I have no problem being the bogeyman. English is not my native language and I am not particularly good at either English or French (both learned at school).
I'm happy when people understand what I want.
But if you have serious problems with my English, please open a ticket on Google.
It's unfortunate that no one addressed the content.*

Yeah, I have had occasion where my method did not work as expected too. I usually figure I messed up but now you are making me want to test it 🙂

In CMBN, CMRT, CMFB, CMRI, bocage (high and low) blocks the movement of everything except armour equipped with bocage cutters.  IMO this is not entirely historical since infantry of both sides in Normandy managed to force themselves through the bocage at various points when gaps did not exist. Historical bocage varies in thickness, height and density anywhere from scrubby to double rows back to back.
In game, there are two other ways to get through the bocage. Both require blasting, the first with satchel charges and the second by long bombardments with direct fire HE against a single point.
It is up to the map or scenario designer to add sufficient breaks in the bocage to create a reasonably playable scenario.

My understanding is that the low and high bocage blocks movement in CMBN. CMRT and CMFB both have low bocage (but not high) except it does not block armour. Having said that if you want your armour to cross it you need to place a order way point just on one side and the next one just on the other. Otherwise the pathing system might decide to go around or through a gap some distance away.
When i am trying to get vehicles to cross any obstacle I always place a way point around 5m away from the obstacle and another way point 5m or so on the other side. That tells the TacAI "I want you to drive through / over this". I do this for streams, hedges, walls, bocage etc. So, also for jeeps, trucks etc. not just tanks.

As mentioned elsewhere, having never played a battle in any modern title, I accepted a challenge from our good friend @Ultradave to play 'Czechmate' with me as Soviets.  To encourage me (😂) he said this was pretty much what he trained for in RL.  Great way to start, right?
It's a very nice map and I'm starting to enjoy it but having initially lost several vehicles to TOWs from invisible launchers I'm being a bit more cautious and beginning to get spots on some of his units.  Not knowing much about modern weapons is a concern, as is my lack of long range AT assets at the current stage of the game - I have (sorry had) 4 T62s (now 3) but nothing else with range. That will change when the main force arrives.  None if this will come as a surprise to Dave so I'm not giving away much intel.
Overall, I think if I view the exercise as a lesson from the master I will hopefully not be too disappointed when I lose...

As one of those people, I have our game plus another 4 going (ours FI, 2 FBs, 1 BN and 1 CW).  As a 'modern virgin' the last is rather scary.  I normally have one or two RTs going but not at the moment.

Just wanted to see everyone's PBEM CM experience level?  Are you a regular, vet, elite??  I'm just curious how much everyone else does.
Currently I have 5 PBEMs going against three different people.  Theaters in play right now are 2 RT, 1 BN, 1 FB and 1 FI.
Who are the warriors out there?

I found an old template of some US Uniforms and clean it up some, it Mods all US Uniforms except the tanker Uniform. So, it's an alternative to some of the other mods.

I like it so much that I'm playing the same battle (Pershing versus Tiger) as a PBEM against a second opponent (it's okay he knows and he suggested it).  But of course that's a fictional battle, perhaps more balanced than some of the historical ones.  And that might be my only reservation about Final Blitzkrieg, a lot of what it does (and could) cover is not likely to be well-balanced as the Germans were in a bad way by then.
As for the list, it is perhaps the result of a search on Wiki?  I don't really have any issues with that, and there are some 'new' things there that could be done in CM.

Like they say, one exploding AFV, shame on you. Three burning AFVs shame on me.
Sometimes, recon by death is how the job gets done. But, have someone on overwatch. Then pull up to the previous terrain feature and kick some boots out* to go have a look.
Recon takes time, but it's usually well worth it.

Well, maybe I see part of your problem here. Or maybe a few problems.
    1. It sounds from your posts like you don't have a lot of CM experience. Both scenarios you are "complaining" about are from BP1, all of which were designed by @George MC, who is known for creating challenging and difficult scenarios, with excellent maps, and usually with ugly surprises somewhere when and where you least expect (maybe that's just me, but he's a devil, and I mean that with the utmost liking and respect) 🙂  They are great, however, they are not the best to cut your teeth on. That one in particular requires a lot of movement to get to a jumping off point for attack, and yes, it can be a bit tedious, and it's a very poor candidate for a real-time scenario. It's not by any means unplayable, or that would have come out in play testing. The guys who play tested that one are knowledgeable CM players. I'd recommend sorting scenarios by size when selecting one and working on some of the smaller ones first. Smaller does not equal trivial. There are good tactical challenges in them all. Same goes for "Cat and Mouse". It doesn't have that many units but reading the briefing will tell you it's a scenario that requires some finesse, and not a shootout. It's a poor one for RTS IMO because you need to literally play cat and mouse, and do a lot of sneaking around. The map is very large, so things can be happening "over there" while you are attending something and the first you'll know of it is a loud boom and smoke.
    2. Someone else suggested @Bil Hardenberger's tactical series. These are excellent, small scale, so they are easy to control.  They are here:
    https://battledrill.blogspot.com
    3. If you like that BP, then start with the 3 PzGr lessons. They are manageable size. Lesson 1 is even a pretty good candidate for RTS, I think. Small number of units. I just wouldn't plot too far ahead, so that they pause and give *you* a chance to catch up.
    4. Speaking of which, if you really like RTS, then don't plot too far ahead. Plot relatively short moves, not all the way to an objective (that's just death waiting anyway - you have no idea what will happen and it will happen so fast you can't react). The units will pause, you can hit ESC and pause and issue some more orders. Make it manageable on yourself.
    5. There isn't "Nothing you can do about it"  You can pause, change orders, the units themselves will react on the spot to, say, taking fire from the flank. The will shoot back, go to ground, etc, giving you a chance to pause, issue new orders, and then continue. This isn't CoD where you can't ever stop. Even if you don't pause, you can select a unit, cancel its order (just backspace), and then quickly give it a new order. Yeah, takes practice, so again, start small, work your way to more complex.
Just seems like you are diving into more than you are ready for, from your posts. Good luck.

Late reply but as we were always told "it depends on the situation".  If you are operating in very closed terrain, you may have no choice but to dismount and make your way through the woods, clear whatever is on the other side, and then eventually meet up with your drivers when it's reasonably safe. Especially if the only alternative is driving down a road in the open that the enemy has good lines of sight to..... hypothetically speaking, of course 😀
The other possibility is setting up a strong overwatch position that covers the open ground you need to cross mounted, so that you can respond to anything that fires into the open area. And we're back to recon bait there. But they may help you locate the major threats without doing to much damage to you.
