No, I sincerely, absolutely, positively hate it to death, but when did you say we can download it? -
Op Layers and the end of a campaign
mjkerner replied to sburke's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Great stuff, fellas! Broadsword, I still owe you that email regarding the MG Op Campaign. There's another new MG game out that could be used, but you already put a lot of time into WED. Also, Decision Games has a remake of SPI's Wacht am Rhein for when we get to the Bulge, and even better, Hell's Forest, also a company/battalion level game like WaR for the Hurtgen Forest Campaign. I just bought them both. For future consideration when CM:Bulge gets here. -
I would love for CMx2 to go back through WWII, then Spanish Civil War, then WWI. For that matter, I'd love them to get into the 19th Century colonial wars.

Looking for testers of new scenario

Yup, that'd be a correct assumption. -
11. Panzer Division - From Montélimar to the Drôme
mjkerner replied to winkelried's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
That's the one, Ian. It works like a charm...except there was one German campaign (or one scenario in that campaign, can't remember) that for some reason wouldn't open. -

Bil, there's a utility in the Respository that extracts scenarios from campaigns. Works real nifty. I can Dropbox it to you if you can't find it. -
Yes, and playing these games in holograph form projected right onto your living room floor. And going to work in your flying cars, and having robot sex. Edit: apparently sburke is a glass half empty type guy!

Full replay some thoughts
mjkerner replied to permanent666's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Wish they would somehow be able to adopt the process that IL 2 Sturmovik used, which allowed total replay of the battle, no matter how long it was. I'm no sure exactly the difference with CMBN and other game replay types, but essentially the game copied the computations/calculations the game processed, rather than copying the completed visuals of the turn or something like that. It would result in the occasional mismatch of what happened in the game and what it showed in playback (for example, your aircraft might be in a slightly different location in relation to the craft you shot down, and the tracers would be hitting thin air instead of the target), but it was a small price to pay for complete playback from any camera angle. -
That's looking very, very nice, Rake. Keep the pics coming!

Looks like Many WW2 Movies Coming!

These are the morons that bug me the most. And they're all over the place; in the media, at work, family gatherings, wargame forums.... :-) -
I have yet to get German HMG teams to deploy correctly at all in 2.0, either on the ground or in buildings. 100% of the time so far they have had teammates wander off and, when/if it deploys, it has always been 180 degrees opposite of the facing command. So I leave them semi-deployed. Steve at BFC says a hotfix is coming...waiting patiently.

59...60 this coming August. Although it seems impossible to me that I'm that old, the upside is that I'm retiring on my birthday, so I can game CMx2 all day long!

Not with foxholes that I recall, but have had that happen often with troops. One solution is not to use a painted set-up zone. IIRC, troops (and foxholes?) will stay put, but will still follow the painted AI map zone/movement orders.

Winter Mods for the eventual CM East Front family
mjkerner replied to Broadsword56's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Well then, hang on for about a week, and I'll try to finish this. Not much left to do, actually. -
Mord, he didn't do winter ground, just trees and doodads, etc. It actually goes pretty quick. I just won't be able to finish the mini ground until the weekend.
-
Thanks augusto. Maybe I will finish this afterall if enough are interested. Notice the line in the distance where the snow stops. I have to "snow" the mini terrain tiles (I assume that's what needs to be done...if not, someone tell me before I waste the time), because the draw distance too noticable. And I have to re-figure out how to use alpha channels 'cause I added snow to the bocage, but until I make them alphas they look plenty wierd.
-
Glad you like it. I started with a mod I got off of CMMODS, but made many more "snowed-on" terrain tiles, flavor objects and added some winter trees (borrowed from CMSF, CMA, and one (or two?) from sdp's Italy mod). I did this about 3 months ago, and just started changing the German uniform names to comport with v2.0 names. Mud tiles work for heavy snow movement. The village I also borrowed from someone's map, then extended it alol, made the village larger, and destroyed it more. I am presently adding tons and tons and tons of rubble, so it will look really damaged. The idea was to do a US attack scenario in Novemmber '44somewhere along the Siegfried Line, and a German attack scenario in December '44, somewhere in Belgium. Maybe someday I'll finish all this. I still owe you that email about MG and future plans. Tomorrow over the lunch hour.
