I use covered arcs sparingly, and Hunt not much. Mainly use CA on HQs, FOs and schreck troops so they don’t go popping off at every little distraction.

Like Vacillator sez, there are 2 places the game installs files. Don't ask me why.

Ullo John! Gotta New Motor?
mjkerner replied to Warts 'n' all's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Mr. Sayle's production company/recording manager also don't know how to spell it! Plus, he can't pronounce it very well. -
BFC didn't want to go back and build new models for all the armored vehicles in those other titles (need to build "seats" for them to sit on, or some such, IIRC).

Wart's, by my reckoning, you lost several points for spelling "Hello" wrong in the title. Or was that the sound you made when your head separated from the rest of you? -
How to get your CMSF2 game on Steam
mjkerner replied to BFCElvis's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 2
Thank Hapless! I may not bother with Steam for CMSF then (and the others later), cuz I am using too much space for all my CM stuff on my C Drive already. -
How to get your CMSF2 game on Steam
mjkerner replied to BFCElvis's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 2
Well, after a whole lot of dikking around, much, much more than I ever experienced with normal BFC patches/installs, etc., I finally got the key. But before I bother loading it on Steam...what happens with mods I want to use in the game? Do I have to load them in the Steam/CMSF2 folder in my C drive, or just load them normal in the "Documents/Battlefront/etc. mod folder? -

Funny CptMiller, I was just thinking “ No good sentiment goes unpunished!” -

It’s the sentiment, not who said it. -
Version 2 is the major update/redo/major overhaul/practically a new module of CMSF that came a out a few (3? 6?) months ago and known as CMSF2. Getting all up-to-date you will have version 2.03. But anyway, looks like you are on Version 1 if you haven't bought any CMSF since 2015.

CM:BN Screenshot Thread #2

Most install problems are with weird text though, Phil. It sure looks more like a weapon switch mod. -

Previous version scenarios showing up
mjkerner replied to StieliAlpha's topic in CM2 General Tech Support
StieliAlpha, I had a similar thing a long time ago with old CMSF1 save files (I think from PBEM, not sure) hanging around in my saved battles files. Couldn't find them in my normal Battlefront folders to delete them. Turns out it had to do "compatibility" with Windows issue that was the reason behind CMBN having a different file structure than all the rest. Bottom line, I had to go into my "mark" or User folder and in the App Data folder in the Local folder (I think) there was a "Battlefront" or "Combat Mission Shock Force" folder, and in there were a bunch of old saves. Good luck digging around. -
Born Ginger, sent you a PM about the manuals.

New patch arty observation
mjkerner replied to zmoney's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
True story. My older brother was in 1st Cav, a 60mm machine gunner in the Central Highlands, ‘66-‘67. We’ve discussed his experiences hundreds of times, but it was only a year or two ago that I thought to ask him if he had ever been in/under an arty barrage (I already knew they’d been under light mortar stonks on a few occasions). His response was that only once, sort of, when his squad (he thought 8 guys, because he recalled that they had Just received some replacements in his platoon recently, and his squad was “fat”) was taking a breather under the only tree on a hill, watching a 155mm barrage landing in the valley below. Suddenly there was a very loud CRACK, like if lightning struck across the street. They were all stunned...and realized that a round came in low and hit the tree top 20 feet above them. They had all been basically laying down, some sleeping, in a more or less fan shape around the tree. No one had a scratch on them, but his best buddy had been using his helmet as a pillow and it was pinned to the ground by a 2 foot long by several inches wide shell splinter. Missed his head by a couple of inches! Posted in case you ever need a justification as to why a round didn’t do what it should have. But can only use it once, lol! -
Informal Poll Winner - Engine Update

The ability to tell which floor your P-truppen are on in buildings, without having to jockey the camera around to try and figure it out. Moving and fighting in built-up areas (like Berlin) is/is going to be a bitch! -

I’m with BornGinger...when do we get our a Power Rings? And I hope Steve and company make scads of $$$! -
Basically, that's what it ends up being.
-
You’re welcome, user1000.
-
Bubba, that will work for any mods, say for example, FJ uniforms. If you have a new mod with 6 textures, and you already have a mod of FJ uniform textures with seven textures in your mod folder, if you add more z’s in front of the folder with 6 textures, those six will show up as well as one of the textures from the folder with the 7 textures.
-
And the satisfaction of knowing you're not a heartless martinet like, say, C3K, lol!

This was already reported, and MikeyD posted the texture .bmp (just copy and plunk in your mod folder) in that thread. I’ll see if I can find it and link to it. It’s just up above about 6 threads.
