Beware CMBN CW it is pretty rubbish folks
Brindlewolf replied to novice's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
When it comes to the patch 1.11 make sure you tick the box that says patch CMBN +CW also,or that will cause issues.Something i didn't do correctly before. -

Like i said do a fresh clean install of the whole thing including CMBN.If you don't have mods don't worry about it.You could even have a corrupt download. -

Do a clean fresh install from scratch, remove any mods from the BF file where the game file (or save somewhere and put back in later).CMBN,CW module which will take your game to version1.10 then add the 1.11 patch.Hey Presto you're good to go. -
Ubercats 2nd Newbie thread
Brindlewolf replied to Ubercat's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I played through the Engel campaign the other week and i can say i had the same issues with the AT gun setting up.Mgs and mortars are all fine now.Still a bug or two there with ATs possibly. After the first scenario,i never bothered with it for the rest of the campaign unless it was already set-up.Mind you, with the fire power you have later it isn't needed. -

BFC, Request for 3-inch AT ammo change
Brindlewolf replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
There's a scenario in PT's Scottish Corridor where you come up against some KTs and Panthers.Plenty of AT guns in that scenario alright. You won't be worrying what ammo you have in that scenario though-infact,you won't have your guns or armor for long at all.Definately a 'beam me up Scotty' scenario that one -
Watched the trailer and that thing that put me off right away was, everyone's spotless. Not one dirty, clatty face or dusty, muddy uniform. One of the biggest hellholes of destruction in the history of warfare and everyone's gleaming. "We're to take the factory, cool,be right with you.Just having a ****,a shower and a shave.Anyone got any deodorant?"

Elite is now my first choice for skill level
Brindlewolf replied to A Canadian Cat's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
I always play in WEGO bud.Kept my armour in the woods also.Took out the Allied tanks.Ironically my AA vehicle arrived and then there was the sound of aircraft shortly afterwards. The Jabo took out my AA vehicle did a few strafing runs(i think) and buggered off.Once the allied AA was down,i took that hill for overwatch and then took down every building at the crossroads with the Brummbars. The ruins were a bit of an issue though for the in street fighting.A village version of Stalingrad ensued -
Elite is now my first choice for skill level
Brindlewolf replied to A Canadian Cat's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Just tried Elite on the Bear Claws scenario.Massive firepower but the surprise came when my Grens got to the actual crossroads.Lots of minor scuffles with units whose composition i couldn't tell.A few bloody noses on my side.On my usual Veteran mode i would have just mopped up for the endgame.I lost quite a few guys by being over confident.Cheers for the heads up.Elite mode for me from here on in -
A Short AAR: Panzers Marsch!
Brindlewolf replied to lurrp's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Agreed could have been a great campaign and though fun,the times given on some scenarios spoilt it a bit for me. Have a good one on the AAR though, look forward to seeing how you fair. -
Finally got my hands on GL and having a ball with it.Now have Troina v2 and looking forward to using it.Just going through the FJ campaign at the moment so will do Troina v2 afterwards.Grand job on this module, love the short campaigns concept. Thanks for the update on Troina.Much appreciated.

Kampfgruppe Engel, The king Tiger Mission
Brindlewolf replied to slysniper's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
You'll get full replacements of ammo, infantry and vehicles in the next mission(mission 4).There'll be no replacements or ammo until mission six though after this,so be mindful of how you go.Check the briefings for arty ammo.Just a tip for mission 4 without giving anything away, make sure your tanks don't use up all their HE taking out strays, you'll know what i mean when the time comes.Good luck and have fun -
Like a lovely chocolate box but who the hell's ate all the Turkish Delights!

LOL Epic -
I would give the game a chance.Gameplay is what's important with CM not so much the eye candy.Invest a few hours in the game and you'll find out tactics are quite crucial. This game is the best in it's genre. I wouldn't knock the guys that do all the scenarios and campaigns,a lot of these guys do this purely out of love for the game and the era.A lot of hardwork and freetime is put in by a lot of these guys and most of the stuff they produce is top notch.A lot of the single player stuff is also replayable due to different ai plans put in by the scenario makers, again time consuming to make. This game is truly hardcore and top of it's league. You'll either love it in which case your hooked and no other game will come close or you'll simply hate it.There's mods galore for this game also to change appearance, sounds, map textures etc etc.Eye candy this game isn't but then i don't think it was ever supposed to be. Simply put-give it chance

BFC, Request for 3-inch AT ammo change
Brindlewolf replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Well to be fair this game is a simulation. The game chooses what tank ammo is appropriate.Yes some of the armour ingame has some different AP shot but not many anyway. Here is an example i do all the time.My Infantry spot a tank behind a barn or building.Fine now i'll bring some of my armour forward to deal with it while it stays hidden. In a RL situation you would put AP through the building, which in reality would go straight through and hopefully with a bit of luck hit its target. In CM,your tanks fire HE because all the game sees is a building and it'll take 5 mins or more for the buiding to collapse-if at all-for your tanks to then engage. So in reality i want AP,ingame i get HE.Thats just the way it goes. When it comes to armour and vehicles i'm sure the game does the same.I've seen it fire HE at half tracks other times AP,tanks it'll choose whatever it warrants or has.Be nice to have a choice as in the building example but it's no big deal really. -
Single player , turn based or real time?
Brindlewolf replied to evo6tme's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Vinnie just a quick question, does your icons mod work with CW installed also.I like the red for Germans thats mainly what i'm after.Looks a good mod. -
Great fun campaign, just played through it myself.Without giving anything away,i struggled on the penultimate scenario, couldn't get anything better than a draw.Really well thought out campaign though, good luck and have fun with it.

No worries ND,i'll get back to that campaign sometime.Looking forward to GL,all will be resolved then

Axis HMG Deployment Time Variance
Brindlewolf replied to sleepercell's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
There's still an occasional bug with deployment of AT guns also.Just replayed KG Engel with the upgrade. What a nightmare in the first two scenarios trying to get that to set up.For the rest of the campaign i just never bothered with it due to the armour available but even so.Never had a big issue with mgs or mortars since the fix though. -
Ah Ha.That's what i thought.Much appreciated.I will be purchasing GL sometime this week anyway but thanks again.A module which includes FJs is just too good to pass up

I totally agree,i love reading the threads in these forums but in JKs case my point is is this.If he has something to say regarding the thread keep it simple and comment by all means. If on the other hand he wants to start giving out endless anecdotes, quotes, references etc.Why the hell doesn't he start his own threads instead of hijacking other peoples.Pure and simple. For the record.someone stated i'm a noob on here.Far from it i've been lurking in the shadows since 2002.Under various guises. So carry on John by all means but how about starting your own threads rather than deviating other peoples. To stay on topic.Where are the Brit long johns and string vests.
