  1. Any hope of getting the AMD drivers issue patched, maybe along with the next engine update?
  2. Increasing the graphics settings should help, one of them deals with the LOD pop-in range but I don't remember which one it is. If everything is already maxxed out then it's as good as it can get.
  3. It seems to take ages for Matrix/Slitherine/whoever they are to do anything, in a couple of months it will be a year since CMBN was supposed to come out on Steam, which is more than enough reason to just buy from BFC directly, as much as I like Steam's convenience, plus you can transfer over to Steam for free when it comes out anyway.
  4. One of the benefits is that devs can push hotfixes to the whole playerbase much easier, if a critical issue pops up they can fix it quickly and send out the update. I doubt Battlefront would do this though because of their large playerbase off of Steam so it's really just a way to increase the visibility of their games.
  5. Do you know what the name of the file is? If it's corrupted it'll probably just be displaying a blank image.
  6. No clue, I've never had an issue like that with a roof before, I don't think.
  7. +1 on getting CMRT next, if you're at all interested in the Eastern front. The amount of good content for it is INSANE, and it feels like a completely different game from CMBN.
  8. I've always wanted to see the KVs in action. There's all sorts of lend-lease vehicles that could be added too like Churchills and Stuarts and Matildas. A T-34 with a mine roller would be amazing too, I think ever CM game needs some sort of mine roller vehicle.
  9. I notice the biggest performance drop when looking at the deployment zone itself, on some of the big CMCW scenarios I will get single digit FPS when I look at the deployment zone but if I turn the camera away it gets somewhat better. Quite strange. Does go back to normal after I hit play though.
  10. It does feel unfair sometimes but CM is ultimately a game of dice rolls where through clever tactics and planning you get to load the dice in your favor, but even then it doesn't mean it is always going to go your way 100% of the time. I do agree with you that the system is not perfect and sometimes you will get bugs where a unit gets spotted through a 1 pixel wide hole through an entire forest, or a unit is in a weird spot where you just cannot draw LOS unless you do a little wiggle dancing to find the right spot, but those are exceedingly rare problems in my experience. As to your screenshot, a 1v1 standoff against vehicles who can both instakill each other is usually a bad idea. Potentially you could have popped the BTR around a corner for 15 seconds and then back again to limit your exposure, or distract it somehow so it's looking away, maybe blinding it with smoke, maybe an AT section which is a lot smaller target than a BTR? every engagement is unique and requires unique solutions, and in my experience the times I get frustrated with the LOS system are the times where I try and rush through things instead of taking the time to think through every turn about what I can do to minimize my exposure to the enemy while maximizing my chances of killing them. Do what you can to load those dice in your favor.
  11. You do a better job marketing the CM games than Battlefront does. I can envision an alternate timeline where Battlefront is a bigger company with more money and resources and they actually hire you to produce videos like this full time, a la Nicholas Moran's videos he does for Wargaming. Absolute masterpiece of a video as always.
  12. From what I remember, concrete armor didn't actually do anything but slow the tanks down and wear out their suspensions faster, and provide a bit of moral support to the troops.
  13. Depends on my level of laziness, usually I will split off 2 men per platoon as forward scouts and keep the rest of my squads intact until they start getting shot at, then I'll split them. CM is a game of patience, you have all the time in the world to micro your men so I feel like it's almost always best practice to keep them split.
  14. Trying to use ISU-152s as close range fire support is the first thing that comes to mind. Damned things probably killed more of my own men than they did enemies.
  15. IMHO half-track gunners are way more vulnerable than they should be, but TCs don't seem as bad, maybe just make them easier to suppress so when their tank starts getting peppered with fire they immediately close the hatches instead of looking around like an idiot until a bullet finally finds them.
  16. This really does look a lot more realistic. The first battle of the Tukums campaign for Fire and Rubble has you in command of a company of green SS troops mostly clearing forest and it felt good having them instantly trying to hit the deck after their squad gets a burst of PPSh shot at them just as they would in real life. It required a lot of heavy use of suppressing fires and maybe even lowered the casualties because my men would just enter a pinned status instead of continuing to run at the enemy. Crack units in CM more often just feel like robots instead of elite soldiers but it looks like conscripts act a lot closer to an average soldier. Have you tried any scenarios with conscript tank crews?
  17. Unfortunate but understandable, every change has to be looked at with an eye to how much time, money, and resources it would take to implement, and I'm sure even PBEM++ was a pain. Maybe in CMx3 then
  18. CM needs a modern lobby system like you'd get in any RTS game made in the last 15 years. PBEM++ feels more like desperately wrapping duct tape around a leaky pipe instead of just replacing the pipe, but with how the engine is built maybe that really is just the best that can be done.
  19. Operation LINNET II, I think it's part of the battle pack for CMBN. You have to move about a battalion of mixed tanks and other vehicles down a road, and then cross them all over a bridge, and then take them down another road through a town, and then cross ANOTHER bridge, and then maneuver them all up a curved forested road at the edge of a cliff. It's almost inevitable that you get at least one vehicle act weird when it's trying to cross one of the two bridges and create the traffic jam from hell that you have to spend 10 minutes sorting through, and since it's such a big assortment of different vehicle types you have to guess on their speeds so the traffic flows properly and doesn't create another traffic jam. If it's a company of vehicles down a mostly straight road, that's fine, I can handle that no problem, but in extreme circumstances like I've mentioned it just makes you want to close out the scenario and play one that isn't a traffic management simulator.
  20. Some scenarios become almost painful to play without a convoy command, I wonder if any of the playtesters for LINNET II developed carpal tunnel or tendinitis.
  21. I would put down hard cash right now for a Barbarossa game even if it meant I wouldn't be getting it until a couple years into the future. Earlier this year I read Between Giants by Prit Buttar and even in the relatively small section of the book that dealt with Barbarossa there were multiple battles that he described that I desperately wished that I could have played out in CM. Even if the next game isn't Barbarossa I'm way too much of a sucker for the Eastern front to not buy whatever it is immediately anyway
  22. I've never had units randomly charge at the enemy that weren't panicked or routing, but I have many times accidentally selected an entire formation and had them move where I didn't want them to that way just like Artkin said, so unless you have a video of it showing otherwise I'm guessing that was the issue.
  23. It's never been particularly good in my opinion, especially now when almost any search term will just give you 10 pages of posts from the Ukraine megathread.
  24. Doesn't even look half-baked, more like quarter-baked with terrible framerate, seemingly non-functional UI, no gameplay, and according to the video description is coming out in December? More competition in the marketspace is always good for the consumer but with this game I'm just not seeing it. Hope he can somehow defy the odds and pull it off though.
  25. Makes sense, it will give them enough time to become unsuppressed and make themselves a bigger target just in time for the next round of shells to start landing.
