Thank you for the vote of confidence Sir, but we didn't have Javalins when I was in. We were just getting the TOW, and showing the Manufacturer and the Army that we could do everything they were telling us that we couldn't. For example, they said we couldn't fire a TOW from a moving vehicle, so we mounted a TOW launcher on a jeep and hit the target while the jeep was moving. They said we couldn't  change targets in flight, or cross two TOWs in flight, so we did. Moral of the story; never tell the Marines they can't do something, they'll do it just to spite you.
Funny story about TOWs. One drill weekend in 1976 or 77, we went up to Ft. Riley, KS to live fire our 60mm mortars. We had to check fire and stand down on the range when an Army APC pulled up on the line, and the bleachers filled up with Army Officers, including a General Officer, for a demonstration. We watched great interest (none of us had ever seen a TOW) as a crew attempted to fire a TOW. WOOSH, BANG, the TOW slammed into the ground about 50 yds out. It must not have traveled far enough to arm the warhead, or it had a dummy, cause there was no explosion. The crew reloaded the launcher, and went back inside the APC. WOOSH, BANG! Same thing, same result. We were starting to chuckle at that point cause we saw the General climb down from the bleachers and enter the APC; we all know that nothing is funnier than another's discomfort, and those poor soldiers were about to get a real butt whooping from the General.After a little while, the General exits the APC, walks into the bleachers, and says "F$&king thing will work now!" Yes we were close enough to hear him. A few minutes later, WOOSH, BANG ; same spot. Our Weapons Platoon Commander, a Captain, says "F$&King thing will work now!" We were roaring, andthe General heard him, but was so embarrassed that he just left. Afterwards, our Skipper called over the Lt. commanding the crew, cause we felt sorry for him and the whooping we knew he was going to get later from his C.O. He had never seen an M2 mortar, so we let him fire a Final Protective Fire (30 rounds down the tube in 60 seconds). From the look on his face, he had just had an orgasm, and we had a friend for life, which is a good thing when you have to use someone else's facilities to train.
I have to assume that Javs are in the company or Battalion Weapons platoons because they are heavy weapons. For example, the Ma Duce .50'cal. and 81mm mortars are at Battalion level as were the Dragons that the Jav replaces. The Marines have the 5.56mm squad machine gun now, but the heavier 7.62mm gun that replaces the M-60 might be part of the Company weapons platoon as are the 60mm mortars. I haven't kept up with those changes for decades. Company or Battalion can better employ mortars, Javalins, and medium and heavy machine guns tactically than a rifle platoon can, but a platoon is still reinforced with them as the situation dictates.

I also have IL-2 (with all the addons and preorders) and Rise of flight on Steam, but I bought most on the developer's web sites during sales. I would rather pay a little more to make sure the developers get all of the money for the content. I too have DCS with everything except a couple of aircraft, but I bought everything from ED for the same reason stated above. Plus, after the licensing changes, new purchases for DCS on Steam can't be used on the ED DCS version, just the Steam version. I understand the cost factors. When my wife left her job to devote full time to raising our son, we lost 60% of our combined income. So, for 25 years before we retired, we were a one-income family. Want some real fun? I totally understand mi amigo. Most people don't realize or understand the effects of being a military dependent. A young friend of my son graduated from Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and listed me as a reference on his application for Marine officer candidate. Just after I finished filling out the USMC for with my observations, his father told me that the young man was engaged. I encouraged his father to try to get him to rethink marriage as it would be so difficult on their relationship. He married anywar, and was divorced within two years.
i don't believe anyone in a "highly-mobile" service should marry until after their initial service period, but that's just my highly, uneducated opinion.
And I agree, I've helped to derail this thread in a major way, and apologize for that. But, at least we aren't bitching and complaining about problems associated with a game. We now return this thread to your control. 👽

I meant to say a bit more about service earlier, but it slipped my mind while on my soapbox. I know some of your background from your previous posts, and I just have to say that a forgotten and unrecognized segment of military service is the military dependent. THEY have no real say in their lot, and have to go where ever the service man or woman goes. It can be a horribly disruptive life and can cause many psychological issues that go unrecognized and untreated. It is really a shame that more is not done to help ease the pain and stress of being separated than is being done, as NOTHING is being done! THEY WHO WAIT ALSO SERVE.

LOL, thank you, but my son beats me hands down. He turned 18 in High School, registered to vote and for the Selective Service, and has voted in every election since. I think I might have missed a couple because I didn't have an absentee ballot. I love it when I can say to someone "Why are you complaining about the election results? You didn't even vote! You have no right to complain." And we don't even have to worry about bombs or attacks at the polling places or obviously and clearly rigged results!

There's a reason we're called Public Servents. Others repay as they see fit through volunteering in food kitchens, working with Vets and the disadvantaged, or however else they feel the call. The best way to repay is to Vote!

One of the biggest issues here in the U.S. Is that the Federal Government still classifies it as a Class D drug from the Nixon days, that it has no medical value, even though medical research has proven that ther are a multitude of major uses including cancer and MS treatments. The politicians won't repeal the designation because it means admitting that they kept it classified as a class D drug for the last 60+ years simply to punish the hippies, blacks, and Hispanics that they couldn't prosecute any other way.

