Fire and Rubble DAR: BFCElvis vs Ithikial_AU - Soviet Side
jtsjc1 replied to BFCElvis's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
Elvis order from Amazon UK. About $51 shipped to the US. Its a Helion book and an import so its alot cheaper buying it there. Just takes a little longer to get. Preorder was a little bit less so thats a great price. Keep up the AAR! -

This map is great! It really gives you an idea of how deadly the house to house fighting in Berlin was. Btw if you guys haven't purchased it yet, get yourself the revised edition of Bloody Streets by A. Stephan Hamilton. If you have the original this is even better and has a beautiful map book. Its easily one of the best military history books I own. You can get it for a good price at Amazon UK. -

Anyone live?

If anything it seems that it will kill the engine by cutting off the air intake. Actually destroying the tank seems alot harder. Maybe by igniting raw fuel in the engine compartment.

Soviet on-map big guns in the module for historical accuracy

Haiduk I find these translations of the documents extremely interesting. Whether or not BF decides to include the big guns or not. shouldn't stop you from posting in this thread. This is great stuff man please continue! -
Soviet on-map big guns in the module for historical accuracy
jtsjc1 replied to Haiduk's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
I'd agree with Haiduk also. If the 203mm was on a SP chassis you would be able to use it in a direct fire mission the same way. If it was towed there it would have to be set up I understand but it wouldn't be used in every scenario just when a situation called for it. If Cm is going to model Berlin accurately, you'd have to have heavily fortified buildings that aren't always going to be breached easily. Of course the Russians used 152mm guns with success but I'm sure they weren't bringing up heavy caliber artillery like this if it wasn't needed. After all Hitler declared Berlin a fortress! -
Too bad I was hoping to roll one of these up to a Berlin block and redecorate. Basically an 8" howitzer fired direct! I believe its 203mm though I could be wrong.

Check out the video of some Russians getting an SU-152 moving. It was sitting for who knows how long and they worked on it until it started and moved!
