Quick update from me. I am moved into my new place. By moved in, I mean we are all here and there are beds setup and lanes between the boxes to move around I am sitting (you are right I should be unpacking) here waiting for technicians to arrive to install some plumbing required appliances and my network panel needs some sorting. So, I am still not in shape to play at the moment even though Bud is back up and running and sent me a turn. Stay tuned and the fun will resume shortly.

Tanks only covered arc.

This is the better way to go. Even better just have the game realize that two way points are on roads and automatically favour staying on the road net to go between. Then there isn't even a need for a separate command. -

Rediscovered for the first time. I remember when the fist post about stars showed up after CMBN came out (I wasn't around for CMSF). It was a cool moment. Really sold me on how awesome this game is. Yes, I know it has nothing to do with game play but is is really cool. -
Yes, one of the patches for CMRT caused saves and PBEM files to not move forward. Bummer but it happens. If you want to finish the game you can install the older game along side the new one. Just make sure you point the install program to a different location on your HD.

how to get M10 to shoot its .50

Yes, I believe so. They need to be unbuttoned. Be aware whom ever you are backing towards has every right to shoot at you though.... -

They will. I tested it myself: They do it on their own. So they need to be in a position where they are busy with important stuff forwards and the spot and are threatened from behind. -
Balanced Battle for H2H
A Canadian Cat replied to AlessandroW's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
One thing you can look at is the win % column on theBlitz's scenario list: http://www.theblitz.org/scenarios/combat-mission-final-blitzkrieg/b-15.htm?action=scenarios&game=184 Those are all head to head games and you can find which scenarios are lopsided and which are fairly balanced. These are typically PBEM games so it takes a while for numbers to be accumulated. I would be wary of making a judgment based on a result that only has a handful of games. -

Mocking you? I am mocking me. I go to this thread every day, looking at entrails. You speak with angels? -- can you ask them to put hair back on the top my head? Gets cold on top in the winter. Hilarious guys. -

But how would you copy the commands from one vehicle to another and have the points all line up the same way on the road? Would you just have the game automatically generate a way point from the second vehicle to the location where the first vehicle was and then copy the rest? What are the chances that would be satisfying? There are a ton of issues and questions to deal with. Starting with what are you actually trying to accomplish? If you are trying to create a convoy command then wouldn't it be better to have the vehicles actually follow the roads themselves? That would be way more powerful. If you are trying to allow formation movement then follow is not what you really want to call it and copying the movement orders might actually be just perfect (have the orders start relative to the end of any existing move orders). But then that might not actually be so hot because if you have a true formation then you want the following vehicles to take queues from the lead vehicle and not just blunder along when it stops. -

Yep. Don't get me wrong I think the cool stuff going on here is just that cool. What I don't want is things being opened up so that people can change the behaviour of things to their arbitrary liking and having that effect the game play for other people. So, I'm good.:D -
Speaking of tech tips... do you have your anti virus on during the installs can you exclude the game install dir from your anti virus? If the anti virus is stopping the install from setting everything up it may also mess with the game running. I know mine does which is why all my BFC games are in a folder that is excluded from virus checking.

This will work: From the link Special Upgrade 4 Tech Tips from the top of this page. I knew I had seen instructions for that before.

Tanks only covered arc.

So, you are allowed to express your opinion but I'm not? Joking aside this forum is for discussions and if you post you can expect some actual discussion. So in that vein: Follow command I would love to have. That would be so nice. I'd like it added to the AI scripting too. I was never really a huge fan of the cover arc any way so I did not think we needed the armour arc. I do occasionally use it to keep tanks from getting distracted by infantry but even then not really that often. So, I could still happily live without it. As for more. I see no value. What value is there in having tanks not shoot at IFVs but only shoot at tanks? That sounds like a bad idea especially in a modern context. Ammo levelling - pass thanks. Armour vehicles would not be doing that on the battlefield. Infantry already have sources for acquiring new ammo. So, no need for the command. I do not think that adding commands is a method for depth to the game. It will add complexity to the UI. Because of that we should think long and hard before adding more commands because they come at a cost. -
I wouldn't. I would much rather get chastised for not communicating than communicating and end up being wrong. But that's just me.

Tanks only covered arc.
A Canadian Cat replied to weapon2010's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
?? There is an armour only cover arc. Are you aware of that and just asking for more specific commands? If not 'M' is the short cut IIRC. If yes then - yuck - don't need more commands -
CMx2 WWII? Scenarios & Quick Battles?
A Canadian Cat replied to markshot's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
LOL awesome - I find my self driving around the country side planning how to take the next field. I wish I had known about CMBO in 2000. I only found out about these games in 2011. I would have been playing for 11 additional years if I had known -
If this is a PC then there should have been a shortcut created in the program group called Activate - that's it. If this is a Mac I have no idea. The place to ask the experts if the above doesn't help is here: Battlefront Help desk

For sure. And then they did it again and put reporting capabilities into the hands of end users. No programming required to get a new report. I was part of that process. Of course we hit lots of challenges because the average business user doesn't know SQL but that was what our tool (Impromptu) supported. Fun times, successful product, lots of challenging work. -

Whewww glad to hear. The CEO at the time would never have allowed Cognos to be involved in something questionable if he knew about it. At least that was my experience. Cognos was my first job. I agree about working for a good person. My first manager was great too - I didn't have multiple offers to consider so I was somewhat lucky in that regard. But hey luck counts. -

^^ agreed. It is highly recommended to come down from the 100ft view and watch some of the action unfold. I usually watch the whole turn from higher up to see where things are hot and where they are quiet. Then I'll make a mental note of where I want to follow closer and re-watch the turn multiple times for each of those cases up close and personal. Often with vehicles I'll select them and use the <tab> key to follow the unit. If you leave it selected you can see the enemy it sees pop into and out of view. If you click once away from the unit the camera will still stay locked on the unit but you will have the combined view of the battlefield. With vehicles I usually do this at camera level 2 and with infantry same or sometimes even camera level 1. You can use the 'Q' and 'E' keys or the left and right arrow keys to turn the camera without breaking the camera follow. Then you will see this great stuff unfolding. You might also see some goofy stuff to but focus on the good stuff -

A Canadian Cat replied to Bulletpoint's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
You know I never noticed up and down windshields really but now that you mention it there are some with it up and some with it down. Is that random? Sadly I'll have to put this on my list of stuff to get to when I have free time - hence my ask for someone else to create a test.
