I'm actually Chinese, and my observation of Chinese netizens' reaction is actually very much the opposite.  The great majority of ordinary Chinese citizens seem to buy into Russia's propaganda (b/c that's what they are fed on Chinese media) and many are very pro-Putin.  They lay the blame at Ukraine and the West's doorstep, and feel that Russia is helping China by checking the West's expansionism and disrupting their containment of China's own rise.  The strong nationalist sentiment that Xi Jinping has been cultivating through propaganda and autocratic leadership is very worrying...

Underrated? Personally I found some of what they had to say was guff! Just a few notable examples of crap (by no means exhaustive) that stood out for me:-
"Intelligence" was actually either non existent or fatally flawed - this partly explains why the Russians have ended up running such a bad campaign from the off.  Lots of examples!   I haven't observed an "initial recon in force" - from the off, the aim was to seize airfields with elite forces (which failed), and simultaneously assault along lines of attack with low quality troops, expecting that might be all that was needed for a quick and easy occupation of territory. Overall it looked unsophisticated compared to the pre planning and implementation of either of the Iraq campaigns, which are hallmarks in all respects here.    "Well supplied forces" - Russians have been vastly under supplied. there's plenty of evidence of this!  "Airforce involvement is low because Russia doesn't want to damage too much infrastructure" - huge, huge lol on that one! "Winter campaign chosen wisely to prevent potential allies intervening" - No one is intervening in UKR (regrettably) for "escalatory reasons". It's more likely Putin attacked at the end of Feb to take advantage of what appeared to him to be a narrowing window of opportunity, it was a simple "now or never" moment in his risk board-game world perspective.  Ethnic Russians make up 17% of pop, not 30% - these guys are NOT even in command of basic facts.

I could go on...but no, this is a very unimpressive analysis in my view

There must be more to it than that.
Western Intel must be complementing UKR work, with airborne/space surveillance providing realtime location to UKRVSF command.
Their decapitation strikes have been far above what a Tier 1 v Tier 2 conflict should permit. Basic tactical security for RUS command groups should be able to deal with headhunter attacks. The guys getting killed are dying because they can't escape the kill plan, which itself must therefore be robust enough, layered enough and informed enough identify them, geolocate, rapidly coordinate the kill teams and describe escape routes/options, to quickly hit, trap and kill them.
They're getting hit because UKR has correctly identified C4 as critical to disjointing RUS operations, but they're actually dying consistently due to real time Western ISR.
One or two lucky kills I could see. But this current campaign of nobz-killin is systematic, rigorous, carefully selective and relentlessly successful. Western hallmarks.

It was very much the same during WW2 as it is now. The flight officer was pointing with his stick on a map and told the bomber crew that they should bomb this or that city after which the bomber crew went into their plane. The one that was keeping an eye on the ground below waited until he saw what he was waiting for and when they were over the lit up city he told the boss that it was time to open the belly of the plane to let the iron rain fall down to kill.
So it was just as much murder then as it is now. And the bomber crew wanted to give the "damned crauts" what they thought the "crauts" deserved.

I'm ok. I just too tired about all these news monitoring, so I havn't enough energy to write here. Today I tried to depart my wife from the city to her parents in more calm Cherkasy oblast, but we can't reach to railway station. Municipal transport stopped on the left bank of Kyiv, though on the right it works like and subway.
All day from my balcony, wich exits to Obolon' and Vyshhorod periodically heard a sounds of shellings. Now I heard outcoming shots of our 2S7 Pion guns, located in 5 km from my house close to city limit. They fire somewhere to the west, where Russian troops concentrates to attack on the city. All day there were periodycal clashes on the line Irpin'-Bucha-Vorzel-Hostomel. There was attempt of Russian tank attack from Chernobyl zone through Ivankiv on Kyiv, but because of we had a time to demolish the bridges through the Teterev river, they halted.

    Hello gamers and mainly devs.

Me, as a youngling to the Combat mission, I'd request developers to add something new other than skin, maps, language and guns. It needs something different! The game is 90% same across all games. If I imported all the models and skins from Combat Mission Shock Force 2 to Combat Mission cold war, the game would probably run it as nothing. And with it, it has the same issues. CQB is nightmare in reality too, but in Combat Mission, it's especially bad. If you have like 1 unit and need to perform CQB. Absolutely impossible. And the "Hunt" command is pretty useless as if they are in Hunt command, they start walking at slow pace and when see someone/something, they stop and will disable all following commands. Can't you guys make it that troops will HOLD for the amount of time they keep seeing the enemy or the enemy is neutralized? That would make CQB soooo much more easier and life would be good.

