  1. I went to play CMCW this morning and it wouldn't load. In fact, none of my CM games would work. Hadn't touched a thing from last night, but I did notice my computer had rebooted. So I'd click on the CMCW shortcut and the main menu screen would flash up on the screen but then it would go back to the desktop. I knew Microsoft must have pushed an update to Windows 10 last night. Sure enough, they had. Three in fact. So I fixed this in two different ways: 1) I ran the game in compatibility mode for Windows 8. Loaded right up. 2) Uninstalled the latest windows update (Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5005031) to be exact). Everything started working again. Hope this helps! And if anyone has an idea on why this broke the games, please let me know.
  2. I have finally left the 20th Century behind me embraced the 21st instead. This meant upgrading to a more robust gaming PC with a Windows 10 o/s. (@LukeFF would be rightfully bemused that my desktop gaming rig still runs on Windows Vista.) The Luddite in me still enjoys a number of legacy games. I've successfully installed "Call of Duty Game of the Year" (circa 2003) from CD with key without any patches. However, the game fails to run. No errors occur. Changing "compatibility mode" provides no solution. The same holds true for "Call of Duty United Offensive" and "Call of Duty 2". These games run successfully on my WinVista machine though . . . I've done some online research but am leery of the "no CD hacks" solutions. Has anyone in this august company of gamers encountered this (or similar) problems? How can I solve this? Thank you for any and all suggestions.
  3. Hello everybody, So I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, (a long time ago) and I'm told 'License is not for this machine' when I try to start CMSF. When I try to get the license online, it says 'number of uses exceeded' (words to that effect). But the game's not been on more than 2 or 3 successive computers of mine. So, should I uninstall the game and try again, or does it look like I need helpdesk level of assistance for this? Just wanted to ask advice before uninstalling. Any help much appreciated. Want to dust things off and get ready for CMSF2!
  4. Hello: Installing it on a new Asus Zenbook (Windows 10) and get a message saying "Could not initialize Direct3D graphics". Any thoughts? Thanks.
  5. Windows 10 users: It seems that FRAPS is not entirely Windows10 compatible. In my case, it worked once and then fails ever after. Googling an alternative, I came accross BANDICAM; https://www.bandicam.com/fraps-alternative/ and https://www.bandicam.com/support/start2/. I'm favorably impressed so far with their free download version. I have not used the video recording tools yet but taking screenshots is straightforward and created as JPEG (.jpg) files instead of the FRAPS's free version less robust Bitmap (.bmp) files. For those Windows 10 users now in need of a FRAPS alternative, check out and consider Bandicam. Good luck and good gaming.
  6. I'd like to check out Command Ops 2 Core Engine on a Windows 10 o/s. I've installed and run successfully on a legacy Windows Vista desktop machine. From my Win10 machine, I'm having trouble getting a download. Problem seems to be with Lock 'N Load websites. All and any help is welcome. I successfully accessed http://www.panthergames.com/. I click "Buy Now" which took me to https://store.lnlpublishing.com/index.php?route=account/login. It required me to be a registered user. I previously registered as a new user but never received a confirmation email. When I try to login as an existing user it errors out saying "no match" for my userid/password. When I try to register again it says my ID is already taken. I'd log a support ticket for UserID/password help but this site requires that you need to login before you can create a ticket! Any suggestions on how to "purchase" for free and download? Also, is Command Ops 2 even playable on Windows 10? Thanks for any help.
  7. I made some small edits to the 1939 campaign and saved it under a new name. The saved file (.cgn) is listed in the same directory as the Battlefront supplied games. A new directory was created as well when I saved the game. However, it doesn't show up as a game in the game listing and I can't play it. Any ideas? For those reading this and wondering whether the game is compatible with Windows 10 - It is - it's worked flawlessly. However, you MUST to install the latest patch. (it's a great game!!!)
