  1. In my last game my squad's radio operator was killed. To make it a huge problem he had ordered 120mm Mortar barrage. Spotting round and ALL other rounds fell over my troops and I couldn't cancel the order. Company HQ sit there with a radio and cursed c2.
  2. It's a little strange that if you want to buy motorized mortar team you can only find halftrack's from panzergrenadier battalion. No trucks for mortar teams - so if you buy Opel Blitz you get no extra ammo for them.
  3. Rhino tanks are only available between July 1st and 31st.
  4. Have anyone seen machinegunner's loader loading the MG? What about guns? Nice if they add loader function.
  5. AAR? :-D I drank half of the bottle. It was surely enough, strong stuff. I wouldn't recommend H2H with it, b'coz stuff make you careless. Heh heh. I havent tasted Calvados before but I was curios tasting it after reading how US paratroopers found one barrel on D-Day. Cant give you detailed game AAR because I was testing my new scenario "Gourbesville". Would spoil the fun.
  6. Battle will be bloody. German side fight without demolition packs, it will be hard without them to find way to that village. You really need to think how to attack. I'm planning to making both sides playable, but it's best played as German (attacker). It will be released when it's ready. Map is finished and I'm still playtesting how AI and forces work.
  7. Wife and kids away... Only me, bottle of fine Normandy Calvados and Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy. Have a nice saturday! And share you best moments with CMBN.
  8. Anyone found weather reports on June 1944? I found good 6th June 1944 weather webpage: http://www.ecmwf.int/research/era/dday/ "The two images of the early morning approach to Omaha Beach shown in the upper frames of Figure 7 are among many that reveal overcast conditions, and the drift of smoke along the beach indicates a wind from the west or west-north-west. The lower images show sunnier conditions for a convoy further from the beaches, and clear skies over Omaha Beach in the afternoon of June 6." Weather on 6th June 1944 Morning: Probably overcast, light to medium wind from West of North-West Afternoon: Overcast or clear, light to medium wind from West of North-West
  9. I also like smaller scenarios. Two companies are too much for my impatient mind if deployed at once. Devils' Descent is one of my all-time favorites. Bloody St. Omer Capelle is also very good. What I expect is that scenario could have happened or is historical. I like that map is realistic and interesting looking. Interesting to see that there are more US side scenarios. I think we need more German side campaigns and scenarios. My current new project is small village of Gourbesville. 2-3 platoon each side, infantry only (82nd airborne against 91st luftlande) on D-Day 6th of June. I try to keep it simple, fast and small.
  10. Hi! I'm working on small village of Gourbesville scenario. US 82nd airborne (508th PIR) vs. German 91st Luflande division (1057th Regiment). Small engagement (2-3 platoons each side) on 6th of June. Here's 1940 era photo from Gourbesville crossroad. And here's photo from scenario - same place. Map should be pretty accurate. I used Google streetview, Google maps and some old WW2 era maps to create it. Few other photos:
  11. I bet dirt roads were mostly used by animals and people. So dirt road should be more like it is now and not like "vehicle roads are today". Just my guess.
  12. C2 is sometimes little odd. If you buy infantry company and platoon of on-map mortars with HQ, you cannot order artillery by radio (from company hq). I have made few scenarios and this is big problem. I rounded the problem by removing whole mortar platoon and purchasing mortar squads directly under company HQ. Now the problem is that mortar teams do not have HQ so no radio for them. But if I keep company HQ (with radio) near them I can order mortar fire from platoon HQs or with dedicated forward observer. It works even if I keep forward observer near them, so platoon and company hq can order fire from any distance.
  13. What kind of scenario you like to mostly play? What kind of scenario is your dream come true? I'm currently thinking making new scenarios and hope to narrow down what type of scenarios people like to play.
  14. Good points! Horses pulled plow, so there wasn't many tractors. Animals and farmers could slip to fields from small gaps in bocage. There was no need for larger gaps (for vehicles). If you look fields now, they have driveways for tractors. I'm pretty sure these driveways were more uncommon in the 1940's. One thing that is missing from CMBN is small dirt trails. I'm talking about very narrow 1-2m wide path that was used mostly by animals and persons (on foot). In my own maps I try to add some "dirt ground" to simulate paths.
  15. It's cool that you can blast bunkers. But it's even more cooler if we could blast BRIDGES!
  16. At least they blast bunkers with demos. The problem with tanks and demos are that you rarely get so close to tank. Usually when I try assaulting tanks my demo teams end up dead before throwing anything.
  17. I'm used to old buttons and using Juju's UI. With this buttons I feel right at home. Great looking, thanks.
  18. Mission briefing (part of): 0705 31st July, 1944. Between Argentan and Caen, Normandy. The Allies have pushed our forces back for several weeks. We are laying ambushes and delaying the enemy, but allied control of the skies limits our operations. The odds are stacked against us ... Last night 12th SS Panzer Division "Hitlerjugend" was deployed to a new quiet sector. The division have strict orders to maintain radio silence, and move only by night to conceal its location and maintain the element of surprise. Early morning light rain and fog will help us even further. It's time to attack before the ground gets too wet. By attacking here our superiors think 12th SS can tie down several enemy divisions and ease the pressure in other sectors. Weather is light fog and rain. Medium wind from North-West. Ground is getting wet. Mission: Recon in force and seize (touch) several objectives en route to the Caen-Argentan railroad. Destroy enemy forces when necessary. It is vital that you do not exceed 30-40% friendly casualties! Try to find alternative routes or advance rapidly to take additional (hidden) objectives. If possible seize the Chateau which is probably held by an infantry company HQ.
  19. Nice to know. Because I have already made one map North of Carentan. Only Fallschirmjägers are missing there.
  20. How do you destroy a bridge? I tried to blast it with engineer, but it didn't work. I assume you can only destroy bridge with artillery bombardment? It would be nice to have "prime bridge" or just blast command that works. Could be that only engineers can blast it thought..
  21. Flame thrower would be awesome too. But I understand why they left it out. It was used too many times in H2H. But when used rarely in scenarios this would be cool. Burning fields, houses and forest. C00l!
  22. They do stay there without setup zone. But you have to remember to set them for "ambush mode" or "active".
  23. Yep, it would be nice to have abandoned AT guns to decorate battlefield. Actually I found one way to do it. You can "bail out" AT gun crew and move it to different location. It works, but you have to find some other use for AT crew without gun.
  24. Can I some how deploy abandoned AT guns? When I use unit editor, choose 'destroyed vehicle' crew is still there. Anyway to delete crew, but left AT gun?
