  1. Ooohhhhhhhhh, I was about 10 when that was on the local TV station's Friday Midnight Movie...always a big event in itself just to be allowed to stay up and watch it. i'll never forget Eddie Albert cowardly, craven American Infantry officer (Colonel???). I simply could not believe that any aAmerican officer could ever be that way. Big eye-opener to me, too!
  2. LOL, convinced! I saw that and many many more WWII movies in the local theater as a kid. I was always on Cloud Nine when a war movie was on the bill...Battleground, Breakthrough, Pork Chop Hill, Sands of Iwo Jima...the list goes on and on. They would run ones the older ones from the 40's like Guadalcanal Diary and the like on Saturdays. Good times.
  3. Wow, now that's a review/critique! Great job, Badger! I too didn't read the spoiler, but you set it up in a clear way so I knew what I could readvand what I shouldn't. I hope you do more reviews like that.
  4. I've had this happen quite often, especially if it's a long, straight road and I plot a long, straight movement order. They jump off the road and parallel it for a long ways, and then go back on the road at some point. It seems that is what your HT in the above example is trying to do...note that its turn parallels the turn in the road it's headed toward. But then again it could be the trees.
  5. Well, that's good, 'cause I didn't do alot of modding on uniforms at all! I did actually do some "outlining" of belts and things, and some color desaturation and what not. But I agree with you, and I think it is in part due to the fact that there is more variety in German unis in both CMBN and CMFI--lots and lots of gear/uniform/boot varieties. And just having a lot of camo for the Germans adds alot more variety. Edit: Hey, no comment about the patches, Erwin? p.s. You do know Hugo Boss was the fashion designer of alot of Nazi uniforms, and although I'm not certain, I imagine he had a hand in designing or influencing some of the general Wehrmacht clothing. Either way, to me, German uniforms are just neater looking than most of the Allies, with the exception of US and Brit Paras, late War USMC, and French Moroccan/Algerian (forget which) Goumiers.
  6. Great idea, PT. @Badger73's comment: People should just put "SPOILER ALERT" on their posts, or if there would be a dedicated thread to these AARs, a similar warning should be put in the Title. Then again, we are all adults here--some unnamed people excluded--so we would know that the whole thread is full of spoilers in the first place.
  7. LOL, good point! But their skivvies are OD. Well, when you look at examples of real uniforms and color photos, things seem to be all over the drab/OD/khaki/whatever map. With different dye lots, wear and tear, and sun fade, I figure many shades of drab/OD/khaki/whatever would work. At least it does for me. But there are real grogs here, so what the hell...might as well get opinions.
  8. Still doing a little work on these, and I have a question for you guys. Should I lose the brown pants?
  9. I'm surprised GaJ hasn't popped in to clarify by now, but anyway, lower right corner of the home page is where you log in/register. I'm already permanently logged in, so it doesn't show "Register", just "Log In" but anyway, look for it in the lower right corner. P.S. I have to scroll down even in full screen mode.
  10. Fuser, do you plan on uploading these last few in CMMODS?
  11. I already started one, sburke. Actually got quite a ways done last year in CMBN, but gave up--walls, roads, flavor objects were all PITA. But with CMFI editor improvements, I decided to start over. I re-oriented the map so the Monastery is north. It's about 3000m x 2200m, which takes in the monastery (come on, man, gotta have the Monastery for ambience!) past the town the south/east/southeast, and from a ways north of town to past the train depot. I want to build a Maori attack scenario, eventually. I have the road up Monte Cassino and the outer wall done, with a couple of the town boundary roads put in. This is going to take a while, and RL has done some recent kicking of the this forumite's ass, but I plan to keep chugging away here and then.
  12. I predict you will have a long and happy marriage! You clearly know the secret of turning the Missus' lemons into lemonade.
  13. Different strokes for different folks. I love to watch infantry move through the CM terrain.
  14. You will have another problem, depending on the uniform. The Bump map files literally have uniform and accoutrements contours, so if you use a US uniform texture from CMBN (renamed as appropriate, of course) that doesn't have the same belt or suspenders...whatever, and the bump for the CMFI uniform does, it will look wonky. You'll see the impression of said belt, etc., but not belt itself. I have US uniform division patch mod for all the Divisional patches for Sicily/Italy about half done, but my video card fried last week and I don't think I will get a new one in for another week or so. Erwin, they are subdued patches.
  15. Yeh, but I'm retiring next August, so hopefully your Depends will still be relatively dry.
  16. I agree, Umlaut. I have about two dozen scenarios I made for myself...it's the steep jump to finalizing them for the community that I just lack motivation to do. Maybe someday when I retire I will get around to it.
  17. Yes, and to guarantee it won't hit your own positions...target them!
  18. Damn, that looks good, Broadsword! I would love to be playing opposite you, but the PC is out of commission. I hope to be back up and running in 2 weeks, maybe.
  19. I agree with abob, LLF. You'd have one more d/l if my video card hadn't decided to fry itself Friday! I had planned to assault Makin this weekend.
  20. I loved Gates of Fire. It really put you into Thermopylae and what being in a hoplite "scrum" must have been like. Just saying.
