Urban battles seem to be much more fun and settle with the game better (timeframe) ,at least to me. somehow, specially if you are playing the maps where there are few ww2 buildings and lots of tall new buildings ,it brings new atmosphere ,different from the ww2 one
those stripes on the road or lines are also a huge flavor/immersion factor imo (representing world in 2000+ ad)
it throws you into the world of today where 'fancy' new stuff and sounds of aircraft immerse you into the differnt kind of war
use of engineers or tanks to blow up the walls (tunguska aswell)  also comes to mind
destruction of town (or picture after the battle) is also much more appealing
must admit that i appreciate BS more than before, cos i started playing urban maps

Tldr or suggestion : Play urban maps more  (pbem or multiplayer generally), its fun

too bad there are no civilians, but ok,i guess world is not perfect

rotflmao, just noticed this was tagged "sburke is a fanboy".  way too funny.  And yes I am a fanboy.  Proud of it actually cause CM is a kick a** game.

Random Thought and suggestion Started by Lacroix, Today, 12:48 PM   What is even funnier, is I like the idea, totally in favor of urban battlegrounds.  I do have a large map posted that is mostly hills and open country but does include a small town in it I tried to fill out to look modern.  Still working on what would be a larger city map. sburke is a fanboy

My apologies then, I didn't think you were that sensitive. To be fair though it isn't simply name calling when an expression like that is used for someone who has on 3 occasions (so far) attempted to friend me. After the 2nd time was denied one would have thought you would have gotten the message.  I assumed perhaps incorrectly that this behavior combined with the blatantly passive aggressive nature of your postings was indicative of some sort of psychological need.

Again my apologies if I am simply misunderstanding issues you may have communicating in what I assume is a second language to you.  If that is the case I would suggest maybe taking some time to review the responses you have received as it may be your perception of how one expresses themselves to a native English speaker may be off by a bit.

edit - correction I see you sent a 4th request just now.  Sorry, this one will be denied as well.  You know this is now bordering on stalking.  Maybe I should file a complaint.

2nd edit - wow, really?  You "upped" my post.  That is just a bit too weird you know.

Forget it. Judging by what i have read from you in other threads, i think that your intent is most likely to look up the hardware i bought and then tell me that i either bought it for a bad price or that it' s not good or whatever. And even if you wouldnt find anything, you would probably just make something up. I wont support you trying to piss me off.

And even if the next thing you tell me is that i misjudge you, that' s your problem, i neither trust you nor do i like you, bad luck.

Well, you specificly mentioned the Hide Command, didn´t you?

So why shouldn´t LukeFF be allowed to reply to that part of your comment?

You may have some very valid points and complaints about how CM is working, Wiggum (that is often hard for me to judge). But in my opinion, your very aggressive tone and attitude often disqualifies you from the discussion. Try acting a little more civil - perhaps you'll then get more constructive responses to your complaints.

Ha! Kohl, I was going to post that very picture for you but you beat me to the punch.

    So here you go instread:

Go get Gran Turismo 5 and then you can race the Schwimmwagen all day long. Heck, you can even paint it pink, or silver, or whatever floats your boat (pun intended).

Great looking roads you're making for the Bulge operation.

His new PC is significantly better than his old one in every possible way, he just will have a hard time finding applications that actually need that much calculating power.

Stupid comment, there are numerous applications that require high end hardware that goes way beyond that of the average gaming PC. Think of servers, animated 3D art, brute force attacks, etc...

Yeah, i told him that this is not necessarily going to be cost-effective in terms of performace per euro...but he wanted it anyways! He' s the customer, it' s his money, i had fun building it, no problem.

    Absolutely not!

Depends on what you call high end. I mean, the term "killer high end machine" is already that inaccurate and badly defined, there is really no point in argueing a "killer high end machine" and what' s not. But you could have definately built some above average gaming PCs that run contemporrary games at maxed out settings with reasonable FPS.

Anyways, i dont want your destructive comments in my thread. If you have a bad mood take it somewhere else.

Ah, yes, i had forgotten what it was like with FI and BN.

Now i have a nother question: the upcoming modules will take CMx2 to the end of the war. Will there be Volkssturm* (basically old men and children and occasionally even women) and Luftwaffenhelfer and Hitlerjugend* (both kids in their mid to late teens) militias? Will there be ruined cities so we can properly model, let' s say a Berlin '45 map?

    Volkssturm:

agusto reacted to Juju in [WIP] Juju's TweakedUI v4 (final)
I've finally fully upgraded my CM:BN game and I, naturally, just had to update my UI one final time.
Simply 'updating' got out of hand rather quickly and we're now looking at a complete overhaul to bring the entire UI up to 'Red Thunder UI' standards.

There are still several behind-the-scene elements to tackle, but here's a preview of what's coming (click the pic for the original, much less blurry, image).

By the way, I could still use one more tester! Who's game?

EU has never been the kind of game i am in too. But thank you for reminding me that there are other interesting periods in histroy than WW2 and modern - i had totally forgotten that Atilla: Total War was recently released and i am big fan of the Total War series, so probably i am gonna give it a try. What else could i play? My budgets' s about 100€, and with Atilla costing 39,99€ on Steam, i still have money left for a second or maybe even a 3rd game. GTA V is tempting, but i still havent finished playing GTA IV. Homeworld Remastered (a 2015 remake of the 2003 classic Homeworld 2) is also definately a candidate, i have been waiting for this game for a couple of years, and it costs only 31,99€ on Steam, so there would be still 28,02€ left. Hmmm...any ideas on what i could spend those?

Thanks! And thanks to the others who had kind words too! I totally forgot about that.

I have a small 1 man business where i offer diverse IT services for my customers, and occasionally i build custom machines to the specifications of my customers. Like 4 months ago, i built a PC for a customer with a very large wallet: the budget was 3500€ (~4000$) and i built him a true 1337 machine, using only the best components available on the market. He was so happy with his new PC that he gave me his "old one" as a gift. When he brought me his "old" PC, i only took a quick look inside and i saw some dust, 4 physically small RAM chips, a tiny CPU fan and a graphics card of which i couldnt determine the model because it had its panel ripped off. I thought what i got was the usual used PC: 7 years old, Win XP, 4 x 1GB DDR RAM, Intel Pentium 2, and a GeForce 7000 series graphics card or something like that.

Today i was looking through my stockpile of used PCs because i needed some spare parts, and i took a closer look at the PC i got as a gift 4 months ago. It turned out it' s much better than i thought: 4 x 4 = 16 GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM chips, a 3,5 GHz I-7 2700K with 4 physical cores and 4 virtual cores (8 cores in total), a 750 watt PSU and a GeForce GTX 580. That' s some really good stuff actually. Togather with the mainboard and the tower that' s gaming grade hardware probably worth about 1300€  (1500$) . I would have never bought such expensive components for myself, but i think i will probably add an SSD + a new CPU cooler to the package and use it as my new gaming PC . I am really happy right now, my business isnt going particularily well and i hadnt planned on getting a new PC anytime soon .
