  1. Just playing through The Scottish Corridor Campaign.Top notch campaign but god is it brutal. One thing i noticed is how many times a bren goes through different hands in a battle.During the first couple of battles, i was always cursing at the amount of times my bren gunners would die.I soon realised they were always being picked up by someone by the next turn.Without them in that Campaign, you're screwed.Yeah it's a nice ingame touch.
  2. This really, really needs a hotfix. It's a total pain in the arse and gamebreaking at times.
  3. Just a quick question.Had a truck load of mods loaded for v.1 engine but took a lot of them out when i upgraded.Basically do uniform mods still work with the upgrade or are there issues.Just want to be on the safe side before i fire any into my Z folder.
  4. Hey bud,CM has never been very user friendly,The learning curve is huge and very very steep.Once you get to grips with the game and how it works, the game is a buzz,There's a load of stuff on utube-AARs,a two hour tutorial, game features and tactics etc etc. These games are one of,if not the best of it's genre.Time and patience, patience and more patience are required with the gameplay in these titles.Like i say check utube out there's a wad of stuff on there.
  5. I loaded up CMSF and all modules to see how it would run,i'm having some minor issues with the WW2 titles. Before i knew it i had downloaded all the old mods from the repository and got stuck into it.Truly an epic game.Okay you have to work for a result in CMBN and FI whereas sometimes CMSF is a walk in the park. The firepower you have at your exposal in this game is just awesome and as a result the game is just so much fun. Not saying the WW2 titles aren't fun, they are excellent.Just with CMSF once your guys begin to roll. They really do Rock'n'Roll. Oh yeah sneaky ATGMs hiding everywhere eh,eh,eh?WELL EAT THIS! Pure class
  6. Yeah AVG doesn't like CMSF.I had a nightmare with mine.I had CMSF and all three modules and for some reason AVG would pick out the Brit Module.exe and quarantine it every time i tried to run the game.Absolute pain in the butt. Solution bye bye AVG,hello Avast.
  7. I was playing on the second scenario of Allies Campaign. Finally got up that bastard of a hill and setting about the first bunker whilst behind it.TC takes 9 turns to take it out from the back, using up all its ammo with a whole platoon on overwatch. Finally the bunker is knocked out and out pop 3 scouts with mp 40s and grenade the TC,killing everyone bar the driver and then set about routing the entire platoon. Those guys just wouldn't die.Terminators on Acid.Cue rage quit
  8. Hey Ithikial never mnd mucking about with silly charts.Where the hell is part 7 of Operation Bluecoat
  9. I appreciate the help also. Not really computer savvy but know how to use it now.The Optional terrain mod is a must have for me but i also like using the water tiles for marsh.Have now done a mix and match for both.Much obliged guys
  10. The LOS takes a bit of getting used to but it works well.As already mentioned leave them where they are for a turn or two and they'll spot.Sometimes if you look close they'll be prone thus they can't see but then you 'll see one pop his head up for a quick look.A tip as well, put a small covered arc on your scouts because if they do spot targets, they'll engage and give their postions away.
  11. Good point.Never thought of Scenario make up.It does happen a lot in the original early scenarios for CMBN,not so much in CW or FI.
  12. Just remember to throw a few saves in during gameplay.I'm having slight issues with CMBN and CMFI with the odd freeze,alt-tabbing sorts it but i do get the occasional crash.I now save games mid-way through just to be on the safe side.
  13. I replayed a scenario the other day and had a platoon obviously observed in woods and had spotting rounds coming down. Now behind the woods was a large field away from LOS and another large field over the road on the left,so over the next 3 to 4 moves i moved my guys way back and eventually way over to the next field. So down the comes the arty and quite literally over the next four moves the arty followed my guys to wherever i put them.Even if the AI had LOS which once my guys were moved back,it wouldn't have.It should have still taken a few minutes for adjustment of fire. Into the bargain, arty fell on whoever these guys passed, mortars, jeeps, etc. It's as if the arty was stuck to their backs.Nearly rage quit lol.The scenario was "Bloody Dawn" i think. I struggle to put arty down when i have LOS half the time whereas the AI can put it down where and when the **** it likes.I've seen this numerous times in scenarios.Even if you see the spotting rounds and even if you could move your troops two miles away,9 times out of ten-it'd still land right in your lap.
  14. Wego only.Tried RT once a real headache on Larger battles.Mind you,i believe there's a pause option for RT in the new V.2.0 but you can't beat Wego.Old habits die hard.
  15. Was going to try and confuse the issue and use dog years and realised i'd be 329-to hell with it,i'll stick with 47.
  16. Nice little scenario that can go to the wire.Think you do have to kill the Tiger. There are support units down near the bridge and a few that arrive half way through the scenario.Think you might have to deal with those also to get the full win.Using your guys to spot them without the Tiger seeing you and then taking them out is the trick i think.
  17. Rarely comment in these threads. Now i'm here, where's the bar.
  18. Now CMSF was unplayable on day one and this did take a few patches to get perfect but ended up a classic.CMBN unplayable and bug ridden on day one?No i don't think so,bugs and issues yeah but perfectly playable and enjoyable.Even better with each patch and the new upgrade.
  19. Beyond the Belice is a nice easy start, some of the others can be tricky. When fighting the Italians watch out for their mortars, they can only fire directly and when they do,they're brutal. If you get LOS on one, take it out before anything else.
  20. Only just got round to purchasing v2.0 and still going through scenarios but have noticed the larger battles on the CW module are now a lot quicker at loading and the blue bar moves a lot quicker too.At last i can play these battles without having a book to read between moves.Absolutely delighted.
  21. What i love about this forum. If your critical of the game you get pounced on and if you praise the game, you know nothing. Please note we don't all buy the product at the same time. Some are new to the game and some are new to the upgrade or patches. So though late more so than the hardcore on these forums, some of us are still free to comment. How does it go..........if you don't like it........don't buy it
  22. All down to taste. The original is perfectly playable and the upgrade isn't a necessity.I bought CMFI and found myself playing that more because of the upgrade and have only just bought v.2 for CMBN and am looking forward to playing through all the scenarios again. The upgrade isn't a huge advancement, more subtle than anything but for me after playing CMFI,i couldn't play CMBN until the upgrade came out.I'm one happy bunny now.
  23. Just some stats about American tankers: The crew carried the M-1927 .45 Thompson submachine gun, later crews were issued the M-1 .45 Thompson or the M-1 .45 Grease gun, and the special model of the M-1 Garand semi-auto, short-barreled .30-06 rifle known as the Tanker Model. Tankers also carried the Mk I and Mk II hand gernades, known as the pineapple grenade and smoke grenade. Every crew made sure they had plenty of ammo, food, water, fuel and oil and anything else that could be useful. To get back to the original point.Gamewise i've had squads severely depleted or even completely taken out by these pistol bearing SOBs.If they were carrying the above,i could live with that but a couple of guys with handguns, gimme a break.Totally OP in the game, end of story.