I've spoken to my friends and this is general feedback I get why they won't ever buy Combat Mission game:

Literally every game is same - That is in my opinion very true. It doesn't mean it'd be bad. But the same issue Combat Mission Afghanistan has, it's also in Combat mission Cold war.  Graphics - Irrelavant argument for me but it's also why a lot of players turn down. Especially the edges of the map, the sky Only 1v1 multiplayer with ancient connection system, no coop, no more players than 1v1 scenario. - In my opinion, very good argument. Combat mission is only 1v1 and without coop regime. This needs to be changed in the future (or would be amazing if was changed right now). Price tag too high - Well. If we take in account that all the games are basically same. A skillful modder would probably make Shock Force 2, Cold war or Black Water out of Combat mission afghanistan. It's very high.  Planes/Helis are not part of the game. - We can get in argument that planes / helis fire from kilometers away and are irrelavant for the game, but I think it would certainly be healthy to add visual planes flying above, even if very far away. And when planes crash, you can see it too. The DLC fest. (Mostly Combat Mission Shock Force 2). - For the game where you charge 60€ for a same mechanical features as in every previous game. It's absolutely crazy to charge 20€ for a basically a nation bundle.
The arguments I expect under this thread:
The price tag is that high because of: Small audience, simulation, bluh bluh bluh.... That is an interesting point, but is irrelavant. The game should be worth its money, which I'm afraid most of the games don't meet. The game is not same because in game XY, they moved 0.3km/h slower and fired 0,8 meters further. Please.... Just don't... Don't consider this thread as a hate. It's more like objectively true. I really love the concept of Combat mission series and I'd love them to continue. But the work / content / features is very much not meet with the price tag.
Also PLEASE guys, create your own discord. Don't be like your MP lobbies stuck in 80's/90's.

Thank you for reading to this point.

    v. 1.0 List of changes:
    1. Replaced the fictional Syrian flag with the real flag of the Syrian Arab Republic
    2. Replaced the Ssh-40 steel helmet with the Ssh-68.
    3. Replaced the fictional all-black outfit of the Syrian special forces with the standard Syrian woodland camouflage (w/ late Soviet-style armor vest) and the black helmets with olive or camouflage-covered Kevlar helmets (to represent the Chinese QGF-02).

    Acknowledgments:
A big thanks to @||CptMiller|| and @SaintFuller for making their armor vest and Ssh-68 helmet mods available for our community!  Not long ago, @||CptMiller|| released a mod for the fictional Sahrani Liberation Army, which made the Syrians into a generic Soviet-style OPFOR with armor vests and Ssh-68 helmets (helmets made by @SaintFuller).  This ingenious mod is what gave me the tools to make this realism mod for the Syrian Arab Army.

    Research notes:
    (1) The stock Syrian helmet in the game is the Ssh-40, which is a WW2-era Soviet helmet.  The Syrians began equipping their troops with the Ssh-68 by 1982 and were still widely using it in 2005 when Syria pulled out of Lebanon.  Based on my research, the Syrian army would not begin widespread equipment of Kevlar helmets until shortly before the Arab Spring.
    (2) The stock all-black outfit worn by the Syrian special forces is in fact worn by the Iraqi special forces, but I haven’t seen any reference pointing to its use by the Syrians. Based on news photos from when the Arab Spring protests began, we know that the SAA had body armor and Kevlar helmets by Spring 2011.  I think it’s reasonable to assume that the Syrian special forces had this type of modernized equipment a few years earlier.
The photos below are comparisons of the modded SAA soldiers with photos of the real SAA.

I still wish we had a specific throw grenades command. It is so frustrating to watch hardly any grenades get chucked while the smg blasts off his magazine, then has near empty mag for the attack. From films, admittedly, but it seems very common practice for grenades to get thrown en masse before a prepared close assault.

My idea would be equivalent to throw smoke command for infantry.

