For those wanting more content, feel free to jump into the editor and build some new scenarios for the community.  Trust me there is nothing special that the CM Betas get that you don't when it comes to the editor. The unit editor is already incredibly powerful if you know how to use it. Oh and it's part of the package if you've already bought the game.
For those wanting fantasy weapons and a vehicles like tanks with automatic 120mm cannons, I reckon you'd love it for about 15 minutes before the novelty wore off and you never used the content again. There's a reason WW2 remains a popular time period for wargamers after all this time, and it isn't because of questions like: "What if the Panzer VIII Maus was deployed in 1945?"
Can vouch for each of those guys listed and the effort they put into creating official content, I'm desperately trying to scramble to keep up with that standard. I still bow in awe at benpark and his effort to recreate 1945 central Berlin. The research undertaken to try make the most accurate recreation of historical engagements and help out in designing accurate TOE/OOB is in my mind second to none among the BFC official staff and the wider volunteer circle.
Want an example? A small tidbit from my own work last Friday night. I've been recreating an engagement that includes the US 2nd Armored Division and been drawing from various historical and printed sources. Well I stumbled across digital scans of the divisional day by day reports and hand drawn maps of unit movements from June 1944. What was there was information that went against what was printed in some major history books by some big name historians. Though it was clear where the confusion over the years has come from given certain 2nd Armored battalions were detached from the Division in early June. Well this discovery slowed down putting the scenario together as it required me to go and edit my unit files and swap formations to ensure the scenario you play is the most historically accurate as possible.
Finally, keep in mind that many of us have day jobs so working on CM content is on the side of "paying the bills"* and because we have a passion for wargaming, CM and most importantly history.
    * Feel free to send next weeks winning lottery numbers my way.

As in entirely fictional and man made. There is no natural environment construct that would drive Russians and Ukraines to kill each other - we (mankind) artificially created it essentially out of nothing accept our imaginations and emotions.  War itself creates a very real artificial physical environment and applies direct evolutionary pressure - see Kilcullen’s weak spin on this - https://academic.oup.com/book/33631/chapter-abstract/288151079?redirectedFrom=fulltext&login=false but the underlying premise is solid in how we observed terror organizations evolve over 20 years. The real question is how does the impact of these punctuated constructed environments have on us over time?
Or as you point out - “how long does is stick?”  Very good question.  One could argue a single wars effects are accelerating but limited to perhaps a generation or two.  However we see. To have been doing this at scale for quite awhile:

This one does not show Mongols and Crusades, nor Three Kingdoms wars - which were some of the largest per capita impact wars in history.  The point being how does 5 thousand years of big wars and maybe 100k years of micro-wars effect human beings at a genetic level?  Social? Cultural?
Does the acceleration effect stack up over time?  What is interesting about that graphic is that wars appear to almost be 1) continuous as small, and 2) cyclical - almost by generations, for the large.  Have we changed how we reproduce as a result?  We have definitely changed how we access energy from the environment to do this better…again all artificial self-inflicted pressure.
Unlike beavers who do shape their environment directly - war creates an artificial environment to shape its creators.  It has propelled us on many levels.
I have read that one along with The Third Chimpanzee and Collapse.  Harari as well.  For a really grounded look at pre-historic warfare, to see just how far it’s impact reaches, read (if you have not already) Lawrence Keely’s War Before Civilization and Azar Gat’s War in Human Civilization - and even give old John Keegan’s A History of Warfare a go.
There is surprisingly little on pre-historic warfare and it’s potential impact on humanity.
I think the effects of war go beyond the death count and direct selective pressure.  One could argue its effects in this arena occurred when our populations were very small.  I think the effects of wide scale trauma, social and cultural pressures has driven us far further and faster as a species, even down to the genetic level, than it would have without it.  The big question to my mind is “do we own the process or does the process own us” with respect to warfare - and the jury is very much out on this one.

Ithikial_AU reacted to RockinHarry in Question about infantry animation files
With CMRT battle pack now released and after reading @George MC ´s excellent  CM Panzergrenadier handbook from here...
...I came to think about some the games known idiosyncrasies. While the TacAI´s behaviors can´t be changed or altered, at least some the cover related things can. I loaded up CMRT´s SdKfz251/1 D model into Blender and bits of altered the crew members placements (excl. driver and radio operator) . That for better cover/protection when vehicle and grenadiers are not in "open up" state.
Secondly I used parts of my infantry animation mod to enforce the Panzergrenadiers always using kneel stance when firing and reloading handguns, while beeing in the vehicle and "open up".
Since it´s just a test I did the animation file swap just on the Kar98k guys. Anyway, the game doesn´t allow any lMG gunner to stand up and shoot across the vehicles board wall plate. Other weapon carriers (like MP40, Stg44 etc) are still uneffected in this little test mod.
So this is how it looks like with and without the tweaks.
Seated Grenadier footprint with default CM placements.

    With tweaked positioning.

Default CM Grenadier shooting and reloading stances.

Kneel stance enforcement through animation file swap.

Also tried a different MG gunner animation file.
    CM default.

    Swapped for BS M320 rifleman.

    and some inspirational footage

If you like testing these tweaks in your CMRT game, unzip the file into your data/z folder as usual.

The single biggest roadblock to using CM in a larger campaign context is that making maps takes a lot of time and even more effort. If maps could be generated in a reasonable amount of time (say, a single sitting or two) then you could run decent linked battle campaigns without any other tweaks. The main bottleneck is the scenario editor.
Being able to edit battlefields would be great as well. Carrying over battle damage, or just continuing a fight on the same map with fresh forces would be nice.

Ithikial_AU got a reaction from Chibot Mk IX in Pz.III M Availability
This was a fun one during Fire and Rubble's development. Panzer III's weren't widespread across the front line and didn't find themselves in the standard Panzer units after the Battle of Kursk, but the crisis for the Germans at the end of summer '44 meant anything with tracks and a gun was being hastily thrown into the line where possible. This included a number of PzIII's from training depots that were sent north to help try to break through to the trapped Army Group North in Operation Doppelkopf.
In game, the Panzer III models were available before this from CMFI and I was asking for the PzIII's to be included in some capacity into the module for my Battle of Tukums campaign to be more historically accurate. My campaign needed to to recreate SS Panzer Brigade Gross, which was changing it's tank makeup daily at times as it tried break the Soviet lines in the Baltics. BF created the Panzer Company (adhoc) formation, a '44 and a '45 variant. These were to help scenario designers create 'alarm units' or similar. Somewhat similar to the shattered infantry formations that were included in CMFB - the "Straggler Group". Believe the date is the determining factor for which PzIII variants are available so play around with the dates to find the "M". You can purchase it and then reset the date back to what you are trying to design for.
    Hope this helps.
