  1. It would be cool to see some multicolour camo schemes: This scheme for the BTR-80 is very cool: (but also horribly obscured by dust, I'll look for a better image):
  2. I believe you can do a second install to a different directory.....CMBN generates its 'Game Files' folder in the local directory rather than 'My Documents', so there shouldn't be a conflict AFAIK.
  3. You don't think the fact that the war was fought largely on Soviet territory might have affected those casualty figures at all? I'm pretty sure that if the Wehrmacht had been marching across New-England or the Japanese were in California US losses would have been considerably higher.
  4. Cheers for the heads up, mods have not been my thing thus far, but they seem easier to handle in the newer titles.
  5. Very much so fella, if you had a matching T-72M1 you would make my day.
  6. The military adventurism of certain nations in the 1920's didn't greatly contribute to peace in the area though, did it?
  7. Chill guys. Olek, will you be doing any more CM:A stuff? I'm working on a big map that you could use for a background and to test some of your tactical tips.....It's a little bit more 'complex' than the typical CM:A stock maps, although it is based on one of them.
  8. Just checked and I have the same.....Fixing it should just be a case of swapping in a new fighter command.
  9. He had some truly scary tales and some very funny ones.....A genuine character and still much missed.
  10. It's a very flexible title, mostly because it was the first and had the most releases, but it still has some big issues (red occupy) that's for sure! I've built core files and tested scenario concepts for both the BF & Semi-Historical storylines, TBH I'm not sure which I prefer, hypothetical is probably best in some ways, hence the OSIRIS concept, which is me doing more or less the same as BF but based on the historical aftermath of 2003. I like scenarios built using or set against UnCons, the thought of a unified Baathist/Islamist organisation like ISIS springing up with the full weight of two nations demobbed soldiery, plus all the foreign volunteers is dreadful, but it would make for some good scenarios. My further assumption is that we would be looking at an 'Iran Next' scenario.....The existence of OSIRIS in the border regions might well be used as the excuse for further US/NATO incursions along the lines of the 'Seven Nations' plan described so eloquently by Wesley Clark.
  11. Russia wasn't overwhelmed militarily in WWI, they were overwhelmed politically from within (with a little help from both sides). Lend lease was indeed a factor in the Soviet survival, how big we'll never know, but Soviet historians give credit where it's due, so IMHO we should do the same.....A late friend of mine served on the convoys to both Archangelsk & Malta, he considered the latter something of a pleasure cruise after the former.
  12. If the Tories are supposed to be in power we'll be in the thick of it, if not..... Realistically the European bits of NATO aren't going to contribute much IMHO, for both political and practical reasons.....BF would do as well to model the Poles and other East European nations who actually have a dog in the fight (against the bear). Personally I'd much prefer to see the Fulda Gap.....It would attract a lot less trolls IMHO. TBH once CM:SF II is out, CM:BS will be a dead thing for me, I already own all the SF modules so I'll have about four times as much game to play with and I get to set my scenarios against people I'd be genuinely happy to kill personally.....What more could you want.
  13. Despite the fact that historically, after taking the losses that you describe, they still won? Wow! Do you fancy a game of poker for cash?
  14. Don't get me wrong, I'm as interested to know what happened at Deir ez Zorr as anyone else, I've made some enquiries but not read anything particularly enlightening other than a FB post that suggests it wasn't by chance that quite so many US air assets were so conveniently on hand (including a BUFF). Going back to the game stuff, I'm currently trying to get my head around what the aftermath of the official BF plotline in Syria would actually be (My OSIRIS concept).....AFAIK the official storyline makes no mention of the Russian presence at Tartus, which slightly complicates matters. Did NATO enlist Russian cooperation prior to their attack or did they overwhelm the Russian garrison? I'm erring in favour of the former as IIRC the whole premise of the BF plotline is a response to terrorist attack blamed on factions said to be based on Syrian territory. (Russia has always tended to be helpful in the fight against terrorism**, as has the Assad regime, despite what western media might currently have you believe). As was pointed out earlier in this thread (or possibly elsewhere), the game already has most of the tools we need, I'm no expert on mods (I know SFA about them TBH), but I'm sure a 'Beard Mod' for the Syrian SF would cover most advances on the UnCon front.....Sure they'd lose their (alleged) UnCon concealment bonus (I'm not convinced it actually exists), but once you start dressing like a stormtrooper that seems fair enough, beard or no beard. ** This being the fight against actual terrorists, not organisations designated as such because one power or the other doesn't like their politics much.
  15. Perversely I like CM:A the best among the modern titles (TBH it's probably my favourite overall).....It's an odd and quirky game that categorically won't be developed further, but it plays really well and can be a lot of fun. It's also very cheap.
  16. See what exactly.....The bush-whacking of Wagner, or the scenario type suggestions? The latter is much more my cup of tea TBH, interested to see what you can make of your experiments.
  17. Possibly of interest: http://armypubs.army.mil/epubs/DR_pubs/DR_a/pdf/web/ARN3238_ATP 3-21x91 FINAL WEB.pdf
  18. More proof of the basic nature of Russian equipment.....The German 'Broom-Handle' is clearly a much more sophisticated & refined device.
  19. I have a sequel for CM:SF (Al Hutumah - The Crusher), shouldn't be too long now.....I will attempt to redo both of them (and more) as a structured campaign (on a bigger map) for CM:SF II, the current iterations are too brutal for that format IMHO. Not entirely, but your point is well taken.....I play some of the games quite a lot, but I'm definitely at about a 10:1 ratio in editor/gaming time.
  20. Not much help for your campaign I suspect, but it made me smile:
  21. Doubt I've spent ten hours playing it TBH.....Spent several hundred in the editor though (and still not achieved anything I'd publish)!
