  1. Now, that I have the feeling, CM is coming home, I am anxious to see wether there will be more usermade campaigns in the future. I hope, designers like Papertiger, George MC, FMB and others will create some. And may be, some new talented guys will surprise us with their work? So, is there anything in work up to now? Regards Frank
  2. Only 20 - 30% of knocked out tanks in WWII were total losses...in many cases, they only had to repair some small damages and to clean everything from blood and parts of human bodies and to put in a new crew... Regards Frank
  3. You are right, it couldn´t be a Bofors AA Gun - these were of 40mm calibre. What he meant, was the American M1 90mm gun. This weapon was actually part of the lend and lease material. I took a look at some of my books today and found an example: On August, 12th 1943, the Tiger 913 (SS-Unterscharführer Fein) was completely destroyed by an Soviet 90mm AT Gun of American origin - the whole crew except for one man burned to death inside the wreck, this one, Franz Hofer, died later the day as a result of his heavy injuries (source: Schneider, "The Tigers of SS-Panzer-Division Totenkopf"). There are two pictures of the tank but unfortunately I am not able to upload them. Regards Frank
  4. Normally, an AT-rifle should at least be able to destroy the connection of the single parts of the track - and so, to immobilize the tank... Regards Frank
  5. Some guys here are discussing, if especially the German Tanks in RT would be to weak in comparison to their Soviet opponents. Some years ago, I had an interesting conversation with an old man, who had been a commander of a Tiger I in 1943 - 1944. I asked him, what he feared mostly for, when they were in combat and his answer was (with regard to CMRT) amazing: 1. the Soviet 90mm AA Gun (I think it was a lend and lease type of the Swedish Bofors?), which was responsible for some total losses with the whole crew KIA. 2. Soviet AT rifles In RT, you can only hope to damage a Tiger with such a weapon by immobilizing it or kill the commander, if he is unbuttoned. In reality, the Soviet Soldiers were ordered to shot at the commander´s cupola (is it the right word for this?). That way, not a few German Tiger-Commanders were blinded or eaven beheaded, when the weak cupola was blast away  So, we can be relieved - in RT, this is impossible Or am I wrong? Regards Frank
  6. It was, if I remember correctly, Guderian, who said: " At the beginning of the war, we (the Germans) had the worst tanks with the best crews - at the end, we had the best tanks with the worst crews." :-) Regards Frank
  7. Sorry for my impatience - but will the next module for RT include the Waffen-SS ? I have begun creating some stuff about the "Totenkopf" - that´s the reason for my question. Regards Frank
  8. Almost always playing the Axis because my grandfathers both did, too Regards Frank
  9. I agree with that...these bastards in Santa Maria really seem to fight to a man...imagine, they would be experienced troops of high quality... Not sure why, but obviously Italians love to have firefights in narrow streets Hope for you, that the battle-ship FO will survive...I think, 406mm guns should bring silence to the battlefield Regards Frank
  10. Blow them up Jaeger Jonzo While waiting for Red Thunder, I am playing some of my own stuff - and at the Moment, I try to capture Santa Maria, too - beeing surprised of the deadly Italian AT-guns Also, I have lost my forward observer team (the guys from the HMS Rodney) caused by infantry gun fire Regards Frank
  11. I think the problem with using halftracks in a historically correct way is the distances, most CM-Scenarios are offering to the player. The doctrine of using them to bring infantry directly to the battlefield and to take the HT for fast and agressive attacks is right ---- but, in reality, the so called battlefield includes a territory of some squaremiles, while in CM most battles are made for distances smaller than 1500m. So, the actual attack on a target in reality is starting from a much longer distance than suggested in CM. This means, attacking HTs, bringing infantry about 2km near the target, will play an important role on the real battlefield (for example with direct fire support) and there´s not too much risk for them to become victims of enemy AT activity. However, in CM these vehicles are used to bring their passengers into target distances of less than 1000m and this makes such runs as deadly as they usually are my two Cents Regards Frank
  12. Oh, I forgot - there´s a very good combat history of the German 4. Panzer-Division, which took also part in the fightings around Bagration. Regards Frank
  13. As a German, I am very glad to hear such a compliment from a British Player Thanks Jaeger Jonzo! Regards Frank
  14. I have got almost all literature about the 3.SS-Panzer-Division, including many many small unit action - the Division arrived at the theatre of Army Group Centre in late July 1944 when it took place around the battle for Grodno. But the SS won´t be part of the first module, so I have to be patient Regards Frank
  15. No idea Erwin. But I think, these videos are some of the best, I have ever seen for CM. Too sad, that this guy obviously didn´t make more - last release was June 2013 May be, he´s a member of the battlefront-forum, too? Regards Frank
  16. Hey, a Long time after the release of this campaign, I have found an very interesting video on YouTube, made by a guy named Poopjaeger. Search under "Zawiya Uprising Mission" and you will have fun Regards Frank
  17. Thanks for your comments I am glad, if you have some fun with the campaign. @ sigop22: I am confused, too - normally you should get at least a victory, if you have captured the v-zones + killed most of the Italians...even, if you have got high own casualties...strange result... @Jack Ration: Normally, there should be no problem with the FO to call in the naval support. But during the first and the third Mission, you will get the battleship-artillery as reinforcement - so, your FO has to be patient until he is free to destroy the nice Sicilian Landscape Regards Frank
  18. Hey Umlaut, the whole thing seems to be like talking to a wall - you will hardly get any reaction from the community. I have made three campaigns (for CMBN, CMSF and CMFI), so I am able to know the effort, one has to put in such work - and 50% of the few comments, I got, have been negative At the moment, my campaigns all together have been downloaded > 1600 times - result: less than 16 comments - less than 1% of the users...so, following the theory, I have read in the other thread, they must be bad That´s it. I will go on making campaigns and do not care about their statistics and one day in the future, I may decide to buy the BF Company and to hire a professional team of Scenario/campaign designers Regards Frank
  19. The German Panzer-Division "Clausewitz" used 2 to 3 IR-Panthers in one of its battlegroups, while attacking the US near Uelzen in late April 1945. These Panthers were able to destroy a number of US AT-guns with very exactly fire during the night-fighting (from the book: "The last front at the Elbe-River"). Regards Frank
  20. Anybody, who finished the campaign and destroyed the resistance of the Italians in Santa Maria? Regards Frank
  21. Give him the Iron Cross - that´s what Steiner is searching for
  22. I think, it will be no problem for BF, to improve the graphics of CM during the next years by upgrading the series. But could it be possible (with the CM2 engine) to create real 3D airplanes? Regards Frank
  23. Nobody is able to hear a "click" from a mine, placed 10-20cm under water and stop moving...everything, one in this situation probably will hear, is the choir of the angels Regards Frank
  24. @Childress: Sorry, but I don´t understand - click heels ?
