  1. chuckdyke, that may be an issue with your comp. I’m not certain, but there is a thread here somewhere where others noted that same thing about seeing the outlines of fortifications, but I don’t have that issue. I thought it was suggested that it might have to do with video cards or something. But I have CRS, so who knows?
  2. I thought that was the Discord thingy that’s discussed on another thread on this forum?
  3. As for QBs, the map must have an AI plan for both sides, and in order to show up in the list of scenarios, must match the mission type you selected in the QB options, that is, meeting engagement map for meeting engagements, assault map for assault, etc. Not certain why in 3D they show up as night when you changed the parameters to daytime, but did you actually launch the scenario (not in QB, but in Battles) after you changed it to daytime just to check that it didn’t in fact change? Btw, you don’t by chance have movie mode on. Not a likely culprit, but it does sort of darken things. One other thing that really shouldn’t make a difference in this situation, but may be plays into this somehow, is that time in-game is dynamic. If you leave the game open with a battle in progress for say, 8 hours, and go back and check it, in-game time will have also moved forward 8 hours, and could therefore gone from day into night or vice versa.
  4. Glad it was sorted for you. Elvis/John is a fantastic troubleshooter and spokesman for BFC, hands down!
  5. There are a number of scenarios using, well, showcasing your mod made by (damn, don’t recall atm) and most if not all are set at night. edit: Actually, I think they were a series of Stalingrad scenarios made to showcase Winter mods that also incorporated your mod, Umlaut. My memory is also of the sketchy type.
  6. CMA needs a game engine 4 upgrade to make it viable, IMHO. I’ll continue to dream on, only now with a little bit of hope!
  7. Flavor objects are things like street lights, park benches and other objects that add flavor to a map. You can mod them to look like other things, including vehicles, but they have no intrinsic value to the game. They are like cardboard cutouts in real life. Anyway, if both of you have a vanilla installs, you won’t have any mods in your games at all.
  8. Oh please, oh please, oh please oh please, oh please!
  9. That is weird! My comp fried 2weeks ago so I can’t check it out myself, but I can’t even begin to imagine how that could happen. Either of you using a flavor object mod? Or a mod that makes one vehicle look like another (by swapping skeletons of, say, a truck with T34, etc.)?
  10. I don’t understand what you mean by “seeing” 2 or 5 panzers. The German player should see all of his assets and the opponent may or may not (probably not) see them, depending on a host of things.
  11. “...time sucking variable” was once my answer to my lovely wife when asked why I hadn’t gotten to my chores for the day. “Sorry dear,” says I, “but playing Combat Mission is a time sucking variable.” I was then informed that the Doghouse is also a time sucking variable.
  12. Are you kidding, I’m the first to comment? Lol, 11 minutes and no one else has jumped on this?
  13. I’m pretty regular ammo will too, if you take enough. But I’ve lost Fast Move when loading up troops with ammo, but maybe it’s because the unit already was burdened with an AT asset. Just ammo alone...not sure.
  14. Bone is up! (I know, sounds erotic, but Steve posted just now in General Discussion).
  15. It’s a pretty common 2in mortar, with a little better range than a rifle grenade. Standard issue for British HQs, and maybe others?.
  16. Thanks Kevin and Vacillator. I see that they released 4.14.1 (or was it 4.13.1?) just the other day. But it is good to know BAT install over the base was easy. But it looks like a lot of downloading and that gets me nervous that a file or two will get corrupted. Anyway, my pedals, throttle, and Joystick are CH Pros as well, but confess I was looking into the more substantial Warthog (Thrustmaster?) and then thinking about a cockpit chair.....
  17. Happy New Year, Phil! Did you show your bride Martha’s kubelwagon, lol!
  18. I know some of you guys out there are into IL2 as well as our beloved CMx2 games, so I’m hoping one of you can help me out. I was an IL2 aficionado from 2001 to 2011 when CMBN first arrived. (Still played it a lot after I got CMSF in 2008, but once the CMx2 got rolling into WWII, I just put it aside. Now, 10 years later, I’d like to get back into it, especially after finding it is still supported and updated and, a biggy to me, modded to be able to fly in the jet age. At this point I’m not interested in the new IL2 Cliffs of Dover, etc., but the updated 1946. I understand that there are at least 3 updated mod packs to choose from, BAT, VP, and VPack (? going from memory on the last one). I’ll probably go with BAT because of the compartmentalization into 4 eras, and maybe another one loaded on an external drive. I have all my original dvds for Pacific Fighters and 1946, as well as (I think) all the possible 3rd party add-ones like Stalingrad and Bodenplatte and whatever. Do I need any of these as a base for adding any of the 3 mod packs I mentioned? What should be used as a base game? And what advice can you give regarding those 3mod packs and their good and bad points? About two years ago I flirted with Strike Fighters, but didn’t like it. However, it did cause me to check out my rudder pedals, joystick, throttles and IRTracker. Everything worked fine, but I did get a new updated tracker. Last week my 7 year old computer fried, so I am getting a new one with the help of my sons, both IT professionals. I’m pulling out the stops, so am assured of an appropriately powerful machine. (But I understand good video cards have skyrocketed in price over the last few years, correct?) So, in general any advice regarding dealing with the mod packs, game/pack versions, base game to start from, etc., would be most appreciated!
  19. Just a final follow up on this. I most definitely suffer from the dreaded CRS disease that tragically strikes so many of us old coots. I connected my external drive to my Surface and was able to track down the deal with these uniform mods. The first batch was done in 2011 or '12 for the original CMBN and then around 2013 or '14 I did versions for the US units in Italy. In December of 2015, I redid everything and uploaded a set of uniforms for each theater, ETO and MTO. Those are the ones on CMMODS now (page 4, as Wart's noted above). Mystery solved!
  20. I figured you had tried every configuration, but just in case you didn’t.....
  21. Umlaut, what happens if you drop the footpath another level? My ‘puter fried last week so I can’t check it out myself, but interesting things happen when you use roads and footpaths at different depths when making trenches.
  22. That top group is named correctly. The bottom group are the old ones. We’re they in the same mod file? If so, I screwed up.
