. Since that and other Western shipments, the Ukrainians have taken over. So ultimately, isn't it a gamechanger? (although as in all things, everything is more complex and the HIMARS alone have not reversed the situation but in my opinion have greatly contributed).
Regarding this channel, there are good and less good. The good thing is that he can help us see things differently because he thinks of things that I would not necessarily have thought of on the economic level, for example. I am more informed about military things than economics and he brings me subjects that I had not noticed with my narrow-mindedness based only on military news. His remarks should therefore not be taken as facts but as subjects for further reflection. As MonkeyKing says, he is super pessimistic with the West and conversely rather over optimistic for the Russians. He said that "the Russians would always have enormous amounts of artillery ammunition, an infinite supply of tanks (12,000 tanks etc, without taking into account that a good part are no longer in good condition or old models) and that their economy is doing wonderfully while Ukraine is at the bottom of the abyss and Europe is on the verge of destruction". While the latest information seems to indicate that Russians suffer much more economically than we think.
In my humble opinion, this chain remains interesting to help us get out of our echo chamber but it remains necessary as in all things to cross sources. And keep in mind he says a certain amount of BS and don't take it all for the truth. A channel like Reporting From Ukraine or the one made by a pilot whose name I can't remember are good complements, although the former is very biased on the Ukrainian side. They have the advantage of being short and of completing the War in Ukraine channel well if you have little time to follow the news and multiply your sources.
Another solution, although there is not always everything, is to consult the site https://liveuamap.com/ which gives good information (multiplications of sources;))
    Sorry for the big block

My experiences in the Canadian military in winter exercises demonstrated that one can survive in quite harsh conditions but ALL of the below are essential to due so:
    1.  High quality and well fitted personal clothing and footwear.  The Canadian military winter gear is very good.   I did have occasion while working with US forces and the UK forces to try their winter gear at the time I was in (mid 70s to mid 90s) and at that time the American and UK winter gear was crap.  Don't know about today's military gear.
    2.  Knowledge - this is critical.  You have to know how to fight in winter conditions. How to fit and wear clothes in layers.  Take a layer of clothes off when you start to get sweaty.  How to build shelters.  How to move in the cold.  How to stay warm and DRY while lying prone in snow or on ice for periods of time while on the attack or defence.  Etc.,   And you learn by doing.  Theorycrafting how you get by in the cold just doesn't work.  You learn and modify and improvise your personal cold protection strategies by living and working in the cold.
    3.  Mindset - if you think you are going to freeze your arse, you will freeze your arse.   Keeping a positive and stubborn mindset to see you through helps a lot.   Not easy to do at -40C but having all of the above and a positive mindset will see one through.
I have been on winter exercises like Brimfrost 85 were I live in the wilds of the Camp Wainwright ranges in Alaska for 30 days in January.   I have been on several exercises of several weeks duration with the Canadian Rangers in the very far north of Canada in Jan / Feb where I can recall on one exercise in particular, wind chills of -80C.  Without tents.  Each night was burrow into packed snow drifts with 4-5 other people each or we constructed igloos.   And it wasn't that bad a time, as long as you had the three points I outlined above in spades.
The russians do not have point 1 above, point 2 is most likely low or none existent and given the morale and other motivations of Russian forces, they lack point 3.   The basterds are going to have a very, very, miserable existence on the front lines once the cold hit in ernest.  A dare say, if a cold winter, the weather will be more of an enemy than the Ukrainian forces.
