Declan and I batted a few ideas around. Then given the fact that I am a complete duffer when it comes to these new fangled mechanical typewriter whatsits, he provided me with a link to the Microsoft C ++ (x86) thingamybob, which worked. I just have to cobble together some new music mods as I lost all the ones that I created some years back when my old PC died.

It could be related to that then, who knows.  Good luck my friend and let us know how it's going...

Is it something to do with the oddness of CMBN installing in a different place to all the others?
Did you use the full installers, and accept the default locations?  I used them recently but told them where to install - however, the result was that my Battlefront folder has a Combat Mission sub-folder with every WW2 except CMBN, while CMBN has it's own sub-folder.
It's just a thought.  If that doesn't help I think you will need the one who helped me - @BFCElvis.

The CMBN campaign "Operation 'Coup de Main'" has been completed and posted at FGM's Scenario Depot.
This is my final contribution to CMBN scenarios, campaigns and mods.

From an historical point of view, the Allied Tactical air support in WW2 was more directed against line of supplies and enemy units in movement than against tactical defending positions on the battlefield. So it's not surprising that its effectiveness is not wonderful in the frame of CM WW2 games!

Yes, put all Teams from same Squad/Section into same Action-Spot and they should automagically recombine within a minute.

Put them in the same action spot and give them a turn and they'll recombine.

Operation Coup de Main campaign update.
Play testing has started on the campaign script.  I expect a few more months of work debugging. Recently had some time away to deal with creative burnout and work on some home renovations and furniture restoration. Back at the campaign now.

Here is a list of scenarios completed to date but not yet integrated into campaign. I have not yet determined if and how any branching results will be included . The current scenarios are different from the ones already uploaded due to new and more complete information. They will be released as free-standing scenarios at the same time as the campaign is released because the free standing scenarios will differ slightly from 'unpacked' campaign scenarios. The first scenario will have a choice between an 'easy' historical option in which the Germans were caught completely by surprise or a 'more challenging 'What If?' variant where the Germans have been alerted that the invasion was imminent and are standing to. Players will choose which path to follow.
Coup de Main v2 (historical): The coup de main assault on the bridges by the British Airlanding troops.
Coup de Main (What If? variant): As above but the Germans at the bridge are on Alert Level II.
Tracked Vehicles Approaching: The first German response to regain the bridges.
7th Para Moves Up: 7th Para moves through the Oxf and Bucks to expand the perimeter at the canal bridge.
First Contact in Benouville: As "A" Coy moves into position they encounter scattered Germans
A Brief Encounter (Le Port): A column of German vehicles wants to pass through Le Port.
9 Platoon Patrol: 9 Ptn B Coy is sent west to patrol the end of the wooded spur.
Panzers vs Paras (work in progress today, revising large scenario): Benouville heats up - seriously.
An Argument Over T (completed but will be revised): The enemy has penetrated through to the T junction above the bridge.

    Not yet started ....
Crisis in Benouville: "A" Coy is surrounded, the Germans are in the school house and the Mairie and still control the northern half of Le Port. All the troopers of "A" company are either dead or wounded. "B' Coy has been bled badly and "C' is scattered. It's DO or DIE.
Pipers and Snipers: If you survived the crisis .... time for some mopping up in Le Port
Well Done Lads!: Finally relief in the form of elements of British 3rd Infantry up from Sword Beach.

Hi no probs with being pedantic, and hope you enjoy the campaign. Absolutely correct, and you cannot beat walking the ground in scenario design. I've discovered more info as time goes on, better pictures of Buchholz station and Lanzerath have come to light, for example the location of the old church as opposed to the modern one, but you can only try your best with resources you have access to at the time. I did base Losheim water courses on the attached, so genuine error if incorrect.

The Our at Ouren is definitely an obstacle as you say. But Ouren is more than 50Km downstream from the Our at Losheim which begins as a trickle 5km upstream near Losheimergraben.

You have a dedicated Forward Observer, mounted in Sdkfz 250 (unless you have moved him) and he has access to all artillery including the Nebelwerfers.

Page 4 and 5 of the thread have a number of comments from him about it as he worked through several iterations.

The bravery...  @FlammenwerferX's isolated gun crew tries to fight off my IS-2s with a P38.  I don't think 9mm is going to penetrate...

