there is an expression in French that says:
you should never say fountain i wouldn't drink your water.
A few weeks ago, encouraged by the new AI tuning, I bought the final Blitzkrieg, which is really great
On the other hand, not very interested in modern conflicts, I decided to skip SF2 by settling for my old basic SF1
    Well I lied !!!!
For this price it would be a shame to do without

Of that I have no doubt. I realize I'm often behaving like a pain in the back side, but for me you and all the others working on Fire and Rubble are nothing short of artists.

I play all titles, but CMBS is my favorite and the one I play most often in my spare time.
of course, modern is not everyone's cup of tea, but yes, there is a terror and fun factor in modern not present in WW2 titles.
The big reason I enjoy it though is because it seems the title most well suited to MP play. Russian and Ukrainian forces are similar in terms of organization, equipment and capabilities and make excellent opponents in PBEM matches.

It's patched up. And, imo, it's very fun.

There is probably a learning curve, as I had one coming from modern (CMSF) to WW2 (CMBN), I guess around 2012 or so.
Modern is much more lethal. Better optics, shorter call in times, more accurate weapons with more penetration and bigger booms. I guess if you manage to do the learning curve of CMBS, dementia will be fought of for another 10 years. 😉

    Greeting folks!
You ever get side tracked.  I mean like take the off ramp, and there is no over/under pass simply to get back on.
Well, I have been to Rome and got the Punic wars done in 2, hustled some 9-Ball, been 200M down trying to evade DDs, nuke subs looking for that 50Hz harmonic at 40nmi, laid some rails, and currently in 1861 fighting the opening battles of the ACW ...
But it is almost Christmas, and I was thinking to add to my collection.  Some people believe it is exercise and eating a healthy diet.  But the secret to a long life is having more titles in your collection than you can get to.  You won't die before you played them all.  This is why it is especially important to have games with random campaigns and scenario generators.
Well, I have all the CMx2 titles, but CMBS?
For you guys who know every WWII weapon from single shot crafted rifles to rapidly produced stamped steel MPs, what do you think of CMBS?  Is it a big learning curve?  Is the fun factor there?
It looks like CMBN is the most loved title and CMBS is not so active.  (from the Scenario Depot)
Is CMBS patched up to the 4.02 engine as the other games except for CMRT (I think waiting for Rubble)?
    Does Battlefront do Christmas sales?
Would this make a good self gift and hold off dementia for another 5 years?
God bless and may you all be safe wherever that is.
    Thank you!

Having never fired any of m, that's what I'd think. The Pz Faust 3-IT has some laser range finder system IIRC, but I doubt it will be much more complex than pressing a button to gauge the range first and press the trigger to fire after that sequence has been completed.

Yup. ATGMs are essentially one shot weapons, but if that one shot trades efficiently with a Bradley, you're up significantly.
I typically try to fire one shot then Fast move to relocate. ATGMs are best used in at least pairs, and dispersed - this creates a C2 problem to solve, but it means that you can more easily score flank shots (more important for Abrams), and can't have both assets suppressed at the same time.
When relocating it's important to pop back up in a different position (i.e., far from the contact marker you'd be leaving behind as you break line of sight). This means when placing ATGMs it's important to think of primary and secondary positions for them, with a covered route in between. Tertiary positions are usually not needed, since if you had a chance to use them, you're probably winning already.
The BMP smoke won't block thermals, so it's no good versus Bradley's or Javelins. It will help in the infantry fight, since anything that cuts down the incoming small arms is worthwhile - in the final stages (of the optimistic scenario presented), most of the actual infantry fights will be won by the afvs - the infantry are there to spot and maybe clean up cowering targets.

Exactly, one can play all the CMSF1 campaigns and scenarios in CMSF2.   You do have to be aware that they were not designed for the new CMSF2 features.  But, I have not noticed any issues and the CMSF1 ones I have tried all play very well in CMSF2.

    Yes.
You can always play scenarios or campaigns created under an earlier version or patch, but not vice versa.

Red vs Red and Blue vs Blue are both fine in CMSF multiplayer - it's just the mixed game which I'm suspicious of. In general I think I prefer Red vs Red, but that's mostly because the more advanced stuff pushes it more towards one shot kills and heavy punishment for mistakes/random surprises.

To be entirely clear, I do think it's possible to win, but you have to do all the work. You can also sometimes do everything right and still lose. In the broader sense this is true for anything "lower tier" in a competitive game.

All CMSF1 scenarios and campaigns should work in CMSF2.  You just cannot continue a CMSF1 saved game using CMSF2 (unfortunately).  Some designers are slowly making updates to their CMSF1 work.

I remember somebody reported that there might be core force issues with the dynamic campaign version in CMSF2 so I chose the linear version but can´t confirm wether this issues are indeed present or not.

Very good advice.  "The Road to Dinas" and "Zawiya Uprisng" are two xnt campaigns that help teach one how to handle Red forces - what their capabilities and weaknesses are.
