It's Sunday morning, and the church bells are ringing. Crommers is performing his morning ritual when suddenly there is a BANG BANG BANG on the privy door.
Elizabeth :- "Are you reading the devil's comic again in there?"
Crommers :- "Oh no, my sweet. I'm reading the Lord's Holy Bible. The Book of Omar, and the Battle of Normandy."
Elizabeth :- "I don't know that one, Wartface."
Crommers :- "Oops, I meant the Book of Joshua, and the Battle of Jehrico."

I think there is an excellent case for including French, Germans, Polish, British, Baltic States, Netherlands, Belgians and Canadians on the NATO side. Also Belorussia for the Russians. More than happy to buy DLCs for all of the above. For the French contingent the Foreign Legion will have to be present for obvious reasons!
Likely however the Marines will be arriving before any of the above. Semper Fi!

Just seen this incoming book from Osprey Publishing:
    https://ospreypublishing.com/store/military-history/upcoming-books/preorder-2-months/atlas-of-the-european-campaign
In June 1944 the Allies opened the long-awaited second front against Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, and this was to be the start of a long struggle throughout Western Europe for the Allied forces in the face of stiff German resistance.
The European Theatre was where the bulk of the Allied forces were committed in the struggle against Nazi Germany. It saw some of the most famous battles and operations of the war - Normandy, Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge - as the Allies sought to liberate Western Europe in the face of bitter and hard-fought German resistance. From the beaches of D-Day through to the final battles in war-ravaged Germany, the war across the breadth and depth of Western Europe is brought to life through scores of carefully researched and intricately detailed maps.
If it may help people for map design.   Cheers

You could do that as well, but you should know that a lot of people here are "realism junkies", myself included. Not against hypothetical battles at all, but a book full of maps depicting battles suitable for scenario making makes me salivate atleast.

One of the cool things about this game and this community is there are so many perspectives and ways to enjoy it.  I think I have only really seen this in RPG stuff. Rock on @Bud Backer

I agree, even my less elaborate graphics require quite a few hours of work to produce.

I've only done the one because frankly, they are very time consuming to develop.. they aren't simple screen captures, I could spend a few hours on one panel, hand painting, arranging figures from multiple screen grabs together (the leaders around the jeep scene is an example).  I did enjoy doing the one I did and who knows, maybe someday I'll do another.

So some of you may wonder what’s the story behind the story here.
This is a PBEM game against a friend of mine. One who loves infantry as much as I love armour. In countless battles, he’s always been a step or three ahead of me when it comes to using infantry. I’d win often enough, but that’s because I had armour to compensate. Despite our fairly equal win-lose ratios, I really wanted to up my skill with infantry. So I’ve been reading infantry tactics, studying @Bil Hardenberger‘s fantastic blog (link in his signature) and generally giving a lot more thought to what I do with these little pixeltruppen.
To test this, my friend and I devised a challenge for me. Crossing a defended line with limited access points. This map, which you can largely see in the first post, has only a bridge and a ford to get to the other side. My mission: take the bridge. Nothing else matters.
To accomplish my mission, I was restricted to only what infantry can carry. No heavy weapons. No artillery. Not even on map mortars. My points outnumber his 2.2:1. Sounds easy, right?
What flowed from that was a small scenario, which makes it ideal for a CAAR. Less things to capture and turn into a comic. Then I decided to go with another idea. Rather than tell the tale of the whole battle, I was going to show you the story of just one platoon. The platoon that was going to take the ford.
    And here we are...

I love these comparisons to show how close to reality it's possible to get in the game.
The only thing I could point out in this one was that the buildings on the right are at an angle in real life, and this could be achieved in the editor too.
Oh, and one more thing: The building with the big white gate has been represented by a barn in the game, because it also has a similar gate. However, that makes it really poor cover, whereas the real building looks very sturdy.

I have taken the plunge into trying CMBS mods. I decided that I want to try something that nobody is really doing. Using the tools provided with the game, and the plugin for Blender created by sbobovyc my intent is to try and upgrade some of the models that you see in the game. To start this off, I decided to upgrade the pouches and gear that are found on US troops. I'm still learning, so forgive the rather amateur models. I didn't want to put a ton of detail into them, but maintain the same level that Battlefront as set forth to us.

I will attempt to make a slightly more modernized chestrig, featuring a couple more pouches than what is found on current infantry. It will be based off the default chestrig simply to get the correct curvature of the soldier.

Here I have decided to try and create a PRC-117G to replace the default RTO bag. The smaller size of that version is a little lighter than the one that is featured. In addition you won't normally find the sat antenna, but typically a whip.

Any suggestions or input are welcome. I'm absolutely terrible at texturing, so if anyone wants to help in that regards it would be greatly appreciated.

And that attitude is why Steve is afraid to even enter the Beta penthouse when the parties are going on. You've got IanL standing out front, arms crossed, chest pumped out, saying, "None shall pass!"
I've tried to bring about change, but I'm afraid my efforts were far too meek.

Do as I'm going to do now. Unfollow all this and forget about it for a while. Sick and tired of it.
It will come sooner or later.
