  1. This is what I tell the pizza delivery guy all the time. He is a parasite because he didn't cook the bloody pizza, he just facilitated it ending up in my hands, in exchange for my money. I really hate that guy, thinking that he is offering a service and getting paid for it. The game isn't expensive though. $60 isn't real money anymore.
  2. Engine wishlist? 1. More than 2 player multiplayer. Larger battles would be a lot more fun if you could split responsibility between multiple players. 2. More than 2 player multiplayer. 3. Funding this to 100% and having nothing will result in the same thing, except in the first case the community would be out $32k and there would be bad blood between some members. Have they come up with a basic design? They didn't show it to anyone publicly. They had a big list of features they wanted, and a couple of map images. I didn't see even a mockup of what the game would look like though. No UI design, just a mention of PC/Mac/Mobile. No indication that they have any idea how difficult it would be to reconcile PC/mobile conceptually, let alone technically. Multiplayer mentions 16 players. How do they propose to do that? Are they going to have a central server for people to connect to? Will it be the largest PBEM hot potato in history? No, this needs more time to develop, an actual design plan, a prototype, and probably a more realistic look at a beginning feature set. You can't be the Star Citizen of Operational Wargames on a $32k budget.
  4. LOL. This is a terrible kickstarter attempt. Anyone who draws any further conclusions from this has seriously impaired judgement. It is a wishlist with an unrealistic timetable, cost, and no indication that anyone on the team has the capability to follow through. Sorry, but this needed a lot more time in the oven before asking for support.
  5. Well, that just isn't true though. Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 all have resource use improvements that will result in increased performance over Windows 7, although the difference will be minor. I don't necessarily think people should jump into week 1 on this thing, but 6 months down the road and you haven't used your free win10 upgrade? Your loss.
  6. Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't need to reactivate any of my CM titles. "fix something that is not broken" is the worst excuse to stop progress I have ever heard. That attitude would have us languishing on XP forever. Meanwhile, moderate UI changes punish people who are incapable of adapting to even minor change, which provides much amusement.
  7. I'm probably one of the biggest critics of BFC when it comes to software quality and some of the openGL beginner-itis with the game engine, but I don't think this is true at all. Performance on my ungodly-mega computer is substantially better with 1.3 compared to earlier versions, which also brought things like WEGO multiplayer. Lots of little things could still add up. Not interested in the Battle pack (single player wargames are meh to me) but I'll be purchasing Bulge and every other module day 1.
  8. Sounds like Bulge, Italy, and Red Thunder are all lined up for releases before Black Sea gets another turn at bat. Don't hold your breath. Welcome to Battlefront.com
  9. It may be old news for you, but not everyone has 18000 posts on an internet forum.
  10. For the reasons I specified in my last post. If you want to be the guy that connects with to a VLAN with people who can't figure out how to port forward, be my guest. It's really excessive for a game a simple as Combat Mission. Skype maybe. I always thought that Steam Voice Chat was low quality and latency heavy, although that may have changed.
  11. Every time I encounter someone who can't figure out how to port forward to get Combat Mission or anything else working, they inevitably disable their Windows firewall, and are flapping in the wind, so to speak. If you want to talk to someone get a VOIP server. They cost a whopping $3/month
  12. Why would you need Hamachi for this? Seems like an unnecessary security risk.
  13. That's just the mini bundle though. The full CMBN is $105.
  14. Yeah, I know. True believers use the One True Name, "GNU/Linux". Terminals are still A+ #1 double good though.
  15. Powercmd, conEmu or Take Command are all ways for cool people to continue to be cool, even on Windows.
  16. Torturing people who learn how to use their computers through rote memorization is half the fun of being in software development, and people like that certainly deserve to be tortured, so kudos to Microsoft.
  17. Can you point some out? eSim Games Steel Beasts is the only one I can think of with such a rigid pricing policy. Matrix/Slitherine and Eagle Dynamics have both made 180's with their draconian pricing policies, and it seems to be working out for them. Matrix will be talking about their pricing strategy at HoW15 this month. Should be interesting.
  18. Is CMFI 3.0 patched up to the level of Red Thunder 1.03 or CMBN 3.11? I found the last patches for both of these ended all the instability issues with WEGO multiplayer.
  19. It's perfectly legitimate for someone to point out that you are literally insane to contest an argument of yours.
  20. The T-72B3's turret can already reach anywhere in the world in 7 hours.
  21. You should consider changing your communications pattern if you don't want to be identified so quickly.
  22. Will this patch resolve the flying trenches in WEGO multiplayer?