Since you already own CMSF1 + Marines, I'd preorder the British and NATO modules, and purchase CMSF2 + Marines at release.
I also bought my original CMSF (Paradox), and later  the upgrade key and Marines. Go on battlefront.com, login to your account and select the Upgrades. Your new key for Marines will be listed if you bought it after 2007. Even if your Paradox CMSF isn't listed, when you download the Marines module, CMSF base game will download with it. All of the CMx2 game downloads now have all of their modules already included, so you just have to enter your new module key to activate the module.

Ah, thank you for the explanation, I appreciate it. I know that the original in CMSF1 had the company start on the beach in AAVs, but real life and work got in the way of me playing much more than one Striker campaign and the first couple of missions of the Sempre Fi campaign. Since the FO team is there for a first minute artillery strike, it looks like I'll be playing A Day at the Beach again.

I asked basically the same question earlier in this thread some time ago. I never received an answer, but I'm assuming that "OBJ1" is the whole of Wilcox, and that the reference to an photo is for "local color" only.
Another brain twister is in "Day at the Beach." The scenario starts with a platoon of Marine Combat Engineers and Forward Observer team on the beach. I haven't been able to determine why they are there. In my estimation, the only time we'd have Engineers on the beach would to clear obsticles and mines. As a former Marine, I'd expect the initial landing party to be Force Recon to scout out and identify enemy positions. They could also call in initial fire missions if necessary, so the FO team is unnecessary too. Initial setup is pretty much a "head scratcher" for me.

I usually use a HI/LO mix for my atgms and the ratio depends on the terrain.
Preferably I can have kornets and saxhorns for my hi lo. In more open terrain say 3 kornet teams and 2 saxhorn teams, more urban id flip it to 3 saxhorn for 2 kornets.  I try to use really close engagement ranges for my atgms if theyre saxhorns as well - theyre very useful because they can be fired from the shoulder position and only have a 7 second delay to shoot in a building thst way unless you deploy them.
Generally the saxhorns usually kill bradleys flat out and at least immobilize abrams. Often will kill them. Kornets usually kill the abrams too, but remember this has to be done right. Some points -
I often have several groups or areas that ambush. I try as often as i can to have my defense open up all at once. This also makes it harder for the enemy to smash on unit to pieces at a time, if youre a near peer ambusher it depends on the firefigbt but if youre not then its only a question of are your defenders dying in place or are you going to try to fall some men back to new positions? Because you.ll always get wasted trying to stand and fight. So if your oppo is playing correctly and moving inf with his armor it should work well that your squads open up on enemy troops and the atgms open up on the armor same time. As much violence and noise packed into a really small amount of time and in an area youve isolated the enemy target from the main force even if only by sheets of smoke from burning vehicles, or a corner that was turned.
I never try front on ambushes with my atgms unless its absolutely forced. Sometimes it is, many a saxhorn squad Ive had were forced to shoot and blow up a bradley and be wasted by a hail of return fire because the brad just disgourged a team thats gonna run into that building -
That said ideally you have your atgms firing flank or rear shots at tue enemy to their left or right, and hopefully theyre in turn covered by another team or two to either lateral direction.
I usually tie my atgms into a net, where my kornets usually can see one or two of eachother at least. The saxhorns not so much but of course if they can -
If you have any armor this is where crappy RedFor armor, whether T72B3s with regular or green crews in BS or T72s SF, this is where you can hopefully actually kill US armor with those tanks. You position the tanks as you would a WW2 TD, in ambush. You want to be able to try to pull it out when its immediate visible threats are gone if it lives.  Basically your tank or tanks will have the premo lines of sight and since they almost are always definite spots they are best used to kick off ambushes. Especially with timing problems in WeGo,  a huge arc so the T72 opens up on anything it sees (but it cant seemuch bc its keyholed) so if the enemy rushes faster than you can set up the ambush properly the T72 at least opens up and yiur inf wont and still be unspotted. In this scenario worst case your T72is still ambushing the Blufor so whatever happens with that happens, and when your orders phase comes up you can unleash your troops, especially if your tank just opened up and the firefight exchange hasnt really begun or you.ll just take off the close cover arcs to begin the ambush. ( i let my men target for themselces except area fire and on map mortars.)
I also never make 1m covered arcs thats insane. I may make them small but never that small thats asking for your men to get gunned down while you rage at the computer. Make sure you remember to give your men a little breathing room to defend themselces and also holding shift while making a covered arc makes it 360 degrees. Very important.

Just started playing The Passage at Wilcox as a PBEM. I have the blue forces. When I read my briefing, the orders are to secure OBJ1, but when I look at the scoring for the objectives, OBJ1, which I assume is the top objective in the list, there is no OBJ 1, just a number. Is Wilcox itself OBJ 1, or is this a bug?

I think there might be some confusion there.  Day at the beach is as far as I know not part of the Marine Campaign.  Day at the beach is a standlone scenario in both CMSF1 and 2.   

Captains NEVER lead the charge. That's what they have Lt. platoon commanders for. Losing a Lt. is no big deal. That's why we have platoon sergeants!
