  1. Hey all, shhhhhhhhh, Elvis is napping, dreaming of an all star quarterback in dark green w wings on his head that is just out of his reach...
  2. speaking of 1973 war, did anyone watch Valley of Tears on HBO? Some good tank action -- fast forward through the rest. but they were using chieftans -- which I am sure we will see in a CMCW DLC one day.
  3. Bil's videos & screenshots have me so excited I think I'm gonna pee my pants. This is great stuff. If I am that happy, I wonder how much more happy the actual 1980s army vets must be. (I was close to joining US military since didn't have enough money to continue college, but lucked into a job at GM (generous motors) just a couple weeks before I planned on joining up -- GM paid a LOT more than the ~minimum wage gas station I have been working for years) The add-ons for CMCW are gonna make the 2020s worth living -- Germans, Brits, Dutch, French maybe. Perhaps some snow campaigns up north. Maybe some mid-east fights. Yeah, keep it coming.
  4. ahhh, yes, and this song is now the theme song for the excellent "Deutschland 83" TV show from Germany. Young East German Lt. forced to spy in west germany. Three seasons, all excellent, available in US on Hulu.
  5. No one mentioning Mech Brigade & Reforger 88, the old Atari games? Or Red Lightning by Norm Koger? (on the game side that is) Anyway, there was also a book called Chieftains by Bob Forrest-Webb, which was quite good until a rather abrupt end -- Brit tanker in ww3 in the right era.
  6. Right-O, Fireship4. I was just saying it's one tough crowd! And it is, and that's the big reason the games are so authentic. Cup half full vs half empty is all. I am still thinking I am going to wake up and realize this was just a nice dream that could never happen in real life. The opening did say it's a sandbox, so someone will probably have it there in not too long.
  7. Just picked up Red Storm free on library loan online on audio. First listen in 30+ years.
  8. So we just surprise-won the combat mission lottery for $50Million, and all folks talk about is "too bad it wasn't $51M"??? geeeeez, tough crowd All I have to say is THANK YOU to Bill H, The Capt, et al.
  9. Hey Mr Heirloom,

I finished the Duna (Duma?) battle #14, nicely done.  Had enough forces to leapfrog through the buildings.  Good combined arms work kept the ambushes from wreaking havoc.  Overall good fun.

Now on battle #1 "going downtown":  ugly so far.  One of two challengers had gun damaged by mix of tank & ATRM fire.  On my left tanks are moving in, don't like that.  I've knocked out some tanks using shoot & scoot of javelin teams -- run up on roof, fire, run back down.  Your attacks are generally troublesome in this campaign.  Unlike most AI attacks I actually fear for my life in these.  Usually it's dumb hordes plowing forward into my waiting guns, not so here.  Nice work!

  10. I'd say this is why we can't have nice things, like being told in advance of new products. If they tell us it's cooking we will all be complaining incessantly about 'when will it be ready'. (I am included in this complaining.) I really like this surprise. It killed my work productivity this morning but I am recovering finally. This is a dream come true. And so now I start complaining about not have Brits, Dutch, Germans, Belgians, French, Czechs, Poles, ......
  11. Ordered via PayPal! this is great. And what a deal -- I spend $75 a month for 5 months per year just to watch football, so CMCW for $60 is great bang for the buck, hundreds of hours of playing w armymen in the dirt.
  12. I reread Team Yankee just last year, decades after 1st read. Was still great. And also did History of WW3, also great. Need to re-do Red Storm Rising!
  13. So Elvis, what release time frame are we talking about? Just in general I mean -- do you expect 2021 or will it be more like 2022?
  14. Must have Dutch & Belgians -- long, long ago I was a 20 yr old in charge of all NATO forces in Europe. I remember building a second, desperate defense line behind a river using Dutch & Belgian forces in Red Lightning. Soviets broke through to that line but were firmly halted, fortunately having been heavily depleted during the breakthrough. So yes, let's not forget the Dutch! I am guessing this game will be expandable to other NATO countries, like has been done w CMSF. Certainly gives me a reason to wish for a long life!
  15. here's the units from Grigsby's 80s game: http://www.atarimania.com/8bit/boxes/hi_res/reforger_i_12.jpg
  16. Oh My Gawd! Is that 1980s CM?? So like Red Lightning, or as someone said Fulda Gap? What was that game I played in the mid 80s? -- Reforger 88, that's was it! Early Gary Grigsby work. Loved that, and Norm Koger's Red Lightning. I am calling if CMFY for F-k Yes!!!! I am ready to pre-order
  17. Hey Heirloom, I am back in Syria after being de-incarnated back to Dec 1944 as a german for some nasty battles in The Road to Bastogne. Now reincarnated as a Brit in Syria in modern times. Campaign battle #14, Battle for Duma, about to begin. And I have a holiday today (US president's day) to get started. This battle looks really nasty -- sun going down, MOUT. Briefing said don't be rash, move quickly (thanks to commanding officer for those wise and conflicting orders!). Mixed UK/US force w three challengers. I am actually feeling physical fear at moving my beloved pixeltruppen in!
  18. I'm looking forward to the winter battles in Hungary & around Budapest, the last big offensives of the germans, w lots of tigers & panthers, some soviets heavies. I've wanted this since I read "Tomb of the Panzerwaffe" book a few years back.
  19. If pre-order doesn't make sense for anyone, then don't do it. but why bother to comment on it here? I do it to show support for a small company that gives me hundreds of hours of historically-based wargaming entertainment and doesn't sell out and become World of Tanks or some other twitchy gamey thing -- the kind of games that make a lot of money. Now that I've been nice to them I demand they immediately release eastern front 1941-43.
  20. OHHHHHHHH THIS IS THE REAL PRE_ORDER THREAD!!! Yes please, take my money! I thought this was still the earlier fake thread. Dumb I am.
  21. So with this thread active, how the folks will I know when pre-orders are actually active? They'll all think it's this bait & switch thread. Maybe continue this conversation in a new thread w a different title?
  22. oh, yeah, my first CMBS battle. Just last year. Good times! Thanks for the excellent video, 37mm.
  23. It's also about distribution of said fix. BFC probably has 50+ fixes it wants to do. This is what patches are for. Collect a bunch of fixes and publish all together. They certainly can't just fix little things like this and put out a new version because some not very important APC reverses too slowly -- they'd have dozens of code versions in no time, a maintenence and support nightmare. Of course, maybe that particular APC had transmission issue and just needs maintenence (kidding), given it's an over-designed, absurdly expensive vehicle in the first place. Considering my main use for this vehicle is recon-by-death, I am not concerned, though I respect that some find this intolerable. this is the great blessing and curse of BFC community. Folks here really, really know their stuff. And they are really, really picky.