According to the wiki page, Universal carrier were only to tow 6-pdr in emergency situations. The standard towing tractor for the 6-pdr is the Loyd Carrier.

Just a comment.  In the other games where tank riding is allowed, if the tank and the (suitably sized) rider unit are in the same setup zone, moving the unit to the tank will immediately show them jumping aboard, no need to wait for the first turn.  That's if you have setup zones with both the tank and riders present.
Probably the words 'granny' and 'suck eggs' come to mind 😉.

Nope...You are not allowed to have 'Tank Riders' (can't mount troops on tanks) in CMBN or CMFI...However, in CMRT & CMFB (maybe Modern titles) you can mount.
You should still be able to mount your Infantry in Bren Carriers, but beware of how many troops can be seated...You may need to break-down your Squad in order to fit them into those Carriers.
Years ago, Battlefront was thinking of having 'Tank Riders' in CMBN & CMFI, but the effort to put them in wasn't there.

My fight with @FlammenwerferX is heating up as men and armor move through the countryside.
My recon units give the German enemy a face full of canister.

Flammenwerfer's men happen to take out one of my T-34s by killing the unbuttoned commander and then spooking the rattled crew out with grenades.  Still, having thought I had put down all the ambushers a burst of SMG fire takes down multiple men of mine at once.

However, despite the rain and cold my men are determined to make our introductions to the invader.

Operation Deadstick... I've updated my Scenario I made years ago, now with the Horsa glider and updated Canal bridge,

Major Howard Lands Meters away from the Benouville bridge, he leaves the Horsa glider, to begin the operation, his orders are simple, take the bridge and hold until relieved...

Within minutes they are engaging with the Anti Tank Gun and German Bridge security units...

After dealing with the At Tank and Bunker, Howard and his men storm over the bridge, objective to engage the German troops in trenches on the other side...

A German squad, storms out of the barracks and get to the trenches on the opposite side of the river...

More of Major Howards teams join the assault on the bridge...

The Wehrmacht troops defend well initially but are only conscripts and very nervous and don't take much for them to make a run for it...

The Paras soon reach The Café Gondrée, which becomes the first building to be liberated on D-Day, the café owners were in the cellar and are the first French civilians to be liberated, Major Howards learns that the Ranville Bridge had also been successfully assaulted...

But Lieutenant Brotheridge, commander of No.25 Platoon, "D" Company, 2nd Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, was the first allied casualty of D-Day...

The paras start to create a defence perimeter around the bridge, waiting for the German response... and clearing any enemy troops from the surrounding houses...

    Some surrender...

    ...some try to resist...

but resistance at this stage is futile...

The bridge is secure... for now...

Reinforcements start to trickle in from units of the 6th Airborne division...

Later in the morning three German Panzer IV's make the decision to attack the bridge (historically the first Pzr IV was destroyed, at the junction by a very brave para with a Piat close range, this made the other two panzers retreat), in my scenario one of the tanks make it close to the bridge...

...but I managed to despatch this threat when it entered a courtyard near the bridge, all crew mown down by the elite paras...

Now Major Howard remembers his orders, 'hold until relieved', things quit down and the paras do their best to prepare for the counter attacks that were sure to come soon.

    Note:
Special thanks to Lucky strike for his Hedgerow Hell Mod.
To Phil for sending me his amazing model of the Horsa Glider.

I finally made some tests, because relying on ocasional experiences in various scenarios is not enough. What I actually tested the ability of British infantry soldiers to recover weapons from the Support Company's different Carriers and Loyds.
    The result is VERY clear.
ANYBODY can recover and use the PIATs and 2-in mortars from the CARRIER vehicles. The teams from the unit itself, the driver, or infantry teams from another company - all can use both the 2-in mortar and the PIAT.
On the other hand, NOBODY can recover and use the 2-in mortar from the Loyd carriers. If you check, in the AT tank sections of the Support Company there is a vehicle called 'X' mortar. This Loyd carrier owns a 2-in mortar. Well, NOBODY can recover and use this mortar, it never shows in the unit's inventory. I've tried with the Section's AT gun and ammo bearer teams, with the Loyd's driver, and with another company's infantry team. NOPE. NO WAY. This mortar CANNOT be used.
It sounds very much like a bug to me, and I'll post this in the big tracker thread.
