  1. I'm not surprised that the PPSh beats the StG 44 at 180m, it's not really that long of a range and 7.62 Tokarev is a pretty hot round, but the MP40 results are definitely weirder. I'd be curious about if the StG 44 pulled ahead at 250-300m where an assault rifle really comes into it's own compared to an SMG but I'm not even sure if SMGs will engage at that range in CM. IMHO at 180m the PPSh and StG44 should be pretty close to each other with the MP40 lagging behind both, so SMGs are without a doubt overperforming.
  2. I notice it on agricultural fields but I'm pretty sure it's a universal issue that's always been there. There are texture replacement mods that help fix it too.
  3. Not trying to be mean, and no game or company is above criticism, but I don't think I've ever seen you make a post that wasn't you complaining about the game. If you think there's something weird going on with the AI you could run some repeatable tests so there's actual data that the rest of the community can look at rather than think Battlefront is conspiring against you with how the AI works.
  4. No clue about their effectiveness in real life but light mortars in CM are absolute game changers. It's just so convenient to be able to suppress an anti-tank gun or machine-gun with your infantry squads and then hit it with the light mortar for a few turns and knock it out. Even if you burn up an entire mortar's worth of shells on one emplacement it's well worth the trade and more often than not you'll still have a lot of shells left over.
  5. Some scenarios I just won't play because they involve babying a gigantic column of vehicles down a single lane road. It takes so much time and clicking that it just isn't worth it, especially since you have to save every turn to make sure a vehicle's pathfinding won't break and create a 20 car pileup. A working convoy command is one of my biggest asks too.
  6. I'm always pro-sales, who doesn't like getting something for cheaper than they normally would? Something that BFC really needs to do is to update all of the demos to the latest engine version and add them on Steam. I'd imagine that there are more than a few people out there on Steam who thinks the entry price of CM is too steep but would maybe change their mind if there was an easily accessible demo for them to try.
  7. Playing the To Berlin campaign for Fire and Rubble, my Soviets had to defend against a German counterattack and I had a Soviet company commander in an M3 half-track hold off a platoon of German infantry by himself, the guy was like the Soviet Audie Murphy, every time the Germans tried to attack he'd hose them down with .50 cal fire until they broke, and they'd recover and keep attacking again and again. At one point I had him retreat into a ditch but he still was holding them off even though the Germans were only 30 or so meters away. Never again have I seen an exposed gunner last that long in a CM game, usually a random rifleman will just snipe them from 200m away.
  8. There are a ton of knowledgeable and helpful people on this forum, and the best part is how willing they are to share that knowledge with others. Good to have you around, Simicro!
  9. Always nice when you manage to stumble into the enemy's mortars!
  10. There's footage out there of the aftermath of a French Sherman being hit by an 88, absolutely grisly stuff. Unless you have a crack/fanatic crew, nobody is gonna be staying in their vehicle and keep fighting after a significant emotional event like that.
  11. You need to select the HQ, not the mortar team.
  12. Oh yes, absolutely. I bet ChatGPT doesn't believe that there was a nuclear weapon used at Kursk either . Poor John.
  13. Clearly ChatGPT is controlled by the Greys.
  14. Addendum: The graphical issues are on some scenarios really obvious but on others are practically invisible. Here's a random quick battle where everything looks fine, maybe it has something to do with the time of day? Regardless, the flashbang explosions are gone so the game is actually playable now. Also getting some out of memory crashes on big maps like Seelow Heights in CMRT that I'm not getting with 22.5.2, update seems like a bit of a mixed bag.
  15. Just tested it and it's fixed! Game still loads super fast too. There still seem to be some graphical issues though, U.S. rifle squads in CMBN have giant antennae sticking out of them and some vehicles have similar problems and the bocage can look weird at certain angles too, tested it with and without mods.
  16. Awesome, I've been taking a break from CM since the drivers started breaking things so it'll be great to get back into it again. Big thanks to everyone who helped out by reporting the issue so we could get it fixed!
  17. There are such a staggering amount of QUALITY user-made campaigns and scenarios for CMBN that by the time you get through them all you'll have forgotten how half of them play and can go through them again as if they were fresh. Of course there are some questionable user-made scenarios as there are bundled scenarios where your troops get spawned in the middle of a firefight or have a company of enemy troops spawn behind you with no warning, but you can just choose to not play them after you discover the "gotcha" moment and move on to one of the other two or three hundred-odd scenarios out there.
  18. I still have flashes on the Steam version, both without mods and with whatever explosion effects the All in One pack uses.
  19. Added my input to the thread, it would be great if we could get this fixed by AMD themselves so Phil doesn't have to waste a bunch of time on it.
  20. Familiarity breeds contempt and it's just naturally easier for humans to notice flaws instead of positive things. Some of the critics are a little silly but I think most people critique because they're passionate about the games and just want them to become better, but it's good to show some positivity sometimes too.
  21. Interesting, it seems like something that would work, it wouldn't be the first time an already established company funded new games through it and it requires people to put their money where their mouth is. If one guy can fund CM:FI, why can't the community fund CM:Barbarossa or any other game that people want to see?
  22. Has the idea to start a Kickstarter to gauge interest for potential new CM games ever been tossed around? I wouldn't mind putting down $60 for an early war Eastern Front game for example, even if I knew it wouldn't release for another couple of years.
  23. I also felt like I was loading into missions a lot faster which is weird because I figured that would be a hard drive/CPU thing unless it's loading stuff into VRAM? Still functionally unplayable but at least it's unplayable in a different way now.
  24. I started liking the hulldown command more when I started using the target command a bit closer to whatever I'm targeting, since it's trying to get line of sight to the ground, but vehicles or enemy infantry are taller than the ground. It's good for the broad strokes of getting vehicles about where you want them and then if it isn't perfect you can fine tune it later.
  25. I've had wheat fields really mess with tanks, they can see the target but won't shoot because the wheat is blocking the barrel, I guess, which doesn't really make sense. I try to be careful with terrain features like that now because I'm never sure if it's going to hurt me or the enemy more when going inside it.