Sir Lancelot got a reaction from Nektoman in Skins for 2017 Ukrainian/Pro-Russia Separatist forces
    All,
A link for my Ukrainian/Pro-Russia Separatist skin is included below.
Back in early 2016, I did hours of research and created a set of skins for the Ukrainian government and separatist forces based on several preexisting mods (Veins' Russian and Ukrainian Infantry skins, Stagler's Russian skins with gorka and flora camo, Blimey's "Separatist - UKR Digital Slot").  The resulting product is a line-up of government and separatist forces wearing a motley of different camo clothing.  I would like to thank Stagler, Veins, and Blimey for your wonderful contribution to our community!  But if any of the original content creators object to my usage of their mods, pls message me, I will make revisions accordingly.  This is my first post, do let me know if you encounter any problem with the download or the mod itself, I will fix it.  Also please share your thoughts on how we can improve this mod together, I want this project to belong to our whole community.  Hope you guys enjoy!
    Description of the mod:
    1. Ukrainian government forces:
The government soldiers wear mostly the new digital camo pattern, mixed in with some uncovered green/gray helmets and the old bytan-pattern camouflaged helmets and ballistic vests.
    2. Pro-Russia separatist forces:
I chose the digital slot for the separatists because I feel that, notwithstanding reports of Russian arms surfacing in Donbass, the separatists' equipment is still predominantly the same equipment used by the Ukrainian government forces.  What differentiates this mod from Blimey's version is the inclusion of a different mixture of motley camouflage and helmets, rebalanced to reflect (in my opinion) a more authentic look for the government forces and the separatists.  Based on my research, olive gorka suits and Russian flora patterns are fairly common among separatist ranks.  Occasionally, you will also see some separatists wearing equipment in the new Russian digital pattern.  For identification purpose, separatists tie white bands on their arms and legs (Government forces sometimes use yellow tape for identification, but I left this feature out b/c this practice appears to have become less common since the adoption of the new digital pattern).  This mod reflects these observations accordingly.
Furthermore, I reintroduced helmets for the separatists for several reasons. (1) I can't add bare-headed separatists without also having to remove helmet chain-strap from all Ukrainian models. (2) In intense battles (e.g., Second Battle for Donetsk Airport), video footage showed many frontline separatists wearing helmets.  (3) This game reflects the conflict in 2017, it's likely that the separatists have become better equipped.

Is there any news available about the different issues for the Dutch in CMSF:2?
The current issues I am aware of:
    - Gill/Spike MRAT inverted flight path resulting in missiles often connecting to the ground and not the intended target.
    - Absence of Radio's on every level, from sections to FO's to commanders.
    - Problems with Airburst munition for the CV90. Munition explodes on target, but before the target.

Last possible feature that would be absolutely great to have:
    - To extent the BAA recon mount on the Fennek vehicle, to make it possible to observe from hull-down positions, which is currently very difficult.
In case that is not possible, it would be a possible solution to make it possible to dismount with the BAA recon mount to have a stand-alone observation equipment, just as in RL

It would be great to get reaction about the current status of the issues mentioned above🙂

Like **** they did. Maybe the Russians gave little quarter - but to even suggest any kind of equivalence for the western allies is nothing but perverse.
"It has been established that half of US documented accounts of WW2 are embellished as falsified lies, cover-ups to deviate from the truth of the horrific and despicable War Crimes committed by the US Army which makes them no better then the Nazis, Japanese & Russians."

You can have multiple files of helmet textures, so the strong white netting intermixed with others, I think would look fantastic.

Need to get the colour of the netting right first, then you can create a fresh bump map with settings for a strong bump effect. Similar netting with a good bump effect will exist on some modded CMBN US helmets so it might be worth checking out what they look like as textures for comparison. You might have to do some digging to find these textures, they were done as far back as 2012, and in some cases probably don't work in CM anymore because models were renamed or even reskinned.

    Free normal map (bump) software:

    http://www.crazybump.com/

The apparent lighter green colour helm in the pics above I think is partly explained by the effect of higher contrast pics. Unfortunately there are no specular or diffuse maps in CM that would ordinarily give metal that natural shininess in the game environment - this is why most metal objects look dull in CM. Not pretty!!

If you have a good image editor and try experimenting with higher contrast settings, you could something much better though. Again go look at some modded photo-realistic German and American helms textures for BN. Can't speak for the other CM families because I don't have them unfortunately...
