  1. It's not entirely fictional. I founded the castle ruins in Google Earth in Syria. Terrain looked so cool for battle, so I just added a prison complex on the hill and surrounding for it. So this place actually exist but terrain is heavily modified to make it better suited for scenario. The real location is somewhere on the M5 Road between Latakia and Jisrah Shugur.
  2. I'm currently playtesting my newest coming scenario Prison Break. It should be ready in less than a week. Only minor AI tweakings and playtesting is left. Because timelimit is 2 hours, it will take time to test it properly before release. You have full Marines company and scout attachment. You are far behind enemy lines, airdropped by helicopter. Your task is to assault the Al Jazzard's prison on the high hill next to small villagge. Delta Force team will join the fun after 60 minutes (dropped from Chinook helicopter). Assault the the prison, find and rescue important political prisoner inside. No artillery support available, but you'll have plenty of air support. This is much larger scenario than my previous. Approx. two hours of fun. Here are few teaser screenshots from my latest playtest.
  3. In my next scenario there will be two hour timelimit. Should be enough for more cautious approuch. Actually The Bridge of Abu Kamal's timelimit was over one hour, but I later changed to one hour. Well... Maybe I'll fix it for next version.
  4. Paper Tiger, awesome looking city map with flavors. I also want to imform that my scenario maps now and in the future are FREE FOR ALL. You can freely modified them to make your own scenarios work.
  5. I'm glad you liked my scenario. It is possible to get total victory, but you need to be quick and minimize your casualties. Scenario victory points are hard on BLUE casualties to simulate US side poor ability to substain casualties. You get +100 points, if have less than 15% casualties. RED get +500 points if they manage to get 30% or more casualties. If you lose your LAV, there is a big chance that RED will get +500 points... I'm not too harsh on VPs on destroyed buildings. If you destroy mosque it will cost you some points, but otherwise you'll be quite safe. It's just a standard ROE not to level the whole town full of civilians. Few tips to achieve major victory Split your teams early, move fast and SCOUT ahead. Keep your LAV safe from hidden RPG-teams and possible IEDs. Use your early arty (mortars) only for quick salvoes to suppress enemy strongpoints. After arty, make sure you'r quick to assault your target. Don't spread your forces too much. Keep your force together to maximize their firepower. Mission timetable is very harsh. Commander expects that there are no major obstacles to take the bridge of Abu Kamal. Plan ahead your moves and make sure you bring your arty shots early. I know I'm very harsh on short time, it's because otherwise scenario's reinforcements will be ruined. On my testing too much time and later reinforcements on RED side made scenario too easy, if you just rush to targets. So harsh timetable is a compromize to get RED side a change to win, but maybe +5-10 extra time wont harm... One more thing... If you happen to encounter large enemy force, it might be good idea to duck & cover and wait for reinforcements to relieve you.
  6. You'll find it in Repository: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=302
  7. Here is two preview screenshots from my coming Prison-scenario.
  8. Great ideas guys! I started yesterday working on new map for my coming scenario. Objective in on high hill (with old castle ruins). Actually I build a large prison there on the hill (several high buildings surrounded by stone walls). Nearby the hill there is also "military town" of several high buildings. Surrounding also contains small village, farms, highway, mosque and lot of forests. The map looks nice, but it have still a lot of tweaking left. I think assaulting old castle hill with prison on the hill overlooking the surrounding will be challenging. Probably mission will be freeing some political prisoners or even US prisoned soldiers. Probably blue Delta Force etc. special forces are included and from red side special forces or paratroopers. Red's have perfect observation posts on the hill and (lower) guardhouse. Only one road is leading to the hill, so assaulting it will be quite hard. I think laying smoke screen, arty support and timing will be essentilly important for blues to reach the hill prison. Kosta, it was a great document. After watching it I was eager to start making prison rescue mission.
  9. I think the hardest thing in scenario making is creating a idea. Put your scenario ideas here, share it with others and hopefully someone will make it for you. Right now I'm brainstorming idea for next scenario. I'm thinking it would be neat to play red side and defend against US attack. I like infantry and small battles (up to few platoons and few vehicles included). Maybe small town/city map with airborne forces. So... What they are defending in the city/town? Any ideas? What kind of scenarios you like best? Night, day or dawn/dusk time?
  10. Here is one good screenshot from my own made scenario: The Bridge to Abu Kamul. Just installed FRAPS, so need to take more of these.
  11. Thanx. PrintScreen was not working in my Vista. But I managed to take screenshots with FRAPS.
  12. I just uploaded new CMSF: Marines scenario. This is my first published scenario. You're first Marines unit to reach 5 km from Iraq-Syria border. Your mission is to secure the bridge to city of Abu Kamal. Prepare for Al Qaeda fighters, intense street fightings and maybe for few suprises. Playable only on BLUE SIDE against AI. Map is based on real location in Syria. Hope you like it! Any comment or feedback is appreciated. More scenarios coming later.
  13. Stupid question, but I cant find shortcut key for taking screenshot. How to take it in game?
  14. After I updated to 1.07 game will crash in every scenario. I can load scenario, deploy my forces, hit play button and play. Game is working until first enemy is spotted. Then it will crash and cm shock force.exe is displaying an error. I uninstalled game, and tried demo which is working fine. I reinstalled cmsf but again game crashes as soon as I spot the enemy and shooting is about to start. Faulting application cm shock force.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module cm shock force.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00ddd6ea. The application, E:\Games\Combat Mission Shock Force\CM Shock Force.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 02/23/2008 @ 08:53:10.453 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 011DD6EA (CM Shock Force) --- I'm using GeForce 7600 GS, latest Nvidia 6.14.11.6921 drivers in Windows XP
  15. Bah.. After I updated to 1.07 game will crash in every scenario. I can load scenario, deploy my forces, hit plat button and in few seconds i got CTD. 16. I started to play CM:SF few days ago. Thank God I didn't buy it earlier. I tested 1.0 and it was horribly compared to 1.05. My framerate was at least tripled. 1.0 was unplayable, but now I am enjoying this game very much. But... I need you help, guys! What is the best/good tactic for first campaign mission? I usually loose all my infantry. I use heavy arty support, but those poor men will die as soon as they disembarg from their vehicles. Also I usually loose few Abrams and several Strykers too. How to kill those entreched syrians without killing all my troops?!?
